1 С лова Амоса, що був між вівчарями з Текої, які він бачив на Ізраїля за днів Уззійї, Юдиного царя, та за днів Єровоама, Йоашового сина, Ізраїлевого царя, за два роки перед землетрусом.

The words of Amos, who was among the herdsmen and sheep masters of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

2 І він проказав: Загримить із Сіону Господь, і з Єрусалиму Свій голос подасть, і впадуть пасовища пастуші в жалобу та всохне вершина Кармелу!

And he said, The Lord roars out of Zion and utters His voice from Jerusalem; then the pastures of the shepherds mourn and the top of Carmel dries up.

3 Т ак говорить Господь: За три переступи Дамаску й за чотири цього не прощу: за те, що вони молотили Ґілеада ціпами залізними.

Thus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Damascus and for four, I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because they have threshed Gilead with iron sledges.

4 І пошлю Я огонь на дім Хазаїла, і пожере він палати Бен-Гадада.

So I will send a fire upon the house of Hazael which shall devour the palaces and strongholds of Ben-hadad.

5 І зламаю засува Дамаску, і мешканця витну з долини Авен, і того, хто держатиме берло з Бет-Едене, і арамський народ піде в Кір на вигнання, говорить Господь.

I will break also the bar of Damascus and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven or On, and him who holds the scepter from Beth-eden; and the people of Syria shall go into exile to Kir, says the Lord.

6 Т ак говорить Господь: За три переступи Аззи й за чотири цього не прощу: що всіх гнали в полон, щоб віддати Едомові.

Thus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Gaza and for four, I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because they carried away captive the whole population and delivered them up to Edom.

7 І пошлю Я огонь на мур Ґази, і поїсть він палати її.

So I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza which shall devour its strongholds.

8 І мешканця витну з Ашдоду, і берлодержця з Ашкелону, і зверну Свою руку на Екрон, і вигинуть рештки филистимлян, говорить Господь.

And I will cut off the inhabitants from Ashdod and him who holds the scepter from Ashkelon, and I will turn My hand against Ekron; and the rest of the Philistines shall perish, says the Lord God.

9 Т ак говорить Господь: За три переступи Тиру й за чотири цього не прощу: за те, що він видав усіх на вигнання в Едом, і не пам'ятав заповіту братів.

Thus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Tyre and for four, I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because they delivered up a whole population to Edom and did not remember their brotherly covenant.

10 І пошлю Я огонь на мур Тиру, і пожере він палати його!

So I will send a fire on the wall of Tyre which shall devour its strongholds.

11 Т ак говорить Господь: За три переступи Едому й за чотири цього не прощу: за те, що мечем він гнав брата свого, і знищив своє милосердя, свій гнів завжди стеріг, а лютість свою пильнував повсякчасно.

Thus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Edom and for four, I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because he pursued his brother Jacob (Israel) with the sword, corrupting his compassions and casting off all pity, and his anger tore perpetually and his wrath he kept and heeded forever.

12 І пошлю Я огонь до Теману і пожере він палати Боцри!

So I will send a fire upon Teman which shall devour the strongholds of Bozrah.

13 Т ак говорить Господь: За три переступи Аммонових синів й за чотири цього не прощу: за те, що пороли ґілеадських вагітних, щоб поширити границі свої!

Thus says the Lord: For three transgressions of the children of Ammon and for four, I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because have ripped up women with child in Gilead, that they might enlarge their border.

14 І огонь запалю Я на мурі Рабби, і пожере він палати її, із криком в день бою, із вихром в день бурі.

So I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah and it shall devour the strongholds of it, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind;

15 І піде їхній цар на вигнання, він і князі його разом, говорить Господь.

And their king shall go into exile, he and his princes together, says the Lord.
