1 É stos son los descendientes de Esaú, o sea Edom:

Now this is the history of the descendants of Esau, that is, Edom.

2 E saú tomó sus mujeres de las hijas de Canaán: a Ada, hija de Elón, el heteo; a Aholibama, hija de Aná hijo de Zibeón, el heveo;

Esau took his wives from the women of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah daughter of Anah, the son of Zibeon the Hivite,

3 y a Basemat, hija de Ismael, hermana de Nebaiot.

And Basemath, Ishmael’s daughter, sister of Nebaioth.

4 A Esaú, Ada le dio a luz a Elifaz; Basemat le dio a luz a Reuel;

Adah bore to Esau, Eliphaz; Basemath bore Reuel;

5 y Aholibama le dio a luz a Jeús, a Jaalam y a Coré. Éstos son los hijos que le nacieron a Esaú en la tierra de Canaán.

And Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. These are the sons of Esau born to him in Canaan.

6 E saú tomó sus mujeres, sus hijos, sus hijas y todas las personas de su casa; sus ganados, todas sus bestias y todo cuanto había adquirido en la tierra de Canaán, y se fue a otra tierra, separándose de su hermano Jacob,

Now Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the members of his household, his cattle, all his beasts, and all his possessions which he had obtained in the land of Canaan, and he went into a land away from his brother Jacob.

7 p orque los bienes de ambos eran tantos que no podían habitar juntos, ni la tierra en donde habitaban los podía sostener a causa de sus ganados.

For their great flocks and herds and possessions made it impossible for them to dwell together; the land in which they were strangers could not support them because of their livestock.

8 P or eso Esaú, o sea Edom, habitó en los montes de Seir.

So Esau dwelt in the hill country of Seir; Esau is Edom.

9 É stos son los descendientes de Esaú, padre de Edom, en los montes de Seir,

And this is the history of the descendants of Esau the father of the Edomites in the hill country of Seir.

10 y éstos son los nombres de sus hijos: Elifaz, hijo de Ada, mujer de Esaú; Reuel, hijo de Basemat, mujer de Esaú.

These are the names of Esau’s sons: Eliphaz, the son of Adah, Esau’s wife, and Reuel, the son of Basemath, Esau’s wife.

11 L os hijos de Elifaz fueron Temán, Omar, Zefo, Gatam y Cenaz.

And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz.

12 T imna fue concubina de Elifaz hijo de Esaú, y ella le dio a luz a Amalec; éstos son los hijos de Ada, mujer de Esaú.

And Timna was a concubine of Eliphaz, Esau’s son; and she bore Amalek to Eliphaz. These are the sons of Adah, Esau’s wife.

13 L os hijos de Reuel fueron Nahat, Zera, Sama y Miza; éstos son los hijos de Basemat, mujer de Esaú.

These are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. These are the sons of Basemath, Esau’s wife.

14 Y estos fueron los hijos que dio a luz Aholibama, mujer de Esaú, hija de Aná hijo de Zibeón: Jeús, Jaalam y Coré, hijos de Esaú.

And these are the sons of Oholibamah daughter of Anah, the son of Zibeon, Esau’s wife. She bore to Esau: Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.

15 É stos son los jefes de entre los hijos de Esaú: Hijos de Elifaz, primogénito de Esaú: los jefes Temán, Omar, Zefo, Cenaz,

These are the chiefs of the sons of Esau: The sons of Eliphaz the firstborn of Esau: Chiefs Teman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz,

16 C oré, Gatam y Amalec. Éstos son los jefes de Elifaz, en la tierra de Edom. Éstos fueron los hijos de Ada.

Korah, Gatam, and Amalek. These are the chiefs of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; they are the sons of Adah.

17 É stos son los hijos de Reuel hijo de Esaú: los jefes Nahat, Zera, Sama y Miza. Éstos son los jefes de la línea de Reuel en la tierra de Edom; son los que proceden de Basemat, mujer de Esaú.

These are the sons of Reuel, Esau’s son: Chiefs Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, Mizzah. These are the chiefs of Reuel in the land of Edom; they are the sons of Basemath, Esau’s wife.

18 É stos son los hijos de Aholibama, mujer de Esaú: los jefes Jeús, Jaalam y Coré; y estos fueron los jefes que salieron de Aholibama, mujer de Esaú, hija de Aná.

These are the sons of Oholibamah, Esau’s wife: Chiefs Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. These are the chiefs born of Oholibamah daughter of Anah, Esau’s wife.

