1 P ero cierto hombre llamado Ananías, con Safira su mujer, vendió una propiedad,

But a certain man named Ananias with his wife Sapphira sold a piece of property,

2 y se quedó con parte del precio, sabiéndolo también su mujer; y trayendo la otra parte, la puso a los pies de los apóstoles.

And with his wife’s knowledge and connivance he kept back and wrongfully appropriated some of the proceeds, bringing only a part and putting it at the feet of the apostles.

3 P ero Pedro dijo: “Ananías, ¿por qué ha llenado Satanás tu corazón para mentir al Espíritu Santo, y quedarte con parte del precio del terreno?

But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart that you should lie to and attempt to deceive the Holy Spirit, and should withdraw secretly and appropriate to your own use part of the price from the sale of the land?

4 M ientras estaba sin venderse, ¿no te pertenecía? Y después de vendida, ¿no estaba bajo tu poder? ¿Por qué concebiste (pusiste) este asunto en tu corazón? No has mentido a los hombres sino a Dios.”

As long as it remained unsold, was it not still your own? And after it was sold, was not at your disposal and under your control? Why then, is it that you have proposed and purposed in your heart to do this thing? You have not lied to men but to God.

5 A l oír Ananías estas palabras, cayó y expiró; y vino un gran temor sobre todos los que lo supieron.

Upon hearing these words, Ananias fell down and died. And great dread and terror took possession of all who heard of it.

6 E ntonces los jóvenes se levantaron y lo cubrieron, y sacándo lo, le dieron sepultura.

And the young men arose and wrapped up and carried it out and buried it.

7 C omo tres horas después entró su mujer, no sabiendo lo que había sucedido.

Now after an interval of about three hours his wife came in, not having learned of what had happened.

8 Y Pedro le preguntó: “Dime, ¿vendieron el terreno en tal precio?” “Sí, ése fue el precio,” dijo ella.

And Peter said to her, Tell me, did you sell the land for so much? Yes, she said, for so much.

9 E ntonces Pedro le dijo: “¿Por qué se pusieron de acuerdo para poner a prueba al Espíritu del Señor ? Mira, los pies de los hombres que sepultaron a tu marido están a la puerta, y te sacarán también a ti.”

Then Peter said to her, How could you two have agreed and conspired together to try to deceive the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! The feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.

10 A l instante ella cayó a los pies de él, y expiró. Al entrar los jóvenes, la hallaron muerta; entonces la sacaron y le dieron sepultura junto a su marido.

And instantly she fell down at his feet and died; and the young men entering found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.

11 Y vino un gran temor sobre toda la iglesia y sobre todos los que supieron estas cosas. Muchas Señales y Prodigios

And the whole church and all others who heard of these things were appalled.

12 P or mano de los apóstoles se realizaban muchas señales (muchos milagros) y prodigios entre el pueblo; y acostumbraban a estar todos de común acuerdo en el pórtico de Salomón.

Now by the hands of the apostles (special messengers) numerous and startling signs and wonders were being performed among the people. And by common consent they all met together in the covered porch (walk) called Solomon’s.

13 P ero ninguno de los demás se atrevía a juntarse con ellos; sin embargo, el pueblo los tenía en gran estima.

And none of those who were not of their number dared to join and associate with them, but the people held them in high regard and praised and made much of them.

14 Y más y más creyentes en el Señor, multitud de hombres y de mujeres, se añadían constantemente al número de ellos,

More and more there were being added to the Lord those who believed, crowds both of men and of women,

15 a tal punto que aun sacaban a los enfermos a las calles y los tendían en lechos y camillas, para que al pasar Pedro, siquiera su sombra cayera sobre alguno de ellos.

So that they kept carrying out the sick into the streets and placing them on couches and sleeping pads, that as Peter passed by, at least his shadow might fall on some of them.

16 T ambién la gente (la multitud) de las ciudades en los alrededores de Jerusalén acudía trayendo enfermos y atormentados por espíritus inmundos, y todos eran sanados. En la Cárcel y Libres otra Vez

And the people gathered also from the towns and hamlets around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those troubled with foul spirits, and they were all cured.

17 P ero levantándose el sumo sacerdote, y todos los que estaban con él, (es decir, la secta de los Saduceos ), se llenaron de celo.

But the high priest rose up and all who were his supporters, that is, the party of the Sadducees, and being filled with jealousy and indignation and rage,

18 E ntonces echaron mano a los apóstoles y los pusieron en una cárcel pública.

They seized and arrested the apostles (special messengers) and put them in the public jail.

19 P ero durante la noche, un ángel del Señor, abrió las puertas de la cárcel y sacándolos, les dijo:

But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and, leading them out, said,

20 “ Vayan, preséntense en el templo, y hablen al pueblo todo el mensaje (todas las palabras) de esta Vida (la Vida eterna que Cristo reveló).”

Go, take your stand in the temple courts and declare to the people the whole doctrine concerning this Life (the eternal life which Christ revealed).

21 H abiendo oído esto, al amanecer entraron en el templo y enseñaban. Cuando llegaron el sumo sacerdote y los que estaban con él, convocaron al Concilio (Sanedrín), es decir, a todo el Senado de los Israelitas. Y mandaron traer de la cárcel a los apóstoles.

And when they heard this, they accordingly went into the temple about daybreak and began to teach. Now the high priest and his supporters who were with him arrived and called together the council (Sanhedrin), even all the senate of the sons of Israel, and they sent to the prison to have brought.

