1 Y vinieron a mí algunos de los ancianos de Israel, y se sentaron delante de mí.

Then came certain of the elders of Israel to me and sat before me.

2 Y vino Palabra del SEÑOR a mí, diciendo:

And the word of the Lord came to me:

3 H ijo de hombre, estos hombres han hecho subir sus inmundicias sobre su corazón, y han establecido el tropezadero de su iniquidad delante de su rostro; ¿cuando me preguntaren, les tengo que responder?

Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts and put the stumbling block of their iniquity and guilt before their faces; should I permit Myself to be inquired of at all by them?

4 H áblales por tanto, y diles: Así dijo el Señor DIOS: Cualquier varón de la Casa de Israel que hubiere puesto sus ídolos en su corazón, y establecido el tropezadero de su iniquidad delante de su rostro, y viniere al profeta, yo, el SEÑOR, responderé al que así viniere en la multitud de sus ídolos;

Therefore speak to them and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Every man of the house of Israel who takes his idols into his heart and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and yet comes to the prophet, I the Lord will answer him, answer him according to the multitude of his idols,

5 p ara tomar a la Casa de Israel en su corazón, que se han apartado de mí todos ellos en sus ídolos.

That I may lay hold of the house of Israel in the thoughts of their own mind and heart, because they are all estranged from Me through their idols.

6 P or tanto, di a la Casa de Israel: Así dijo el Señor DIOS: Convertíos, y haced que se conviertan de vuestros ídolos, y apartad vuestro rostro de todas vuestras abominaciones.

Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Repent and turn away from your idols, and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

7 P orque cualquier hombre de la Casa de Israel, y de los extranjeros que moran en Israel, que se hubiere apartado de andar en pos de mí, y hubiere puesto sus ídolos en su corazón, y establecido delante de su rostro el tropezadero de su iniquidad, y viniere al profeta para preguntarle por mí, yo, el SEÑOR, le responderé por mí mismo;

For anyone of the house of Israel or of the strangers who sojourn in Israel who separates himself from Me, taking his idols into his heart and putting the stumbling block of his iniquity and guilt before his face, and comes to the prophet to inquire for himself of Me, I the Lord will answer him Myself!

8 y pondré mi rostro contra aquel varón, y le pondré por señal y por refranes, y yo lo cortaré de entre mi pueblo; y sabréis que yo soy el SEÑOR.

And I will set My face against that and will make him a sign and a byword, and I will cut him off from the midst of My people; and you shall know (understand and realize) that I am the Lord.

9 Y el profeta, cuando fuere engañado y hablare palabra, yo, el SEÑOR, engañé al tal profeta; y extenderé mi mano sobre él, y le raeré de en medio de mi pueblo de Israel.

but if the prophet does give the man the answer he desires, I the Lord will see to it that the prophet is deceived in his answer, and I will stretch out My hand against him and will destroy him from the midst of My people Israel.

10 Y llevarán su iniquidad, como la iniquidad del que pregunta, así será la iniquidad del profeta;

And they both shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the iniquity of the prophet shall be the same as the iniquity of the inquirer,

11 p ara que no yerren más los de la Casa de Israel de en pos de mí; ni más se contaminen en todas sus rebeliones; y me sean por pueblo, y yo les sea por Dios, dijo el Señor DIOS.

That the house of Israel may go no more astray from Me, neither defile themselves any more with all their transgressions, but that they may be My people, and I may be their God, says the Lord God.

12 Y vino Palabra del SEÑOR a mí, diciendo:

The word of the Lord came to me, saying,

13 H ijo de hombre, cuando la tierra pecare contra mí rebelándose pérfidamente, y extendiere yo mi mano sobre ella, y le quebrantare el arrimo del pan, y enviare en ella hambre, y talare de ella hombres y bestias;

Son of man, when a land sins against Me by committing a trespass, and I stretch out My hand against it and break its staff of bread and send famine upon it and cut off from it man and beast,

14 s i estuvieren en medio de ella estos tres varones, Noé, Daniel, y Job, ellos por su justicia librarán su vida, dijo el Señor DIOS.

Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, they would save but their own lives by their righteousness (their uprightness and right standing with Me), says the Lord God.

15 Y si hiciere pasar mala bestia por la tierra, y la asolare, y fuere desolada que no haya quien pase a causa de la bestia,

If I cause ferocious and evil wild animals to pass through the land and they ravage and bereave it, and it becomes desolate so that no man may pass through because of the beasts;

16 y estos tres varones estuvieren en medio de ella, vivo yo, dijo el Señor DIOS, ni a sus hijos ni a sus hijas librarán; ellos solos serán libres, y la tierra será asolada.

Though these three men were in it, as I live, says the Lord God, they would deliver neither sons nor daughters; they themselves alone would be delivered but the land would be desolate (laid waste and deserted).

17 O si yo trajere espada sobre la tierra, y dijere: Espada, pasa por la tierra; e hiciere talar de ella hombres y bestias,

Or if I bring a sword upon that land and say, Sword, go through the land, so that I cut off man and beast from it,

18 y estos tres varones estuvieren en medio de ella, vivo yo, dijo el Señor DIOS, no librarán a sus hijos ni a sus hijas; ellos solos serán libres.

Though these three men were in it, as I live, says the Lord God, they would deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they themselves alone would be delivered.

19 O si pestilencia enviare sobre esa tierra, y derramare mi ira sobre ella en sangre, para talar de ella hombres y bestias,

Or if I send a pestilence into that land and pour out My wrath upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast,

20 y estuvieren en medio de ella Noé, Daniel, y Job, vivo yo, dijo el Señor DIOS, no librarán a hijo ni a hija; ellos por su justicia librarán su vida.

Though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live, says the Lord God, they would deliver neither son nor daughter; they would but deliver their own lives by their righteousness (their moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation).

21 P or lo cual así dijo el Señor DIOS: ¿Cuánto más, si mis cuatro malos juicios, espada, hambre, mala bestia, y pestilencia, enviare contra Jerusalén, para talar de ella hombres y bestias?

For thus says the Lord God: How much more when I send My four sore acts of judgment upon Jerusalem—the sword, the famine, the evil wild beasts, and the pestilence—to cut off from it man and beast!

22 S in embargo, he aquí quedará en ella un remanente, de los cuales serán llevados cautivos sus hijos e hijas, que serán llevados fuera; he aquí que ellos entrarán a vosotros, y veréis su camino y sus hechos; y tomaréis consolación del mal que hice venir sobre Jerusalén, de todas las cosas que traje sobre ella.

And yet, behold, in it shall be left a remnant (an escaped portion), both sons and daughters. They shall be carried forth to you, and when you see their walk and their doings, you will be consoled for the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.

23 Y os consolarán cuando viereis su camino y sus hechos, y conoceréis que no sin causa hice todo lo que habré hecho en ella, dijo el Señor DIOS.

And they shall console you when you see their evil ways and their rebellious actions. Then you shall know (understand and realize) that I have not done without cause all that I have done in Jerusalem, says the Lord God.
