1 ¿ Por qué, Dios, nos has desechado para siempre? ¿Por qué se ha encendido tu furor contra las ovejas de tu prado?

O God, why do You cast us off forever? Why does Your anger burn and smoke against the sheep of Your pasture?

2 A cuérdate de tu congregación, la que adquiriste desde tiempos antiguos, la que redimiste para hacerla la tribu de tu herencia; este monte Sión, donde has habitado.

remember Your congregation which You have acquired of old, which You have redeemed to be the tribe of Your heritage; remember Mount Zion, where You have dwelt.

3 D irige tus pasos a las ruinas eternas, a todo el mal que el enemigo ha hecho en el santuario.

Direct Your feet to the perpetual ruins and desolations; the foe has devastated and desecrated everything in the sanctuary.

4 T us enemigos vociferan en medio de tus asambleas; han puesto sus estandartes por señal.

In the midst of Your Holy Place Your enemies have roared; they set up their own emblems for signs.

5 S on como los que levantan el hacha en medio de tupido bosque,

They seemed like men who lifted up axes upon a thicket of trees to make themselves a record.

6 y ahora con hachas y martillos han quebrado todas sus entalladuras.

And then all the carved wood of the Holy Place they broke down with hatchets and hammers.

7 H an puesto a fuego tu santuario, han profanado y echado a tierra el tabernáculo de tu nombre.

They have set Your sanctuary on fire; they have profaned the dwelling place of Your Name by casting it to the ground.

8 D ijeron en su corazón: «¡Destruyámoslos de una vez!» ¡Han quemado en la tierra todas las moradas de Dios!

They said in their hearts, Let us make havoc altogether. They have burned up all God’s meetinghouses in the land.

9 N o vemos ya nuestras señales; no hay más profeta, ni hay entre nosotros quien sepa hasta cuándo.

We do not see our symbols; there is no longer any prophet, neither does any among us know for how long.

10 ¿ Hasta cuándo, Dios, nos insultará el angustiador? ¿Ha de blasfemar el enemigo perpetuamente contra tu nombre?

O God, how long is the adversary to scoff and reproach? Is the enemy to blaspheme and revile Your name forever?

11 ¿ Por qué retraes tu mano? ¿Por qué escondes tu diestra en tu seno?

Why do You hold back Your hand, even Your right hand? Draw it out of Your bosom and consume them!

12 P ero Dios es mi rey desde tiempo antiguo; el que obra salvación en medio de la tierra.

Yet God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.

13 D ividiste el mar con tu poder; quebraste en las aguas cabezas de monstruos.

You did divide the Sea by Your might; You broke the heads of the dragons in the waters.

14 A plastaste las cabezas del Leviatán y lo diste por comida a los habitantes del desierto.

You crushed the heads of Leviathan (Egypt); You did give him as food for the creatures inhabiting the wilderness.

15 A briste la fuente y el río; secaste ríos impetuosos.

You did cleave open fountains and streams; You dried up mighty, ever-flowing rivers (the Jordan).

16 T uyo es el día, tuya también es la noche; tú estableciste la luna y el sol.

The day is Yours, the night also is Yours; You have established the light and the sun.

17 T ú fijaste todos los términos de la tierra; el verano y el invierno tú los formaste.

You have fixed all the borders of the earth; You have made summer and winter.

18 A cuérdate de esto: que el enemigo ha afrentado a Jehová y un pueblo insensato ha blasfemado contra tu nombre.

remember how the enemy has scoffed, O Lord, and reproached You, and how a foolish and impious people has blasphemed Your name.

19 ¡ No entregues a las fieras el alma de tu tórtola! ¡No olvides para siempre la vida de tus pobres!

Oh, do not deliver the life of your turtledove to the wild beast (to the greedy multitude); forget not the life of Your poor forever.

20 ¡ Mira al pacto, porque los lugares tenebrosos de la tierra están llenos de habitaciones de violencia!

Have regard for the covenant, for the dark places of the land are full of the habitations of violence.

21 N o vuelva avergonzado el abatido; ¡el afligido y el menesteroso alabarán tu nombre!

Oh, let not the downtrodden return in shame; let the oppressed and needy praise Your name.

22 ¡ Levántate, Dios! ¡Aboga tu causa! ¡Acuérdate de cómo el insensato te insulta cada día!

Arise, O God, plead Your own cause; remember how the foolish and impious man scoffs and reproaches You day after day and all day long.

23 N o olvides los gritos de tus enemigos; sube sin cesar el alboroto de los que se levantan contra ti.

Do not forget the voices of Your adversaries, the tumult of those who rise up against You, which ascends continually.
