1 А коли промовляли вони до народу оце, до них приступили священики, і влада сторожі храму й саддукеї,

And while they were talking to the people, the high priests and the military commander of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them,

2 о бурюючись, що навчають народ та звіщають в Ісусі воскресіння з мертвих.

Being vexed and indignant through and through because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

3 І руки наклали на них, і до в'язниці всадили до ранку, бо вже вечір настав був.

So they laid hands on them (arrested them) and put them in prison until the following day, for it was already evening.

4 І багато-хто з тих, хто слухав слово, увірували; число ж мужів таких було тисяч із п'ять.

But many of those who heard the message believed (adhered to and trusted in and relied on Jesus as the Christ). And their number grew and came to about 5, 000.

5 І сталось, що ранком зібралися в Єрусалимі начальники їхні, і старші та книжники,

Then on the following day, their magistrates and elders and scribes were assembled in Jerusalem,

6 і Анна первосвященик, і Кайяфа, і Іван, і Олександер, і скільки було їх із роду первосвященичого.

Including Annas the high priest and Caiaphas and John and Alexander and all others who belonged to the high priestly relationship.

7 І , поставивши їх посередині, запиталися: Якою ви силою чи яким ви ім'ям те робили?

And they set the men in their midst and repeatedly demanded, By what sort of power or by what kind of authority did you do this ?

8 Т оді Петро, переповнений Духом Святим, промовив до них: Начальники люду та старшини Ізраїлеві!

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, Rulers of the people and members of the council (the Sanhedrin),

9 Я к сьогодні беруть нас на допит про те добродійство недужій людині, як вона вздоровлена,

If we are being put on trial today and examined concerning a good deed done to benefit a feeble (helpless) cripple, by what means this man has been restored to health,

10 н ехай буде відомо всім вам, і всім людям Ізраїлевим, що Ім'ям Ісуса Христа Назарянина, що Його розп'яли ви, то Його воскресив Бог із мертвих, Ним поставлений він перед вами здоровий!

Let it be known and understood by all of you, and by the whole house of Israel, that in the name and through the power and authority of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Whom you crucified, Whom God raised from the dead, in Him and by means of Him this man is standing here before you well and sound in body.

11 В ін камінь, що ви, будівничі, відкинули, але каменем став Він наріжним!

This is the Stone which was despised and rejected by you, the builders, but which has become the Head of the corner.

12 І нема ні в кім іншім спасіння. Бо під небом нема іншого Ймення, даного людям, що ним би спастися ми мали.

And there is salvation in and through no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by and in which we must be saved.

13 А бачивши сміливість Петра та Івана, і спостерігши, що то люди обидва невчені та прості, дивувалися, і пізнали їх, що вони з Ісусом були.

Now when they saw the boldness and unfettered eloquence of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and untrained in the schools, they marveled; and they recognized that they had been with Jesus.

14 Т а бачивши, що вздоровлений чоловік стоїть з ними, нічого навпроти сказати не могли.

And since they saw the man who had been cured standing there beside them, they could not contradict the fact or say anything in opposition.

15 І , звелівши їм вийти із синедріону, зачали радитися між собою,

But having ordered to go aside out of the council, they conferred (debated) among themselves,

16 г оворячи: Що робити нам із цими людьми? Бож усім мешканцям Єрусалиму відомо, що вчинили вони явне чудо, і не можемо того заперечити.

Saying, What are we to do with these men? For that an extraordinary miracle has been performed by (through) them is plain to all the residents of Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.

17 Т а щоб більш не поширювалось це в народі, то з погрозою заборонімо їм, щоб нікому з людей вони не говорили про Це Ім'я.

But in order that it may not spread further among the people and the nation, let us warn and forbid them with a stern threat to speak any more to anyone in this name.

18 І , закликавши їх, наказали їм не говорити, і взагалі не навчати про Ісусове Ймення.

they summoned them and imperatively instructed them not to converse in any way or teach at all in or about the name of Jesus.

19 І відповіли їм Петро та Іван, та й сказали: Розсудіть, чи це справедливе було б перед Богом, щоб слухатись вас більш, як Бога?

But Peter and John replied to them, Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you and obey you rather than God, you must decide (judge).

20 Б о не можемо ми не казати про те, що ми бачили й чули!

