1 É stos son los que vinieron ante David en Siclag, estando él aún encerrado por causa de Saúl hijo de Cis; eran de los valientes que le ayudaron en la guerra.

These are the ones who came to David at Ziklag, while he yet concealed himself because of Saul son of Kish; they were among the mighty men, his helpers in war.

2 E staban armados de arcos y usaban ambas manos para tirar piedras con la honda y flechas con el arco. De los hermanos de Saúl de Benjamín,

They were bowmen and could use the right hand or the left to sling stones or shoot arrows from the bow; they were of Saul’s kinsmen of Benjamin.

3 e l jefe era Ahiezer, después Joás, hijos de Semaa, el gabaatita; Jeziel y Pelet hijos de Azmavet, Beraca y Jehú, el anatotita,

The chief was Ahiezer and then Joash the sons of Shemaah of Gibeah; Jeziel and Pelet the sons of Azmaveth; Beracah, and Jehu of Anathoth,

4 I smaías, el gabaonita, valiente entre los treinta, y jefe entre ellos; Jeremías, Jahaziel, Johanán, Jozabad, el gederatita,

Ishmaiah of Gibeon, a mighty man among the Thirty and a over them; Jeremiah, Jahaziel, Johanan, Jozabad of Gederah,

5 E luzai, Jerimot, Bealías, Semarías, Sefatías, el harufita,

Eluzai, Jerimoth, Bealiah, Shemariah, Shephatiah the Haruphite;

6 E lcana, Isías, Azareel, Joezer y Jasobeam, coreítas,

Elkanah, Isshiah, Azarel, Joezer, and Jashobeam, the Korahites;

7 y Joela y Zebadías hijos de Jeroham, de Gedor.

Joelah and Zebadiah the sons of Jeroham of Gedor.

8 T ambién de los de Gad huyeron y fueron adonde estaba David, al lugar fuerte en el desierto, hombres de guerra muy valientes para pelear, diestros con el escudo y la lanza; sus rostros eran como rostros de leones, y eran ligeros como las gacelas sobre las montañas.

Of the Gadites there went over to David to the stronghold in the wilderness men of might, men trained for war who could handle shield and spear, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and who were swift as gazelles on the mountains:

Ezer the chief, Obadiah the second, Eliab the third,

10 M ismana, el cuarto, Jeremías, el quinto,

Mishmannah the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth,

11 A tai, el sexto, Eliel, el séptimo,

Attai the sixth, Eliel the seventh,

12 J ohanán, el octavo, Elzabad, el noveno,

Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth,

13 J eremías, el décimo y Macbanai, el undécimo.

Jeremiah the tenth, Machbannai the eleventh.

14 É stos fueron capitanes del ejército de los hijos de Gad. El menor estaba a cargo de cien hombres, y el mayor, de mil.

These Gadites were officers of the army. The lesser was equal to and over a hundred, and the greater equal to and over a thousand.

15 E stos pasaron el Jordán en el mes primero, cuando se había desbordado por todas sus riberas; e hicieron huir a todos los habitantes de los valles al oriente y al occidente.

These are the men who went over the Jordan in the first month when it had overflowed all its banks, and put to flight all those in the valleys, east and west.

16 A simismo algunos de los hijos de Benjamín y de Judá fueron ante David al lugar fuerte.

There came some of the men of Benjamin and Judah to the stronghold to David.

17 D avid salió a su encuentro y les habló diciendo: —Si habéis venido a mí en son de paz y para ayudarme, me uniré a vosotros; pero si es para entregarme a mis enemigos, sin que mis manos estén manchadas de maldad, véalo el Dios de nuestros padres, y os lo demande.

David went out to meet them and said to them, If you have come peaceably to me to help me, my heart shall be knit to you; but if you have come to betray me to my adversaries, although there is no violence or wrong in my hands, may the God of our fathers look upon and rebuke you.

18 E ntonces el espíritu vino sobre Amasai, jefe de los treinta, y dijo: «¡Somos tuyos, David! ¡Estamos contigo, hijo de Isaí! ¡Paz, paz para ti, y paz para quienes te ayudan, pues también tu Dios te ayuda!» David los recibió y los puso entre los capitanes de la tropa.

Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the captains, and he said, Yours we are, David, and on your side, you son of Jesse! Peace, peace be to you, and peace be to your helpers, for your God helps you. Then David received them and made them officers of his troops.

19 T ambién se pasaron a David algunos de Manasés, cuando fue con los filisteos a la batalla contra Saúl (pero David no los ayudó, porque los jefes de los filisteos, tras deliberar, lo despidieron diciendo: «Con peligro de nuestras cabezas se pasará a su señor Saúl.»)

Some of the men of Manasseh deserted to David when he came with the Philistines for the battle against Saul. But men did not actually fight with them, for the lords of the Philistines, upon advisement, sent him away, saying, He will desert to his master Saul at the risk of our heads.