19 T odos ellos fueron los hijos de Esaú, o sea Edom; y fueron sus jefes.

These are the sons of Esau, that is, Edom, and these are their chiefs.

20 É stos son los hijos de Seir, el horeo, habitantes de aquella tierra: Lotán, Sobal, Zibeón, Aná,

These are the sons of Seir the Horite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,

21 D isón, Ezer y Disán. Éstos son los jefes de los horeos, hijos de Seir, en la tierra de Edom.

Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan. These are the chiefs of the Horites, the sons of Seir in the land of Edom.

22 L os hijos de Lotán fueron Hori y Hemam. Timna fue hermana de Lotán.

The sons of Lotan are Hori and Hemam; and Lotan’s sister is Timna.

23 L os hijos de Sobal fueron Alván, Manahat, Ebal, Sefo y Onam;

The sons of Shobal are these: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.

24 y los de Zibeón fueron Aja y Aná. Este Aná es el que descubrió manantiales en el desierto, cuando apacentaba los asnos de Zibeón, su padre.

These are the sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah. This is the Anah who found the hot springs in the wilderness as he pastured the donkeys of Zibeon his father.

25 L os hijos de Aná fueron Disón y Aholibama, hija de Aná.

The children of Anah are these: Dishon and Oholibamah daughter of Anah.

26 É stos fueron los hijos de Disón: Hemdán, Esbán, Itrán y Querán;

These are the sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran.

27 y estos los hijos de Ezer: Bilhán, Zaaván y Acán.

Ezer’s sons are these: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.

28 É stos fueron los hijos de Disán: Uz y Arán;

The sons of Dishan are these: Uz and Aran.

29 y estos los jefes de los horeos: los jefes Lotán, Sobal, Zibeón, Aná,

The Horite chiefs are these: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,

30 D isón, Ezer y Disán; estos fueron los jefes de los horeos, por sus mandos en la tierra de Seir.

Dishon, Ezer, Dishan. These are the Horite chiefs, according to their clans, in the land of Seir.

31 É stos fueron los reyes que reinaron en la tierra de Edom antes que tuvieran rey los hijos de Israel:

And these are the kings who reigned in Edom before any king reigned over the Israelites:

32 B ela hijo de Beor, reinó en Edom, y el nombre de su ciudad fue Dinaba.

Bela son of Beor reigned in Edom. And the name of his city was Dinhabah.

33 M urió Bela y reinó en su lugar Jobab hijo de Zera, de Bosra.

Now Bela died, and Jobab son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead.

34 M urió Jobab y en su lugar reinó Husam, de tierra de Temán.

Then Jobab died, and Husham of the land of the Temanites reigned in his stead.

35 M urió Husam y reinó en su lugar Hadad hijo de Bedad, el que derrotó a Madián en el campo de Moab; y el nombre de su ciudad fue Avit.

And Husham died, and Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab, reigned in his stead. The name of his city was Avith.

36 M urió Hadad y en su lugar reinó Samla, de Masreca.

Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah succeeded him.

37 M urió Samla y reinó en su lugar Saúl, de Rehobot, que está junto al Éufrates.

Then Samlah died, and Shaul of Rehoboth on the river reigned in his stead.

38 M urió Saúl y en lugar suyo reinó Baal-hanán hijo de Acbor.

And Shaul died, and Baal-hanan son of Achbor reigned in his stead.

39 M urió Baal-hanán hijo de Acbor y reinó Hadar en lugar suyo; el nombre de su ciudad fue Pau, y el nombre de su mujer, Mehetabel, hija de Matred, hija de Mezaab.

Baal-hanan son of Achbor died, and then Hadar reigned. His city was Pau; his wife’s name was Mehetabel daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab.

40 E stos, pues, son los nombres de los jefes de Esaú por sus familias, por sus lugares y sus nombres: Timna, Alva, Jetet,

And these are the names of the chiefs of Esau, according to their families and places of residence, by their names: Chiefs Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,

41 A holibama, Ela, Pinón,

Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,

42 C enaz, Temán, Mibzar,

Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,

43 M agdiel e Iram. Éstos fueron los jefes de Edom, según los lugares que ocupan en la tierra de su posesión. Edom es el mismo Esaú, padre de los edomitas.

Magdiel, and Iram. These are the chiefs of Edom, according to their dwelling places in their land.
