1 ¡ Ay de ti, que saqueas y nunca fuiste saqueado; que haces traición, aunque nadie contra ti la ha hecho! Cuando acabes de saquear, serás tú saqueado; y cuando acabes de cometer deslealtad, se cometerá contra ti.

Woe to you, O destroyer, you who were not yourself destroyed, who deal treacherously though they did not deal treacherously with you! When you have ceased to destroy, you will be destroyed; and when you have stopped dealing treacherously, they will deal treacherously with you.

2 J ehová, ten misericordia de nosotros, que en ti hemos esperado. Tú, brazo de ellos en la mañana, sé también nuestra salvación en el tiempo de la tribulación.

O Lord, be gracious to us; we have waited for You. Be the arm every morning, our salvation in the time of trouble.

3 L os pueblos huyeron a la voz del estruendo; las naciones fueron esparcidas al levantarte tú.

At the noise of the tumult, the peoples flee; at the lifting up of Yourself, nations are scattered.

4 S us despojos serán recogidos como cuando se recogen orugas; se lanzarán sobre ellos como de una a otra parte se lanzan las langostas.

And the spoil is gathered as the caterpillar gathers; as locusts leap and run to and fro, so leap upon it.

5 S erá exaltado Jehová, el cual mora en las alturas. Él llena a Sión de derecho y de justicia.

The Lord is exalted, for He dwells on high; He will fill Zion with justice and righteousness (moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation).

6 É l es la seguridad de sus días. Sabiduría y conocimiento son sus riquezas salvadoras, y el temor de Jehová es su tesoro.

And there shall be stability in your times, an abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; the reverent fear and worship of the Lord is your treasure and His.

7 H e aquí que sus embajadores darán voces afuera; los mensajeros de paz llorarán amargamente.

Behold, their valiant ones cry without; the ambassadors of peace weep bitterly.

8 L as calzadas están deshechas, cesaron los caminantes; ha anulado el pacto, aborreció las ciudades, tuvo en nada a los hombres.

The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceases. The enemy has broken the covenant, he has despised the cities and the witnesses, he regards no man.

9 S e enlutó, enfermó la tierra; el Líbano se avergonzó y fue cortado; Sarón se ha vuelto como un desierto, y Basán y el Carmelo fueron sacudidos.

The land mourns and languishes, Lebanon is confounded and withers away; Sharon is like a desert, and Bashan and Carmel shake off their leaves.

10 A hora me levantaré, dice Jehová; ahora seré exaltado, ahora seré engrandecido.

Now will I arise, says the Lord. Now will I lift up Myself; now will I be exalted.

11 C oncebisteis hojarascas, rastrojo daréis a luz; el soplo de vuestro fuego os consumirá.

You conceive chaff, you bring forth stubble; your breath is a fire that consumes you.

12 Y los pueblos serán como cal quemada; como espinos cortados serán quemados con fuego.

And the people will be burned as if to lime, like thorns cut down that are burned in the fire.

13 O íd, los que estáis lejos, lo que he hecho; y vosotros, los que estáis cerca, conoced mi poder.

Hear, you who are far off, what I have done; and you who are near, acknowledge My might!

14 L os pecadores se asombraron en Sión y el espanto sobrecogió a los hipócritas: «¿Quién de nosotros morará con el fuego consumidor? ¿Quién de nosotros habitará con las llamas eternas?»

The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling seizes the godless ones. Who among us can dwell with that devouring fire? Who among us can dwell with those everlasting burnings?

15 E l que camina en justicia y habla lo recto, el que aborrece la ganancia de violencias, el que sacude sus manos para no recibir soborno, el que tapa sus oídos para no oír propuestas sanguinarias, el que cierra sus ojos para no ver cosa mala,

He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, who despises gain from fraud and from oppression, who shakes his hand free from the taking of bribes, who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed and shuts his eyes to avoid looking upon evil.

16 é ste habitará en las alturas, fortaleza de rocas será su lugar de refugio, se le dará su pan y sus aguas tendrá seguras.

will dwell on the heights; his place of defense will be the fortresses of rocks; his bread will be given him; water for him will be sure.

17 T us ojos verán al Rey en su hermosura, verán la tierra que está lejos.

Your eyes will see the King in His beauty; will behold a land of wide distances that stretches afar.

18 T u corazón imaginará el espanto y dirá: «¿Qué fue del escriba?, ¿qué del pesador del tributo?, ¿qué del que inspeccionaba las torres?»

Your mind will meditate on the terror: Where is he who counted? Where is he who weighed the tribute? Where is he who counted the towers?

19 N o verás más a aquel pueblo insolente, pueblo de lengua difícil de entender, de lengua oscura, incomprensible.

You will see no more the fierce and insolent people, a people of a speech too deep and obscure to be comprehended, of a strange and stammering tongue that you cannot understand.

20 M ira a Sión, ciudad de nuestras fiestas solemnes. Tus ojos verán a Jerusalén, morada de quietud, tienda que no será desarmada, ni serán arrancadas sus estacas ni ninguna de sus cuerdas será rota.

Look upon Zion, the city of our set feasts and solemnities! Your eyes shall see Jerusalem, a quiet habitation, a tent that shall not be taken down; not one of its stakes shall ever be pulled up, neither shall any of its cords be broken.

21 P orque ciertamente allí será Jehová poderoso para con nosotros. Y será un lugar de ríos y canales muy anchos, por el cual no navegará galera de remos ni pasará nave poderosa.

But there the Lord will be for us in majesty and splendor a place of broad rivers and streams, where no oar-propelled boat can go, and no mighty and stately ship can pass.

22 P orque Jehová es nuestro juez, Jehová es nuestro legislador, Jehová es nuestro Rey. ¡Él mismo nos salvará!

For the Lord is our Judge, the Lord is our Lawgiver, the Lord is our King; He will save us.

23 T us cuerdas se aflojaron; no afirmaron su mástil ni entesaron la vela. Se repartirá entonces botín de muchos despojos. ¡Hasta los cojos arrebatarán el botín!

Your hoisting ropes hang loose; they cannot strengthen and hold firm the foot of their mast or keep the sail spread out. Then will prey and spoil in abundance be divided; even the lame will take the prey.

24 N o dirá el morador: «Estoy enfermo.» Al pueblo que more en ella, le será perdonada la iniquidad.

And no inhabitant will say, I am sick; the people who dwell there will be forgiven their iniquity and guilt.