22 P ero los guardias que fueron no los encontraron en la cárcel; volvieron, pues, y les informaron:

But when the attendants arrived there, they failed to find them in the jail; so they came back and reported,

23 “ Encontramos la cárcel cerrada con toda seguridad y los guardias de pie a las puertas; pero cuando abrimos, a nadie hallamos dentro.”

We found the prison quite safely locked up and the guards were on duty outside the doors, but when we opened, we found no one on the inside.

24 C uando oyeron estas palabras el capitán de la guardia del templo y los principales sacerdotes, se quedaron muy perplejos a causa de ellas, pensando en qué terminaría aquello.

Now when the military leader of the temple area and the chief priests heard these facts, they were much perplexed and thoroughly at a loss about them, wondering into what this might grow.

25 P ero alguien se presentó y les informó: “Miren, los hombres que pusieron en la cárcel están en el templo enseñando al pueblo.”

But some man came and reported to them, saying, Listen! The men whom you put in jail are standing in the temple and teaching the people!

26 E ntonces el capitán fue con los guardias y los trajo sin violencia porque temían al pueblo, no fuera que los apedrearan.

Then the military leader went with the attendants and brought, but without violence, for they dreaded the people lest they be stoned by them.

27 C uando los trajeron, los pusieron ante el Concilio (Sanedrín), y el sumo sacerdote los interrogó:

So they brought them and set them before the council (Sanhedrin). And the high priest examined them by questioning,

28 “ Les dimos órdenes estrictas de no continuar enseñando en este Nombre, y han llenado a Jerusalén con sus enseñanzas, y quieren traer sobre nosotros la sangre de este Hombre.”

Saying, We definitely commanded and strictly charged you not to teach in or about this Name; yet here you have flooded Jerusalem with your doctrine and you intend to bring this Man’s blood upon us.

29 P ero Pedro y los apóstoles respondieron: “Debemos obedecer a Dios en vez de obedecer a los hombres.

Then Peter and the apostles replied, We must obey God rather than men.

30 E l Dios de nuestros padres (antepasados) resucitó a Jesús, a quien ustedes mataron y colgaron en una cruz (un madero).

The God of our forefathers raised up Jesus, Whom you killed by hanging Him on a tree (cross).

31 A El Dios Lo exaltó a Su diestra como Príncipe y Salvador, para dar arrepentimiento a Israel, y perdón de pecados.

God exalted Him to His right hand to be Prince and Leader and Savior and Deliverer and Preserver, in order to grant repentance to Israel and to bestow forgiveness and release from sins.

32 Y nosotros somos testigos (de El) de estas cosas; y también el Espíritu Santo, el cual Dios ha dado a los que Le obedecen.” El Consejo de Gamaliel

And we are witnesses of these things, and the Holy Spirit is also, Whom God has bestowed on those who obey Him.

33 C uando ellos oyeron esto, se sintieron profundamente ofendidos y querían matarlos.

Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart and infuriated and wanted to kill the disciples.

34 P ero cierto Fariseo llamado Gamaliel, maestro de la Ley, respetado por todo el pueblo, se levantó en el Concilio (Sanedrín) y ordenó que sacaran fuera a los apóstoles por un momento.

But a certain Pharisee in the council (Sanhedrin) named Gamaliel, a teacher of the Law, highly esteemed by all the people, standing up, ordered that the apostles be taken outside for a little while.

35 E ntonces les dijo: “Hombres de Israel, tengan cuidado de lo que van a hacer con estos hombres.

Then he addressed them: Men of Israel, take care in regard to what you propose to do concerning these men.

36 P orque hace algún tiempo Teudas se levantó pretendiendo ser alguien; y un grupo como de 400 hombres se unió a él. Y fue muerto, y todos los que lo seguían (obedecían) fueron dispersos y reducidos a nada.

For before our time there arose Theudas, asserting himself to be a person of importance, with whom a number of men allied themselves, about 400; but he was killed and all who had listened to and adhered to him were scattered and brought to nothing.

37 D espués de él, se levantó Judas de Galilea en los días del censo, y llevó mucha gente tras sí; él también pereció, y todos los que lo seguían se dispersaron.

And after this one rose up Judas the Galilean, during the time of the census, and drew away a popular following after him; he also perished and all his adherents were scattered.

38 “ Por tanto, en este caso les digo que no tengan nada que ver con estos hombres y déjenlos en paz, porque si este plan o acción es de los hombres, perecerá;

Now in the present case let me say to you, stand off (withdraw) from these men and let them alone. For if this doctrine or purpose or undertaking or movement is of human origin, it will fail (be overthrown and come to nothing);

39 p ero si es de Dios, no podrán destruirlos; no sea que se hallen luchando contra Dios.”

But if it is of God, you will not be able to stop or overthrow or destroy them; you might even be found fighting against God!

40 E llos aceptaron su consejo, y después de llamar a los apóstoles, los azotaron y les ordenaron que no hablaran más en el nombre de Jesús y los soltaron.

So, convinced by him, they took his advice; and summoning the apostles, they flogged them and sternly forbade them to speak in or about the name of Jesus, and allowed them to go.

41 L os apóstoles, pues, salieron de la presencia del Concilio (Sanedrín), regocijándose de que hubieran sido considerados dignos de sufrir afrenta por Su Nombre.

So they went out from the presence of the council (Sanhedrin), rejoicing that they were being counted worthy to suffer shame and be exposed to disgrace for His name.

42 Y todos los días, en el templo y de casa en casa, no cesaban de enseñar y proclamar el evangelio (las buenas nuevas) de Jesús como el Cristo (el Mesías).

Yet they never ceased for a single day, both in the temple area and at home, to teach and to proclaim the good news (Gospel) of Jesus the Christ (the Messiah).
