1 L a parte que tocó en suerte a la tribu de los hijos de Judá, conforme a sus familias, llegaba hasta la frontera de Edom, y tenía el desierto de Zin, al sur, como su extremo meridional.

The lot for the tribe of Judah according to its families reached southward to the boundary of Edom, to the Wilderness of Zin at its most southern part.

2 S u límite por el lado del sur partía de la costa del Mar Salado —desde la bahía que mira hacia el sur—;

And their south boundary was from the end of the Salt Sea, from the bay that faces southward;

3 l uego salía hacia el sur de la subida de Acrabim, pasaba hacia Zin y subía por el sur hasta Cades-barnea; pasando por Hezrón, subía hacia Adar y daba vuelta a Carca.

It went out south of the ascent of Akrabbim, passed along to Zin, and went up south of Kadesh-barnea, along by Hezron, up to Addar, and turned about to Karka,

4 D e allí pasaba por Asmón, salía al arroyo de Egipto y terminaba en el mar. Éste, pues, os será el límite del sur.

Passed along to Azmon, went out by the Brook of Egypt, and ended at the sea. This was their southern frontier.

5 E l límite oriental es el Mar Salado hasta la desembocadura del Jordán. El límite por el lado del norte, partía de la bahía del mar, en la desembocadura del Jordán.

The eastern boundary was the Salt Sea as far as the mouth of the Jordan. The northern boundary was from the bay of the sea at the mouth of the Jordan;

6 E ste límite sube por Bet-hogla, pasa al norte de Bet-arabá, y de aquí sube a la piedra de Bohán hijo de Rubén.

And the boundary went up to Beth-hogla and passed along north of Beth-arabah and went up to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben.

7 L uego sube a Debir desde el valle de Acor, y al norte mira sobre Gilgal, que está enfrente de la subida de Adumín, al sur del arroyo; pasa por las aguas de En-semes y sale a la fuente Rogel.

And the boundary went up to Debir from the Valley of Achor, and so northward, turning toward Gilgal, which is opposite the ascent to Adummim on the south side of the valley; and it passed on to the waters of En-shemesh and ended at En-rogel.

8 S ube este límite por el valle del hijo de Hinom, al lado sur del jebuseo, que es Jerusalén. Luego sube por la cumbre del monte que está enfrente del valle de Hinom, hacia el occidente, el cual está al extremo del valle de Refaim, por el lado del norte.

Then the boundary went up by the Valley of Ben-hinnom at the southern shoulder of the Jebusite —that is, Jerusalem; and the boundary went up to the top of the mountain that lies before the Valley of Hinnom on the west, at the northern end of the Valley of Rephaim.

9 E ste límite tuerce desde la cumbre del monte hasta la fuente de las aguas de Neftoa, y sale a las ciudades del monte Efrón para volverse luego hacia Baala, que es Quiriat-jearim.

Then the boundary extended from the top of the mountain to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah and went on to the cities of Mount Ephron; then it bent round to Baalah, that is, Kiriath-jearim.

10 D espués gira este límite desde Baala hacia el occidente a los montes de Seir y, pasando por el lado norte del monte Jearim, el cual es Quesalón, desciende a Bet-semes y pasa a Timna.

And the boundary went around west of Baalah to Mount Seir, passed along to the northern side of Mount Jearim, which is Chesalon, went down to Beth-shemesh, and then passed on by Timnah.

11 S ale luego del lado norte de Ecrón y vuelve hacia Sicrón, pasa por el monte Baala, sale a Jabneel y termina en el mar.

And the boundary went out to the shoulder of the hill north of Ekron, then bent round to Shikkeron, and passed along to Mount Baalah, and went out to Jabneel. Then the boundary ended at the sea.

12 E l límite del occidente es el Mar Grande. Éste era el límite del territorio de los hijos de Judá, conforme a sus familias. Caleb conquista Hebrón y Debir

And the west boundary was the Great Sea with its coastline. This is the boundary round about the people of Judah according to their families.

13 A Caleb hijo de Jefone se le dio su parte entre los hijos de Judá, conforme al mandamiento de Jehová a Josué: Quiriat-arba, la ciudad del padre de Anac, que es Hebrón.

And to Caleb son of Jephunneh, gave a part among the people of Judah, as the Lord commanded; it was Kiriath-arba, which is Hebron, Arba the father of Anak.

14 C aleb echó de allí a los tres hijos de Anac: a Sesai, Ahimán y Talmai, descendientes de Anac.

And Caleb drove from there the three sons of Anak—Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai—the descendants of Anak.

15 D e aquí subió contra los que habitaban en Debir, que antes se llamaba Quiriat-sefer.

He went up from there against the people of Debir. Debir was formerly named Kiriath-sepher.

16 E ntonces dijo Caleb: «Al que ataque Quiriat-sefer y la tome, yo le daré a mi hija Acsa por mujer.»

Caleb said, He who smites Kiriath-sepher and takes it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter as wife.

17 O toniel hijo de Cenaz y hermano de Caleb, la tomó, y él le dio a su hija Acsa por mujer.

And Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb’s brother, took it; and he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife.

18 Y aconteció que cuando se la llevaba, éste la persuadió que pidiera a su padre tierras para labrar. Ella se bajó del asno, y Caleb le preguntó: —¿Qué tienes?

When Achsah came to Othniel, she got his consent to ask her father for a field. Then she returned to Caleb and when she lighted off her donkey, Caleb said, What do you wish?

19 — Concédeme un don —respondió ella—; puesto que me has dado tierra del Neguev, dame también fuentes de aguas. Él entonces le dio las fuentes de arriba y las de abajo. Las ciudades de Judá

Achsah answered, Give me a present. Since you have set me in the Negeb, give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper and lower springs.

20 É sta, pues, es la heredad de la tribu de los hijos de Judá por sus familias.

This is the inheritance of the tribe of Judah according to their families.

63 P ero los hijos de Judá no pudieron expulsar a los jebuseos que habitaban en Jerusalén. Por eso ha quedado el jebuseo en Jerusalén junto con los hijos de Judá hasta hoy.

But the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the people of Judah could not drive out; so the Jebusites dwell with the people of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.
