1 V ino palabra de Jehová a Jeremías por segunda vez, estando él aún preso en el patio de la cárcel, diciendo:

Moreover, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the second time, while he was still shut up in the court of the guard, saying,

2 « Así ha dicho Jehová, que hizo la tierra, Jehová que la formó para afirmarla; Jehová es su nombre:

Thus says the Lord Who made, the Lord Who formed it to establish it—the Lord is His name:

3 C lama a mí y yo te responderé, y te enseñaré cosas grandes y ocultas que tú no conoces.

Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know (do not distinguish and recognize, have knowledge of and understand).

4 P orque así ha dicho Jehová, Dios de Israel, acerca de las casas de esta ciudad y de las casas de los reyes de Judá, derribadas por el ariete y la espada

For thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city and the houses of the kings of Judah which are torn down to make a defense against the siege mounds and before the sword:

5 ( porque salir a enfrentarse con los caldeos será llenarlas de cadáveres, de muertos heridos por mi furor y mi ira, pues escondí mi rostro de esta ciudad a causa de toda su maldad):

They are coming in to fight against the Chaldeans, and they will be filled with the dead bodies of men whom I shall slay in My anger and My wrath; for I have hidden My face from this city because of all their wickedness.

6 Y o les traeré sanidad y medicina; los curaré y les revelaré abundancia de paz y de verdad.

Behold, I will lay upon it health and healing, and I will cure them and will reveal to them the abundance of peace (prosperity, security, stability) and truth.

7 H aré volver los cautivos de Judá y los cautivos de Israel, y los restableceré como al principio.

And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to be reversed and will rebuild them as they were at first.

8 L os limpiaré de toda su maldad con que pecaron contra mí, y perdonaré todas sus iniquidades con que contra mí pecaron y contra mí se rebelaron.

And I will cleanse them from all the guilt and iniquity by which they have sinned against Me, and I will forgive all their guilt and iniquities by which they have sinned and rebelled against Me.

9 E sta ciudad me será por nombre de gozo, de alabanza y de gloria entre todas las naciones de la tierra, cuando oigan todo el bien que yo les hago. Temerán y temblarán por todo el bien y toda la paz que yo les daré.

And shall be to Me a name of joy, a praise and a glory before all the nations of the earth that hear of all the good I do for it, and they shall fear and tremble because of all the good and all the peace, prosperity, security, and stability I provide for it.

10 » Así ha dicho Jehová: En este lugar, del cual decís que está desierto, sin hombres y sin animales, en las ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén, que están asoladas, sin nadie que habite allí, ni hombre ni animal,

Thus says the Lord: Yet again there shall be heard in this place of which you say, It is a desolate waste, without man and without beast—even in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without beast—

11 h a de oírse aún voz de gozo y de alegría; voz de novio y voz de novia; voz de los que digan: “¡Alabad a Jehová de los ejércitos, porque Jehová es bueno, porque para siempre es su misericordia!”; voz de los que traigan ofrendas de acción de gracias a la casa de Jehová, porque yo volveré a traer a los cautivos de la tierra, para que sea como al principio, ha dicho Jehová.

the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voices of those who sing as they bring sacrifices of thanksgiving into the house of the Lord, Give praise and thanks to the Lord of hosts, for the Lord is good; for His mercy and kindness and steadfast love endure forever! For I will cause the captivity of the land to be reversed and return to be as it was at first, says the Lord.

12 » Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos: En este lugar desierto, sin hombre ni animal, y en todas sus ciudades, aún habrá cabañas de pastores que hagan pastar sus ganados.

Thus says the Lord of hosts: In this place which is desolate, without man and without beast, and in all its cities, there shall again be dwellings and pastures of shepherds resting their flocks.

13 E n las ciudades de las montañas, en las ciudades de la Sefela, en las ciudades del Neguev, en la tierra de Benjamín, alrededor de Jerusalén y en las ciudades de Judá, aún pasarán ganados por las manos del que los cuente, dice Jehová.

In the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, in the cities of the South (the Negeb), in the land of Benjamin, in the places around Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah shall flocks pass again under the hands of him who counts them, says the Lord.

14 » He aquí vienen días, dice Jehová, en que yo confirmaré la buena palabra que he hablado a la casa de Israel y a la casa de Judá.

Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will fulfill the good promise I have made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah.

15 E n aquellos días y en aquel tiempo haré brotar a David un Renuevo justo, que actuará conforme al derecho y la justicia en la tierra.

In those days and at that time will I cause a righteous Branch to grow up to David; and He shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

16 E n aquellos días Judá será salvo, y Jerusalén habitará segura. Y se le llamará: “Jehová, justicia nuestra”.

In those days Judah shall be saved and Jerusalem shall dwell safely. And this is the name by which it will be called, The Lord is Our Righteousness (our Rightness, our Justice).

17 » Porque así dice Jehová: No faltará a David un descendiente que se siente sobre el trono de la casa de Israel,

For thus says the Lord: David shall never fail a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel,

18 n i a los sacerdotes y levitas faltará un descendiente que delante de mí ofrezca holocausto, encienda ofrenda y haga sacrificio cada día».

Nor shall the Levitical priests fail a man to offer burnt offerings before Me and to burn cereal offerings and to make sacrifices continually (all day long).

19 V ino palabra de Jehová a Jeremías, diciendo:

And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,

20 « Así ha dicho Jehová: Si pudiera invalidarse mi pacto con el día y mi pacto con la noche, de tal manera que no hubiera día ni noche a su debido tiempo,

Thus says the Lord: If you can break My covenant with the day, and My covenant with the night, so that there should not be day and night in their season,

21 p odría también invalidarse mi pacto con mi siervo David, para que deje de tener un hijo que reine sobre su trono, y mi pacto con los levitas y sacerdotes, mis ministros.

Then can also My covenant be broken with David My servant, so that he shall not have a son to reign upon his throne, and with the Levitical priests, My ministers.

22 C omo no puede ser contado el ejército del cielo ni se puede medir la arena del mar, así multiplicaré la descendencia de David, mi siervo, y de los levitas que me sirven.»

As the host of the heavens cannot be numbered nor the sand of the sea be measured, so will I multiply the offspring of David My servant and the Levites who minister to Me.

23 V ino palabra de Jehová a Jeremías, diciendo:

Moreover, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,

24 « ¿No te has fijado en lo que habla este pueblo, diciendo: “Las dos familias que Jehová escogió, las ha desechado”? ¡Así tienen en poco a mi pueblo, que ni siquiera lo tienen por nación!

Have you not noticed that these people are saying, The Lord has cast off the two families which He chose? Thus My people have despised, so that they are no more a nation in their sight.

25 E sto ha dicho Jehová: Si yo no he establecido mi pacto con el día y con la noche, si no he puesto las leyes del cielo y de la tierra,

Thus says the Lord: If My covenant with day and night does not stand, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of the heavens and the earth,

26 e ntonces es cierto que rechazaré la descendencia de Jacob y de David, mi siervo, para no tomar de su descendencia a quien sea señor sobre la posteridad de Abraham, de Isaac y de Jacob. Haré volver sus cautivos y tendré de ellos misericordia.»

Then will I also cast away the descendants of Jacob and David My servant and will not choose one of his offspring to be ruler over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will cause their captivity to be reversed, and I will have mercy, kindness, and steadfast love on and for them.
