1 M are este Domnul şi foarte vrednic de laudă, în cetatea Dumnezeului nostru, muntele Lui cel sfânt!

Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain,

2 F rumoasă înălţime, bucuria întregului pământ, ca înălţimile Ţafon, aşa este muntele Sionului, cetatea marelui Împărat!

Fair and beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth— Mount Zion, to the northern side, the city of the Great King!

3 Î n palatele ei, Dumnezeu se face cunoscut ca fiind întăritura ei.

God has made Himself known in her palaces as a Refuge (a High Tower and a Stronghold).

4 I ată că regii se adunaseră şi înaintaseră cu toţii,

For, behold, the kings assembled, they came onward and they passed away together.

5 d ar când I- au văzut cetatea, au înlemnit, s-au îngrozit şi au fugit.

They looked, they were amazed; they were stricken with terror and took to flight.

6 A colo i-a apucat frica, i-a cuprins durerea ca la naştere.

Trembling took hold of them there, and pain as of a woman in childbirth.

7 L e-ai făcut precum vântul de răsărit care zdrobeşte corăbiile de Tarşiş.

With the east wind You shattered the ships of Tarshish.

8 C eea ce am auzit, am şi văzut în cetatea Domnului Oştirilor, în cetatea Dumnezeului nostru: Dumnezeu o întăreşte pe vecie! Sela

As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it forever. Selah!

9 D umnezeule, la îndurarea Ta ne gândim în mijlocul Templului Tău!

We have thought of Your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of Your temple.

10 D umnezeule, aşa cum este Numele Tău, tot astfel şi lauda Ta ajunge până la marginile lumii. Dreapta Ta este plină de dreptate.

As is Your name, O God, so is Your praise to the ends of the earth; Your right hand is full of righteousness (rightness and justice).

11 M untele Sionului se bucură şi satele lui Iuda se înveselesc din pricina judecăţilor Tale.

Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of Your judgments!

12 D aţi ocol Sionului, înconjuraţi-l, număraţi-i turnurile!

Walk about Zion, and go round about her, number her towers (her lofty and noble deeds of past days),

13 A dmiraţi-i fortificaţiile, străbateţi-i citadelele, ca să povestiţi generaţiei următoare!

Consider well her ramparts, go through her palaces and citadels, that you may tell the next generation.

14 A cest Dumnezeu este Dumnezeul nostru pentru veci de veci! El ne va conduce până la moarte!

For this God is our God forever and ever; He will be our guide until death.
