1 » Ahora, pues, sacerdotes, para vosotros es este mandamiento.

And now, O you priests, this commandment is for you.

2 S i no escucháis y si no decidís de corazón dar gloria a mi nombre, ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, enviaré maldición sobre vosotros y maldeciré vuestras bendiciones; y ya las he maldecido, porque no os habéis decidido de corazón.

If you will not hear and if you will not lay it to heart to give glory to My name, says the Lord of hosts, then I will send the curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings; yes, I have already turned them to curses because you do not lay it to heart.

3 » Yo os dañaré la sementera, os echaré al rostro el estiércol, el estiércol de vuestros animales sacrificados, y seréis arrojados juntamente con él.

Behold, I will rebuke your seed, and I will spread the dung from the festival offerings upon your faces, and you shall be taken away with it.

4 A sí sabréis que yo os envié este mandamiento, para que permanezca mi pacto con Leví, ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos.

And you shall know, recognize, and understand that I have sent this decree to you priests, to be My covenant with Levi, says the Lord of hosts.

5 » Mi pacto con él fue de vida y de paz. Se las di para que me temiera, y él tuvo temor de mí y ante mi nombre guardaba reverencia.

My covenant was to give him life and peace, because of the fear with which would revere Me and stand in awe of My name.

6 L a ley de verdad estuvo en su boca, iniquidad no fue hallada en sus labios; en paz y en justicia anduvo conmigo, y a muchos hizo apartar de la maldad.

The law of truth was in mouth, and unrighteousness was not found in his lips; he walked with Me in peace and uprightness and turned many away from iniquity.

7 P orque los labios del sacerdote han de guardar la sabiduría, y de su boca el pueblo buscará la Ley; porque es mensajero de Jehová de los ejércitos.

For the priest’s lips should guard and keep pure the knowledge, and the people should seek (inquire for and require) instruction at his mouth; for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.

8 » Mas vosotros os habéis apartado del camino; habéis hecho tropezar a muchos en la Ley; habéis corrompido el pacto de Leví, dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

But you have turned aside out of the way; you have caused many to stumble by your instruction; you have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says the Lord of hosts.

9 P or eso yo os he hecho despreciables, viles ante todo el pueblo, porque no habéis guardado mis caminos y hacéis acepción de personas al aplicar la Ley.»

Therefore have I also made you despised and abased before all the people, inasmuch as you have not kept My ways but have shown favoritism to persons in your administration of the law.

10 ¿ Acaso no tenemos todos un mismo Padre? ¿No nos ha creado un mismo Dios? ¿Por qué, pues, somos desleales los unos con los otros, profanando el pacto de nuestros padres?

Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us? Why then do we deal faithlessly and treacherously each against his brother, profaning the covenant of our fathers?

11 P revaricó Judá; en Israel y en Jerusalén se ha cometido abominación, porque Judá ha profanado el santuario de Jehová, el que él amó, al casarse con la hija de un dios extraño.

Judah has been faithless and dealt treacherously, and an abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has profaned the holy sanctuary of the Lord which He loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god.

12 J ehová arrancará de las tiendas de Jacob al hombre que haga esto, al que vela, al que responde y al que ofrece ofrenda a Jehová de los ejércitos.

The Lord will cast out of the tents of Jacob to the last man those who do this, the master and the servant alike, even him who brings an offering to the Lord of hosts.

13 P ero aún hacéis más: Cubrís el altar de Jehová de lágrimas, de llanto y de clamor; así que no miraré más la ofrenda, ni la aceptaré con gusto de vuestras manos.

And this you do with double guilt; you cover the altar of the Lord with tears, and with weeping and crying out because the Lord does not regard your offering any more or accept it with favor at your hand.

14 M as diréis: «¿Por qué?» Porque Jehová es testigo entre ti y la mujer de tu juventud, con la cual has sido desleal, aunque ella era tu compañera y la mujer de tu pacto.

Yet you ask, Why does He reject it? Because the Lord was witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously and to whom you were faithless. Yet she is your companion and the wife of your covenant.

15 ¿ No hizo él un solo ser, en el cual hay abundancia de espíritu? ¿Y por qué uno? Porque buscaba una descendencia para Dios. Guardaos, pues, en vuestro espíritu y no seáis desleales para con la mujer de vuestra juventud.

And did not God make one ? Did not One make you and preserve your spirit alive? And why one? Because He sought a godly offspring. Therefore take heed to yourselves, and let no one deal treacherously and be faithless to the wife of his youth.

16 P orque dice Jehová, Dios de Israel, que él aborrece el repudio y al que mancha de maldad su vestido, dijo Jehová de los ejércitos. Guardaos, pues, en vuestro espíritu y no seáis desleales.

For the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I hate divorce and marital separation and him who covers his garment with violence. Therefore keep a watch upon your spirit, that you deal not treacherously and faithlessly.

17 H abéis hecho cansar a Jehová con vuestras palabras. Y preguntáis: «¿En qué lo hemos cansado?» En que decís: «Cualquiera que hace mal, agrada a Jehová; en los tales se complace»; o si no: «¿Dónde está el Dios de justicia?»

You have wearied the Lord with your words. Yet you say, In what way have we wearied Him? you say, Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the Lord and He delights in them. Or, Where is the God of justice?