But we cannot help telling what we have seen and heard.

21 А вони пригрозили їм ще, і відпустили їх, не знайшовши нічого, щоб їх покарати, через людей, бо всі славили Бога за теє, що сталось.

Then when had further threatened them, they let them go, not seeing how they could secure a conviction against them because of the people; for everybody was praising and glorifying God for what had occurred.

22 Б о років більш сорока мав той чоловік, що на нім відбулося це чудо вздоровлення.

For the man on whom this sign (miracle) of healing was performed was more than forty years old.

23 К оли ж їх відпустили, вони до своїх прибули й сповістили, про що первосвященики й старші до них говорили.

After they were permitted to go, returned to their own and told all that the chief priests and elders had said to them.

24 В они ж, вислухавши, однодушно свій голос до Бога піднесли й промовили: Владико, що небо, і землю, і море, і все, що в них є, Ти створив!

And when they heard it, lifted their voices together with one united mind to God and said, O Sovereign Lord, You are He Who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything that is in them,

25 Т и устами Давида, Свого слуги, отця нашого, сказав Духом Святим: Чого люди бунтуються, а народи задумують марне?

Who by the mouth of our forefather David, Your servant and child, said through the Holy Spirit, Why did the heathen (Gentiles) become wanton and insolent and rage, and the people imagine and study and plan vain (fruitless) things ?

26 П овстають царі земні, і збираються старші докупи на Господа та на Христа Його.

The kings of the earth took their stand in array and the rulers were assembled and combined together against the Lord and against His Anointed (Christ, the Messiah).

27 Б о справді зібралися в місці оцім проти Отрока Святого Твого Ісуса, що Його намастив Ти, Ірод та Понтій Пилат із поганами та з народом Ізраїлевим,

For in this city there actually met and plotted together against Your holy Child and Servant Jesus, Whom You consecrated by anointing, both Herod and Pontius Pilate with the Gentiles and peoples of Israel,

28 у чинити оте, що рука Твоя й воля Твоя наперед встановили були, щоб збулося.

To carry out all that Your hand and Your will and purpose had predestined (predetermined) should occur.

29 І тепер споглянь, Господи, на їхні погрози, і дай Своїм рабам із повною сміливістю слово Твоє повідати,

And now, Lord, observe their threats and grant to Your bond servants to declare Your message fearlessly,

30 к оли руку Свою простягатимеш Ти на вздоровлення, і щоб знамена та чуда чинились Ім'ям Твого Святого Отрока Ісуса.

While You stretch out Your hand to cure and to perform signs and wonders through the authority and by the power of the name of Your holy Child and Servant Jesus.

31 Я к вони ж помолились, затряслося те місце, де зібрались були, і переповнилися всі Святим Духом, і зачали говорити Слово Боже з сміливістю!

And when they had prayed, the place in which they were assembled was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they continued to speak the Word of God with freedom and boldness and courage.

32 А люди, що ввірували, мали серце одне й одну душу, і жаден із них не вважав що з маєтку свого за своє, але в них усе спільним було.

Now the company of believers was of one heart and soul, and not one of them claimed that anything which he possessed was his own, but everything they had was in common and for the use of all.

33 І апостоли з великою силою свідчили про воскресення Ісуса Господа, і благодать велика на всіх них була!

And with great strength and ability and power the apostles delivered their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace (loving-kindness and favor and goodwill) rested richly upon them all.

34 Б о жаден із них не терпів недостачі: бо, хто мав поле чи дім, продавали, і заплату за продаж приносили,

Nor was there a destitute or needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses proceeded to sell them, and one by one they brought (gave back) the amount received from the sales

35 т а й клали в ногах у апостолів, і роздавалося кожному, хто потребу в чім мав.

And laid it at the feet of the apostles (special messengers). Then distribution was made according as anyone had need.

36 Т ак, Йосип, що Варнавою що в перекладі є син потіхи був прозваний від апостолів, Левит, родом кіпрянин,

Now Joseph, a Levite and native of Cyprus who was surnamed Barnabas by the apostles, which interpreted means Son of Encouragement,

37 м авши поле, продав, а гроші приніс, та й поклав у ногах у апостолів.

Sold a field which belonged to him and brought the sum of money and laid it at the feet of the apostles.
