1 H e aquí que Jehová devasta la tierra y la arrasa, trastorna su faz y hace esparcir a sus moradores.

Behold, the Lord will make the land and the earth empty and make it waste and turn it upside down (twist the face of it) and scatter abroad its inhabitants.

2 Y sucederá, como al pueblo, así también al sacerdote; como al esclavo, así a su amo; como a la criada, a su ama; como al que compra, al que vende; como al que presta, al que toma prestado; como al acreedor, así también al deudor.

And it shall be—as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the creditor, so with the debtor.

3 L a tierra será totalmente devastada y completamente saqueada, porque Jehová ha pronunciado esta palabra.

The land and the earth shall be utterly laid waste and utterly pillaged; for the Lord has said this.

4 S e destruyó, cayó la tierra; enfermó, cayó el mundo; enfermaron los altos pueblos de la tierra.

The land and the earth mourn and wither, the world languishes and withers, the high ones of the people languish.

5 Y la tierra fue profanada por sus moradores, porque traspasaron las leyes, falsearon el derecho, quebrantaron el pacto eterno.

The land and the earth also are defiled by their inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws, disregarded the statutes, and broken the everlasting covenant.

6 P or esta causa la maldición consumió la tierra y sus moradores fueron asolados; por esta causa fueron consumidos los habitantes de la tierra y disminuyó la población.

Therefore a curse devours the land and the earth, and they who dwell in it suffer the punishment of their guilt. Therefore the inhabitants of the land and the earth are scorched and parched, and few people are left.

7 S e perdió el vino, enfermó la vid, gimieron todos los que eran alegres de corazón.

The new wine mourns, the vine languishes; all the merrymakers sigh.

8 C esó el regocijo de los panderos, se acabó el estruendo de los que se alegran, cesó la alegría del arpa.

The mirth of the timbrels is stilled, the noise of those who rejoice ends, the joy of the lyre is stopped.

9 N o beberán vino con canción; la sidra les será amarga a los que la beben.

No more will they drink wine with a song; strong drink will be bitter to those who drink it.

10 Q uebrantada está la ciudad a causa del desastre. Toda casa se ha cerrado, para que no entre nadie.

The wasted city of emptiness and confusion is broken down; every house is shut up so that no one may enter.

11 H ay clamores en las calles por falta de vino; todo gozo se ha apagado, la alegría se desterró de la tierra.

There is crying in the streets for wine; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is banished and gone into captivity.

12 L a ciudad quedó desolada y con ruina fue destrozada la puerta.

In the city is left desolation, and its gate is battered and destroyed.

13 P orque así será en medio de la tierra, en medio de los pueblos, como un olivo sacudido, como rebuscos después de la vendimia.

For so shall it be in the midst of the earth among the peoples, as the shaking and beating of an olive tree, or as the gleaning when the vintage is done.

14 E stos alzarán su voz, cantarán gozosos por la grandeza de Jehová; desde el mar darán voces.

these lift up their voices, they shout; for the majesty of the Lord they cry aloud from the Sea.

15 G lorificad por esto a Jehová en los valles; en las costas del mar sea nombrado Jehová, Dios de Israel.

Wherefore glorify the Lord in the east; the name of the Lord, the God of Israel in the isles and coasts of the Sea.

16 D e los extremos de la tierra oímos cánticos: «¡Gloria al justo!» Y yo dije: «¡Mi desdicha, mi desdicha, ay de mí!» Traidores han traicionado, y han traicionado con traición de desleales.

From the uttermost parts of the earth have we heard songs: Glory to the Righteous One! But I say, Emaciated I pine away, I pine away. Woe is me! The treacherous dealers deal treacherously! Yes, the treacherous dealers deal very treacherously.

17 ¡ Terror, foso y red sobre ti, morador de la tierra!

Terror and pit and snare are upon you, O inhabitant of the earth!

18 Y acontecerá que el que huya de la voz del terror caerá en el foso; y el que salga de en medio del foso será atrapado en la red; porque de lo alto se abrirán ventanas y temblarán los cimientos de la tierra.

And he who flees at the noise of the terror will fall into the pit; and he who comes up out of the pit will be caught in the snare. For the windows of the heavens are opened, and the foundations of the earth tremble and shake.

19 S erá destruida del todo la tierra, enteramente desmenuzada será la tierra, en gran manera será la tierra conmovida.

The earth is utterly broken, the earth is rent asunder, the earth is shaken violently.

20 T emblará la tierra como un ebrio y será removida como una choza, y tanto pesará sobre ella su pecado, que nunca más se levantará.

The earth shall stagger like a drunken man and shall sway to and fro like a hammock; its transgression shall lie heavily upon it, and it shall fall and not rise again.

21 A contecerá en aquel día, que Jehová castigará al ejército de los cielos en lo alto y a los reyes de la tierra sobre la tierra.

And in that day the Lord will visit and punish the host of the high ones on high and the kings of the earth on the earth.

22 S erán amontonados como se amontona a los encarcelados en una mazmorra, y en prisión quedarán encerrados. Y al cabo de muchos días serán castigados.

And they will be gathered together as prisoners are gathered in a pit or dungeon; they will be shut up in prison, and after many days they will be visited, inspected, and punished or pardoned.

23 L a luna se avergonzará y el sol se confundirá, cuando Jehová de los ejércitos reine en el monte Sión, en Jerusalén, y brille su gloria delante de sus ancianos.

Then the moon will be confounded and the sun ashamed, when the Lord of hosts, Who will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and before His elders will show forth His glory.
