1 Т огава всичките израилтяни излязоха, и цялото общество, от Дан до Вирсавее, заедно с Галаадската земя, се събра като един човек пред Господа в Масфа.

Then all the Israelites came out, and the congregation assembled as one man to the Lord at Mizpah, from Dan even to Beersheba, including the land of Gilead.

2 И людете от всичките краища, всички Израилеви племена, четиристотин хиляди мъже пешаци, които теглеха меч, се представиха в събранието на Божиите люде.

And the chiefs of all the people, of all the tribes of Israel, presented themselves in the assembly of the people of God, 400, 000 men on foot who drew the sword.

3 И вениаминците чуха, че израилтяните отишли в Масфа. И израилтяните казаха: Разправете ни как стана това зло.

(Now the Benjamites heard that the Israelites had gone up to Mizpah.) There the Israelites asked, How did this wickedness happen?

4 И левитинът, мъжът на убитата жена, в отговор рече: Дойдох в Гавая Вениаминова, аз и наложницата ми, за да пренощуваме.

And the Levite, the husband of the woman who was murdered, replied, I came to Gibeah which belongs to Benjamin, I and my concubine, to spend the night.

5 А гавайските мъже се подигнаха против мене, и през нощта обиколиха къщата в който бях; мене искаха да убият, а наложницата ми изнасилваха, та умря.

And the men of Gibeah rose against me and beset the house round about me by night; they meant to kill me and they raped my concubine, and she is dead.

6 З атова взех наложницата си та я разсякох и я изпратих по всичките предели на Израилевото наследство; защото те извършиха разврат и безумие в Израиля.

And I took my concubine and cut her in pieces and sent her throughout all the country of the inheritance of Israel, for they have committed abomination and folly in Israel.

7 Г ледайте, вие израилтяните, всинца вие, съветвайте се тук помежду си, и дайте мнението си.

Behold, you Israelites, all of you, give here your advice and counsel.

8 Т огава всичките люде станаха като един човек и казаха: Никоя от нас няма да отиде в шатъра си, нито ще се върне някой от нас в къщата си,

And all the people arose as one man, saying, Not any of us will go to his tent, and none of us will return to his home.

9 н о ето сега какво ще направим на Гавая, ще отидем против нея по жребие;

But now this we will do to Gibeah: we will go up by lot against it,

10 и ще вземем по десет мъже на сто от всичките Израилеви племена, и по сто на хиляда, които да донесат храна на людете, та, като стигнат в Гавая Вениаминова, да им сторят според всичкото безумие, което те извършиха в Израиля.

And we will take ten men of 100 throughout all the tribes of Israel, and 100 of 1, 000, and 1, 000 out of 10, 000, to bring provisions for the men, that when they come to Gibeah of Benjamin they may do to them according to all the folly which they have committed in Israel.

11 И тъй, събраха се против града всичките Израилеви мъже, обединени като един човек.

So all the men of Israel gathered against the city, united as one man.

12 Т огава Израилевите племена пратиха мъже по цялото Вениаминово племе да казват: Какво е това нечестие, което се е извършило помежду ви?

And the tribes of Israel sent men through all the tribe of Benjamin, saying, What wickedness is this that has been done among you?

13 С ега, прочее, предайте човеците, ония развратници, които са в Гавая, за да ги избием, и да отмахнем това зло от Израиля. Но Вениамин отказа да послуша гласа на братята си израилтяните;

Now therefore, give up the men, the base fellows in Gibeah, that we may put them to death and put away evil from Israel. But the Benjamites would not listen to the voice of their kinsmen the Israelites.

14 и вениаминците се събраха от градовете си на Гавая, за да излязат на бой против израилтяните.

But the Benjamites out of the cities assembled at Gibeah to go out to battle against the other Israelites.

15 И в оня ден вениаминците, излезли от градовете, като се преброиха, бяха двадесет и шест хиляди мъже, които теглеха меч, освен жителите на Гавая, които се преброиха седемстотин отборни мъже.

And the Benjamites mustered out of their cities at that time 26, 000 men who drew the sword, besides the inhabitants of Gibeah, who mustered 700 chosen men.

16 М ежду всички тия люде имаше седемстотин отборни мъже леваци, които всички можеха с прашка да хвърлят камъни на косъм и всеки път да улучат.

Among all these were 700 chosen left-handed men; every one could sling stones at a hair and not miss.

