1 O igan esta palabra que el Señor ha hablado contra ustedes, Israelitas, contra toda la familia que El sacó de la tierra de Egipto:

Hear this word that the Lord has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt:

2 “ Sólo a ustedes he escogido (he conocido) de todas las familias de la tierra; Por eso los castigaré (los visitaré) por todas sus iniquidades.”

You only have I known (chosen, sympathized with, and loved) of all the families of the earth; therefore I will visit upon you all your wickedness and punish you for all your iniquities.

3 ¿ Andan dos hombres juntos si no se han puesto de acuerdo?

Do two walk together except they make an appointment and have agreed?

4 ¿ Ruge un león en la selva sin tener presa? ¿Gruñe un leoncillo desde su guarida si no ha apresado algo ?

Will a lion roar in the forest when he has no prey? Will a young lion cry out of his den if he has taken nothing?

5 ¿ Cae un ave en la trampa en la tierra si no hay cebo en ella? ¿Se levanta la trampa del suelo si no ha atrapado algo?

Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth where there is no trap for him? Does a trap spring up from the ground when nothing at all has sprung it?

6 S i se toca la trompeta en la ciudad, ¿no temblará el pueblo? Si sucede una calamidad en la ciudad, ¿no la ha causado el Señor ?

Shall a trumpet be blown in the city and the people not be alarmed and afraid? Shall misfortune or evil occur and the Lord has not caused it?

7 C iertamente el Señor Dios no hace nada Sin revelar Su secreto A Sus siervos los profetas.

Surely the Lord God will do nothing without revealing His secret to His servants the prophets.

8 H a rugido un león, ¿quién no temerá? Ha hablado el Señor Dios, ¿quién no profetizará ?

The lion has roared; who will not fear? The Lord God has spoken; who can but prophesy?

9 P roclamen en los palacios (las fortalezas) de Asdod y en los palacios de la tierra de Egipto, y digan: “Congréguense en los montes de Samaria y vean los grandes tumultos dentro de ella y la opresión en medio suyo.

Publish to the strongholds in Ashdod and to the strongholds in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold what great tumults (confusion and disorder) are in her and what oppressions are in the midst of her.

10 N o saben hacer lo recto,” declara el Señor, “los que acumulan violencia y destrucción en sus palacios.”

For they know not how to do right, says the Lord, they who store up violence and robbery in their strongholds.

11 P or tanto, así dice el Señor Dios: “Un enemigo, rodeando la tierra, Echará abajo tu poder Y serán saqueados tus palacios.”

Therefore thus says the Lord God: An adversary shall surround the land, and he shall bring down your defenses from you and your strongholds shall be plundered.

12 A sí dice el Señor: “Como el pastor rescata de la boca del león dos patas o un pedazo de oreja, Así serán rescatados los Israelitas que moran en Samaria, En la esquina de una cama y en la cubierta de un sofá.

Thus says the Lord: As the shepherd rescues out of the mouth of the lion two legs or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Israel who dwell in Samaria be rescued with the corner of a couch and the damask covering of a bed.

13 O igan y testifiquen contra la casa de Jacob,” Declara el Señor Dios, el Dios de los ejércitos.

Hear and bear witness in the house of Jacob, says the Lord God, the God of hosts,

14 “ Porque el día que Yo castigue las transgresiones de Israel, Castigaré también los altares de Betel (Casa de Dios); Los cuernos del altar serán cortados Y caerán a tierra.

That in the day when I visit Israel’s transgressions upon him I will also visit the altars of Bethel, and the horns of the altar shall be cut off and fall to the ground.

15 D erribaré también la casa de invierno junto con la casa de verano; También perecerán las casas de marfil, Y muchas casas serán destruidas,” Declara el Señor.

And I will smite the winter house with the summer house, and the houses of ivory shall perish and the many and great houses shall come to an end, says the Lord.
