1 L ivra-me, ó Senhor, dos homens maus; guarda-me dos homens violentos,

Deliver me, O Lord, from evil men; preserve me from violent men;

2 o s quais maquinam maldades no coração; estão sempre projetando guerras.

They devise mischiefs in their heart; continually they gather together and stir up wars.

3 A guçaram as línguas como a serpente; peçonha de áspides está debaixo dos seus lábios.

They sharpen their tongues like a serpent’s; adders’ poison is under their lips. Selah!

4 G uarda-me, ó Senhor, das mãos dos ímpios; preserva-me dos homens violentos, os quais planejaram transtornar os meus passos.

Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent men who have purposed to thrust aside my steps.

5 O s soberbos armaram-me laços e cordas; estenderam uma rede ã beira do caminho; puseram-me armadilhas.

The proud have hidden a snare for me; they have spread cords as a net by the wayside, they have set traps for me. Selah!

6 E u disse, ao Senhor: Tu és o meu Deus; dá ouvidos, ó Senhor, ã voz das minhas súplicas.

I said to the Lord, You are my God; give ear to the voice of my supplications, O Lord.

7 Ó Senhor, meu Senhor, meu forte libertador, tu cobriste a minha cabeça no dia da batalha.

O God the Lord, the Strength of my salvation, You have covered my head in the day of battle.

8 N ão concedas, ó Senhor, aos ímpios os seus desejos; não deixes ir por diante o seu mau propósito.

Grant not, O Lord, the desires of the wicked; further not their wicked plot and device, lest they exalt themselves. Selah!

9 N ão levantem a cabeça os que me cercam; cubra-os a maldade dos seus lábios.

Those who are fencing me in raise their heads; may the mischief of their own lips and the very things they desire for me come upon them.

10 C aiam sobre eles brasas vivas; sejam lançados em covas profundas, para que não se tornem a levantar!

Let burning coals fall upon them; let them be cast into the fire, into floods of water or deep water pits, from which they shall not rise.

11 N ão se estabeleça na terra o caluniador; o mal persiga o homem violento com golpe sobre golpe.

Let not a man of slanderous tongue be established in the earth; let evil hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

12 S ei que o Senhor manterá a causa do aflito, e o direito do necessitado.

I know and rest in confidence upon it that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and will secure justice for the poor and needy.

13 D ecerto os justos louvarão o teu nome; os retos habitarão na tua presença.

Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; the upright shall dwell in Your presence (before Your very face).