17 А без Вениамина, Израилевите мъже, които се преброиха, бяха четиристотин хиляди мъже, които теглеха меч; всички тия бяха военни мъже.

And the men of Israel, other than Benjamin, mustered 400, 000 men who drew the sword; all these were men of war.

18 Т огава израилтяните станаха, възлязоха във Ветил, та се допитаха до Бог, казвайки: Кой от вас да възлезе пръв против вениаминците? А Господ каза: Юда да излезе пръв.

The Israelites arose and went up to the house of God and asked counsel of God and said, Which of us shall take the lead to battle against the Benjamites? And the Lord said, Judah shall go up first.

19 И тъй, на утринта израилтяните станаха та разположиха стан против Гавая.

Then the Israelites rose in the morning and encamped against Gibeah.

20 И Израилевите мъже излязоха на бой против Вениамина; и опълчиха се Израилевите мъже на бой против тях в Гавая.

And the men of Israel went out to battle against Benjamin and set the battle in array against them at Gibeah.

21 А вениаминците излязоха из Гавая, та в оня ден повалиха на земята двадесет и две хиляди мъже от Израиля.

The Benjamites came forth out of Gibeah and felled to the ground that day 22, 000 men of the Israelites.

22 Н о людете, Израилевите мъже, се ободриха и опълчиха се пак на бой, на мястото, гдето бяха се опълчили първия ден.

But the people, the men of Israel, took courage and strengthened themselves and again set their battle line in the same place where they formed it the first day.

23 З ащото израилтяните бяха възлезли и плакали пред Господа до вечерта, и бяха се допитали до Господа, казвайки: Да възлезем ли пак на бой против потомците на брата ни Вениамина? И Господ беше казал: Възлезте против него.

And the Israelites went up and wept before the Lord until evening and asked of the Lord, Shall we go up again to battle against our brethren the Benjamites? And the Lord said, Go up against them.

24 И така, на втория ден израилтяните се приближиха при вениаминците.

So the Israelites came near against the Benjamites the second day.

25 А на втория ден Вениамин излезе из Гавая против тях та повали на земята още осемнадесет хиляди мъже от израилтяните; всички тия теглеха меч.

And Benjamin went forth out of Gibeah against them the second day and felled to the ground the Israelites again, 18, 000 men, all of whom were swordsmen.

26 Т огава всичките израилтяни и всичките люде влязоха та дойдоха във Ветил и плакаха, и седнаха там пред Господа, и постиха в оня ден до вечерта; и принесоха всеизгаряния и примирителни жертви пред Господа.

Then all the Israelites, the whole army, went up and came to the house of God and wept; and they sat there before the Lord and fasted that day until evening and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord.

27 П осле израилтяните се допитаха до Господа, (защото през ония дни ковчегът на Божия завет беше там,

And the Israelites inquired of the Lord—for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,

28 и Финеес, син на Елеазара, Аароновият син, служеше пред него през ония дни), и запитаха: Да възлезем ли пак на бой против потомците на брата ни Вениамина? или да престанем? И Господ каза: Възлезте, защото утре ще ги предам в ръката ви.

And Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, ministered before it in those days—saying, Shall we yet again go out to battle against our brethren the Benjamites or shall we quit? And the Lord said, Go up, for tomorrow I will deliver them into your hand.

29 Т огава Израил постави засада около Гавая.

So Israel set men in ambush round about Gibeah.

30 И на третия ден израилтяните излязоха против вениаминците, та се опълчиха против Гавая както в предишните дни.

And the Israelites went up against the Benjamites on the third day and set themselves in array against Gibeah as at other times.

31 А вениаминците излязоха против людете, отвлякоха се от града, и почнаха както в предишните дни да поразяват людете по пътищата, (от които единият отива към Ветил, а другият към Гавая), и убиха в полето около тридесет мъже от Израиля.

And the Benjamites went out against their army and were drawn away from the city; and they began to smite and kill some of the people as at other times, in the highways, one of which goes up to Bethel and the other to Gibeah, and in the open country—about thirty men of Israel.

32 З атова вениаминците си казаха: Те падат пред нас както по-напред. А израилтяните рекоха: Да побегнем и да ги отвлечем от града към пътищата.

And the Benjamites said, They are routed before us as at first. But the Israelites said, Let us flee and draw them from the city to the highways.

33 Т огава всичките Израилеви мъже станаха от мястото си, та се опълчиха във Ваал-тамар, и засадата на Израиля изкочи от мястото си, от Гавайската ливада.

