1 P rofecía. Palabra de Jehová contra Israel, por medio de Malaquías:

The burden or oracle (the thing to be lifted up) of the word of the Lord to Israel by Malachi.

2 « Yo os he amado, dice Jehová. Pero vosotros dijisteis: “¿En qué nos amaste?” ¿No era Esaú hermano de Jacob?, dice Jehová; sin embargo, amé a Jacob

I have loved you, says the Lord. Yet you say, How and in what way have You loved us? Was not Esau Jacob’s brother? says the Lord; yet I loved Jacob (Israel),

3 y a Esaú aborrecí; convertí sus montes en desolación y abandoné su heredad a los chacales del desierto.

But I have hated Esau and have laid waste his mountains, and his heritage I have given to the jackals of the wilderness.

4 E dom dice: “Nos hemos empobrecido, pero volveremos a edificar lo arruinado.” Pero así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos: Ellos edificarán y yo destruiré; los llamarán territorio de impiedad y pueblo contra el cual Jehová está indignado para siempre.

Though Edom should say, We are beaten down, but we will return and build the waste places—thus says the Lord of hosts: They may build, but I will tear and throw down; and men will call them the Wicked Country, the people against whom the Lord has indignation forever.

5 V uestros ojos lo verán, y diréis: “Sea Jehová engrandecido más allá de los límites de Israel.”

Your own eyes shall see this and you shall say, The Lord is great and will be magnified over and beyond the border of Israel!

6 » El hijo honra al padre y el siervo a su señor. Si, pues, yo soy padre, ¿dónde está mi honra?; y si soy señor, ¿dónde está mi temor?, dice Jehová de los ejércitos a vosotros, sacerdotes, que menospreciáis mi nombre y decís: “¿En qué hemos menospreciado tu nombre?”

A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am a Father, where is My honor? And if I am a Master, where is the fear due Me? says the Lord of hosts to you, O priests, who despise My name. You say, How and in what way have we despised Your name?

7 E n que ofrecéis sobre mi altar pan inmundo. Y todavía decís: “¿En qué te hemos deshonrado?” En que pensáis que la mesa de Jehová es despreciable.

By offering polluted food upon My altar. And you ask, How have we polluted it and profaned You? By thinking that the table of the Lord is contemptible and may be despised.

8 C uando ofrecéis el animal ciego para el sacrificio, ¿acaso no es malo? Asimismo, cuando ofrecéis el cojo o el enfermo, ¿acaso no es malo? Preséntalo, pues, a tu príncipe; ¿acaso le serás grato o te acogerá benévolo?, dice Jehová de los ejércitos.»

When you offer blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? And when you offer the lame and the sick, is it not evil? Present such a thing now to your governor. Will he be pleased with you? Or will he receive you graciously? says the Lord of hosts.

9 A hora, pues, orad por el favor de Dios, para que tenga piedad de nosotros. Pero, «¿cómo podéis agradarle, si hacéis estas cosas?, dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

Now then, I beg, entreat God that He will be gracious to us. With such a gift from your hand, will He accept it or show favor to any of you? says the Lord of hosts.

10 ¿ Quién hay entre vosotros que de balde cierre las puertas o alumbre mi altar? Yo no me complazco en vosotros, dice Jehová de los ejércitos, ni de vuestra mano aceptaré ofrenda.

Oh, that there were even one among you who would shut the doors, that you might not kindle fire on My altar to no purpose! I have no pleasure in you, says the Lord of hosts, nor will I accept an offering from your hand.

11 P orque desde donde el sol nace hasta donde se pone, es grande mi nombre entre las naciones, y en todo lugar se ofrece a mi nombre incienso y ofrenda limpia. Grande es mi nombre entre las naciones, dice Jehová de los ejércitos;

For from the rising of the sun to its setting My name shall be great among the nations, and in every place incense shall be offered to My name, and indeed a pure offering; for My name shall be great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts.

12 p ero vosotros lo profanáis cuando decís: “Inmunda es la mesa de Jehová”, y cuando decís que su alimento es despreciable.

But you profane it when you say, The table of the Lord is polluted, and the fruit of it, its food, is contemptible and may be despised.

13 A demás, habéis dicho: “¡Qué fastidio es esto!”, y me despreciáis, dice Jehová de los ejércitos. Trajisteis lo robado, o cojo, o enfermo, y me lo presentasteis como ofrenda. ¿Aceptaré yo eso de vuestras manos?, dice Jehová.

You say also, Behold, what a drudgery and weariness this is! And you have sniffed at it, says the Lord of hosts. And you have brought that which was taken by violence, or the lame or the sick; this you bring as an offering! Shall I accept this from your hand? says the Lord.

14 M aldito el que engaña, el que teniendo machos en su rebaño promete y sacrifica a Jehová lo dañado. Porque yo soy Gran Rey, dice Jehová de los ejércitos, y mi nombre es temible entre las naciones.

But cursed is the deceiver who has a male in his flock and vows to offer it, yet sacrifices to the Lord a blemished or diseased thing! For I am a great King, says the Lord of hosts, and My name is terrible and to be feared among the nations.
