1 D avid hizo casas para sí en la ciudad de David, y preparó un lugar para el arca de Dios y levantó una tienda para ella.

David made for himself houses in the City of David, and he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it.

2 E ntonces David dijo: “Nadie ha de llevar el arca de Dios sino los Levitas; porque el Señor los escogió para llevar el arca de Dios y servirle a El para siempre.”

Then David said, None should carry the ark of God but the Levites, for the Lord chose them to carry the ark of God and to minister to Him forever.

3 D avid congregó a todo Israel en Jerusalén para subir el arca del Señor al lugar que había preparado para ella.

And David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the Lord to its place, which he had prepared for it.

4 T ambién David reunió a los hijos de Aarón y a los Levitas:

And David gathered together the sons of Aaron and the Levites:

5 d e los hijos de Coat: Uriel el jefe, y 120 de sus parientes;

Of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, with 120 kinsmen;

6 d e los hijos de Merari: Asaías el jefe, y 220 de sus parientes;

Of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, with 220 kinsmen;

7 d e los hijos de Gersón: Joel el jefe, y 130 de sus parientes;

Of the sons of Gershom, Joel the chief, with 130 kinsmen;

8 d e los hijos de Elizafán: Semaías el jefe, y 200 de sus parientes;

Of the sons of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the chief, with 200 kinsmen;

9 d e los hijos de Hebrón: Eliel el jefe, y 80 de sus parientes;

Of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief, with 80 kinsmen;

10 d e los hijos de Uziel: Aminadab el jefe, y 112 de sus parientes.

Of the sons of Uzziel, Amminadab the chief, with 112 kinsmen.

11 E ntonces David hizo llamar a los sacerdotes Sadoc y Abiatar y a los Levitas Uriel, Asaías, Joel, Semaías, Eliel y Aminadab,

And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites—Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab,

12 y les dijo: “Ustedes son los jefes de las casas paternas de los Levitas. Santifíquense, tanto ustedes como sus parientes, para que suban el arca del Señor, Dios de Israel, al lugar que le he preparado.

And said to them, You are the heads of the fathers’ houses of the Levites; sanctify yourselves, both you and your brethren, that you may bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel, to the place that I have prepared for it.

13 P uesto que ustedes no la llevaron la primera vez, el Señor nuestro Dios estalló en ira contra nosotros, ya que no Lo buscamos conforme a la ordenanza.”

For because you bore it not at the first, the Lord our God broke forth upon us—because we did not seek Him in the way He ordained.

14 S e santificaron, pues, los sacerdotes y los Levitas para subir el arca del Señor, Dios de Israel.

So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel.

15 L os hijos de los Levitas llevaron el arca de Dios sobre sus hombros, con las barras puestas, como Moisés había ordenado conforme a la palabra del Señor.

The Levites carried the ark of God on their shoulders with the poles, as Moses commanded by the word of the Lord.

16 E ntonces David habló a los jefes de los Levitas para que designaran a sus parientes los cantores, con instrumentos de música, arpas, liras y címbalos muy resonantes, alzando la voz con alegría.

David told the chief Levites to appoint their brethren the singers with instruments of music—harps, lyres, and cymbals—to play loudly and lift up their voices with joy.

17 Y los Levitas designaron a Hemán, hijo de Joel; y de sus parientes, a Asaf, hijo de Berequías; y de los hijos de Merari, sus parientes, a Etán, hijo de Cusaías,

So the Levites appointed Heman son of Joel; and of his brethren, Asaph son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan son of Kushaiah;

18 y con ellos en segundo lugar a sus parientes: Zacarías, Ben, Jaaziel, Semiramot, Jehiel, Uni, Eliab, Benaía, Maasías, Matatías, Elifelehu, Micnías, Obed Edom y Jeiel, los porteros.

And with them their brethren of the second class: Zechariah, Ben, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, and Mikneiah, and also the gatekeepers, Obed-edom and Jeiel.

19 L os cantores Hemán, Asaf y Etán fueron designados para hacer resonar címbalos de bronce;

So the singers Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed to sound bronze cymbals;

20 Z acarías, Aziel, Semiramot, Jehiel, Uni, Eliab, Maasías y Benaía, con arpas templadas para alamot (arpas con notas altas);

Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah were to play harps set to Alamoth;

21 M atatías, Elifelehu, Micnías, Obed Edom, Jeiel y Azazías, para dirigir con liras templadas para el seminit (arpas de ocho cuerdas).

Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah were to lead with lyres set to Sheminith.

22 Q uenanías, jefe de los Levitas, estaba a cargo del canto; él dirigía el canto, porque era hábil.

Chenaniah, leader of the Levites in singing, was put in charge of carrying the ark and lifting up song. He instructed about these matters because he was skilled and able.

23 B erequías y Elcana eran porteros del arca.

Berechiah and Elkanah were gatekeepers for the ark.

24 S ebanías, Josafat, Natanael, Amasai, Zacarías, Benaía y Eliezer, los sacerdotes, tocaban las trompetas delante del arca de Dios. Obed Edom y Jehías también eran porteros del arca.

Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer the priests were to blow the trumpets before the ark of God. And Obed-edom and Jehiah (Jeiel) were also gatekeepers for the ark.

25 F ue, pues, David con los ancianos de Israel y los capitanes sobre miles a traer con alegría el arca del pacto del Señor desde la casa de Obed Edom.

So David, the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the house of Obed-edom with joy.

26 Y como Dios ayudaba a los Levitas que llevaban el arca del pacto del Señor, ellos sacrificaron siete novillos y siete carneros.

And when God helped the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, they offered seven bulls and seven rams.

27 D avid iba vestido de un manto de lino fino, también todos los Levitas que llevaban el arca, asimismo los cantores y Quenanías, director de canto entre los cantores. David además llevaba encima un efod de lino.

David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were the Levites who bore the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah, director of the music of the singers. David also wore an ephod of linen.

28 A sí todo Israel iba subiendo el arca del pacto del Señor con aclamaciones, con sonido de bocina, con trompetas, con címbalos muy resonantes, con arpas y liras.

Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting, sound of the cornet, trumpets, and cymbals, sounding aloud with harps and lyres.

29 Y sucedió que cuando el arca del pacto del Señor entró en la ciudad de David, Mical, hija de Saúl, miró por la ventana, y vio al rey David saltando y regocijándose; y lo despreció en su corazón.

As the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul, looking from a window, saw King David leaping as in sport, and she despised him in her heart.