20 A sí que cuando volvió él a Siclag, se pasaron a él de los de Manasés: Adnas, Jozabad, Jediael, Micael, Jozabad, Eliú y Ziletai, príncipes de millares de los de Manasés.

As David went to Ziklag, there deserted to him of Manasseh: Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, and Zillethai, chiefs of thousands in Manasseh.

21 E stos ayudaron a David contra la banda de merodeadores, pues todos ellos eran hombres valientes, y fueron capitanes en el ejército.

They helped David against the band of raiders, for they were all mighty men of courage, and became commanders in army.

22 C ada día le llegaba ayuda a David, hasta que se formó un gran ejército, como un ejército de Dios.

For at that time day by day men kept coming to David to help him, until there was a great army, like the army of God.

23 É ste es el número de los principales que estaban listos para la guerra, y llegaron a David en Hebrón para traspasarle el reino de Saúl, conforme a la palabra de Jehová:

These are the numbers of the armed divisions who came to David at Hebron to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the Lord:

24 D e los hijos de Judá que traían escudo y lanza, seis mil ochocientos estaban listos para la guerra.

Those of Judah, who bore shield and spear, were 6, 800 armed for war;

25 D e los hijos de Simeón, siete mil cien hombres, valientes y esforzados para la guerra.

Those of Simeon, mighty and brave warriors, 7, 100;

26 D e los hijos de Leví, cuatro mil seiscientos;

Those of Levi, 4, 600—

27 a simismo Joiada, príncipe de los del linaje de Aarón, y con él tres mil setecientos hombres,

Jehoiada was the leader of the Aaronite, and with him were 3, 700,

28 y Sadoc, joven valiente y esforzado, con veintidós de los principales de la casa de su padre.

And Zadok, a young man mighty in valor, and twenty-two captains from his own father’s house;

29 D e los hijos de Benjamín, hermanos de Saúl, tres mil; porque hasta entonces muchos de ellos se mantenían fieles a la casa de Saúl.

Of the Benjamites, the kindred of Saul, 3, 000—hitherto the majority of them had kept their allegiance and the charge of the house of Saul;

30 D e los hijos de Efraín, veinte mil ochocientos, muy valientes, hombres ilustres en las casas de sus padres.

Of the Ephraimites, 20, 800, mighty in valor, famous in their fathers’ houses;

31 D e la media tribu de Manasés, dieciocho mil, los cuales fueron designados para ir a proclamar a David como rey.

Of the half-tribe of Manasseh, 18, 000, who were mentioned by name to come and make David king;

32 D e los hijos de Isacar, doscientos principales, entendidos en los tiempos, y que sabían lo que Israel debía hacer, y cuyas órdenes seguían todos sus hermanos.

And of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times to know what Israel ought to do, 200 chiefs; and all their kinsmen were under their command;

33 D e Zabulón, cincuenta mil, que salían a la campaña prontos para la guerra, con toda clase de armas de guerra y dispuestos a pelear sin doblez de corazón.

Of Zebulun, 50, 000 experienced troops, fitted out with all kinds of weapons and instruments of war that could order and set the battle in array, men not of double purpose but stable and trustworthy.

34 D e Neftalí, mil capitanes, y con ellos treinta y siete mil con escudo y lanza.

Of Naphtali, 1, 000 captains, and with them 37, 000 with shield and spear;

35 D e los de Dan, dispuestos a pelear, veintiocho mil seiscientos.

Of Dan, 28, 600, men who could set the battle in array;

36 D e Aser, dispuestos para la guerra y preparados para pelear, cuarenta mil.

Of Asher, men able to go forth to battle, fit for active service, 40, 000;

37 Y del otro lado del Jordán, de los rubenitas y gaditas y de la media tribu de Manasés, ciento veinte mil con toda clase de armas de guerra.

On the other side of the Jordan River, of Reuben and Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh, 120, 000 men, armed with all the weapons and instruments of war.

38 T odos estos hombres de guerra, dispuestos para guerrear, fueron con corazón perfecto a Hebrón, para poner a David como rey sobre todo Israel; asimismo todos los demás de Israel estaban de acuerdo en poner a David como rey.

All these, being men of war arrayed in battle order, came with a perfect and sincere heart to Hebron to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest also of Israel were of one mind to make David king.

39 Y estuvieron allí con David tres días comiendo y bebiendo, porque sus hermanos habían provisto para ellos.

And they were there with David for three days, eating and drinking, for their brethren had prepared for them.

40 T ambién los que les eran vecinos, hasta Isacar y Zabulón y Neftalí, trajeron víveres en asnos, camellos, mulos y bueyes; provisión de harina, tortas de higos, pasas, vino y aceite, y bueyes y ovejas en abundancia, porque en Israel había alegría.

Also those who were near them from as far as Issachar, Zebulun, and Naphtali brought food on donkeys, camels, mules, and oxen, abundant supplies of meal, cakes of figs, bunches of raisins, wine, oil, oxen, and sheep, for there was joy in Israel.