And all the men of Israel rose out of their places and set themselves in array at Baal-tamar, and the men of Israel in ambush rushed out of their place in the meadow of Geba.

34 И дойдоха против Гавая десет хиляди отборни мъже от целия Израил, и битката ставаше ожесточена; но вениаминците не знаеха, че бедата ги застигаше.

And there came against Gibeah 10, 000 chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was hard; but the Benjamites did not know disaster was close upon them.

35 З ащото Господ порази Вениамина пред Израиля; и в оня ден израилтяните погубиха от вениаминците двадесет и пет хиляди и сто мъже; те всички теглеха меч.

And the Lord overcame Benjamin before Israel, and the Israelites destroyed of the Benjamites that day 25, 100 men, all of whom were swordsmen.

36 И вениаминците видяха, че бяха поразени. Защото израилевите мъже отстъпиха пред вениаминците, като разчитаха на засадата, която бяха поставили против Гавая.

So the Benjamites saw that they were defeated. The men of Israel gave ground to the Benjamites, because they trusted in the men in ambush whom they had set against Gibeah.

37 Т огава засадата побърза та се спусна върху Гавая; и засадата дебнеше напред, и поразиха целия град с острото на ножа.

And the men in ambush quickly rushed upon Gibeah, and the liers-in-wait moved out and smote all the city with the sword.

38 А Израилевите мъже бяха определили знак с ония, които бяха в засадата, да направят да се издигне от града голям стълб дим.

Now the appointed signal between the men of Israel and the men in ambush was that when they made a great cloud of smoke arise from the city,

39 И когато израилтяните отстъпиха в битката, Вениамин почна да поразява, и уби от израилтяните около тридесет мъже, защото си рекоха: Наистина те падат пред нас както при първата битка.

The men of Israel should all turn back in battle. Now Benjamin had begun to smite and kill some of the men of Israel, about thirty persons. They said, Surely they are falling before us as in the first battle.

40 Н о когато облакът почна да се издига от града в димен стълб, вениаминците погледнаха на назад, и, ето, целият град се издигаше в дим към небето.

But when the cloud began to rise out of the city in a pillar of smoke, the Benjamites looked behind them, and behold, the whole of the city went up in smoke to the heavens.

41 Т огава се повърнаха Израилевите мъже; и Вениаминовите мъже се смутиха, защото видяха, че бедата ги постигна.

When the men of Israel turned back again, the men of Benjamin were dismayed, for they saw that disaster had come upon them.

42 З атова обърнаха се пред Израилевите мъже към пътя за пустинята; но битката ги притисна; и те погубваха всред градовете ония които излизаха из тях.

Therefore they turned their backs before the men of Israel and fled toward the wilderness, but the battle followed close behind and overtook them; and the inhabitants of the cities destroyed those who came through them in their midst.

43 З аобиколиха вениаминците, гониха ги, и тъпкаха ги лесно до срещу Гавая към изгрева на слънцето.

They surrounded the Benjamites, pursued them, and overtook and trod them down at their resting-place as far as opposite Gibeah toward the east.

44 И паднаха от Вениамина осемнадесет хиляди мъже, - всички храбри мъже.

And there fell 18, 000 men of Benjamin, all of them men of valor.

45 П рочее, те се обърнаха та побягнаха към пустинята в канарата Римон; а израилтяните набраха от тях пабирък по пътищата, пет хиляди мъже, после ги гониха до Гидом и там убиха от тях две хиляди мъже.

And turned and fled toward the wilderness to the rock of Rimmon, and Israel picked off on the highways 5, 000 men of them; they pursued hard after them to Gidom and slew 2, 000 more of them.

46 Т ака всичките, които паднаха в оня ден от Вениамина, бяха двадесет и пет хиляди мъже, които теглят меч, - всички храбри мъже.

So that all of Benjamin who fell that day were 25, 000 men who drew the sword, all of them men of valor.

47 А шестстотин мъже се обърнаха та побягнаха към пустинята в канарата Римон; и седяха в канарата Римон четири месеца.

But 600 men turned and fled to the wilderness to the rock Rimmon and remained at the rock Rimmon four months.

48 А Израилевите мъже се обърнаха върху вениаминците, та го поразиха с острото на ножа, както градски човек, така и добитък, и всичко що се намираше; и предадоха на огън всичките градове, които намираха.

And the men of Israel turned back against the Benjamites and smote them with the sword, men and beasts and all that they found. Also they set on fire all the towns to which they came.
