1 N aqueles dias Ezequias adoeceu e esteve ã morte. E veio ter com ele o profeta Isaías, filho de Amoz, e lhe disse: Assim diz o Senhor: Põe em ordem a tua casa, porque morrerás, e não viverás.

In those days King Hezekiah of Judah became ill and was at the point of death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, came to him and said, Thus says the Lord: Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.

2 E ntão virou Ezequias o seu rosto para a parede, e orou ao Senhor,

Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord

3 e disse: Lembra-te agora, ó Senhor, peço-te, de que modo tenho andado diante de ti em verdade, e com coração perfeito, e tenho feito o que era reto aos teus olhos. E chorou Ezequias amargamente.

And said, Remember now, O Lord, I beseech You, how I have walked before You in faithfulness and in truth, with a whole heart, and have done what is good in Your sight. And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

4 E ntão veio a palavra do Senhor a Isaías, dizendo:

Then came the word of the Lord to Isaiah, saying,

5 V ai e dize a Ezequias: Assim diz o Senhor, o Deus de Davi teu pai: Ouvi a tua oração, e vi as tuas lágrimas; eis que acrescentarei aos teus dias quinze anos.

Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will add to your life fifteen years.

6 L ivrar-te-ei das mãos do rei da Assíria, a ti, e a esta cidade; eu defenderei esta cidade.

And I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city.

7 E isto te será da parte do Senhor como sinal de que o Senhor cumprirá esta palavra que falou:

And this will be the sign to you from the Lord that the Lord will do this thing that He has spoken:

8 E is que farei voltar atrás dez graus a sombra no relógio de Acaz, pelos quais já declinou com o sol. Assim recuou o sol dez graus pelos quais já tinha declinado.

Behold, I will turn the shadow on the steps or degrees, which has gone down on the steps or sundial of Ahaz, backward ten steps or degrees. And the sunlight turned back ten steps on the steps on which it had gone down.

9 O escrito de Ezequias, rei de Judá, depois de ter estado doente, e de ter convalescido de sua enfermidade.

This is the writing of Hezekiah king of Judah after he had been sick and had recovered from his sickness:

10 E u disse: Na tranqüilidade de meus dias hei de entrar nas portas do Seol; estou privado do resto de meus anos.

I said, In the noontide and tranquillity of my days I must depart; I am to pass through the gates of Sheol (the place of the dead), deprived of the remainder of my years.

11 E u disse: Já não verei mais ao Senhor na terra dos viventes; jamais verei o homem com os moradores do mundo.

I said, I shall not see the Lord, even the Lord, in the land of the living; I shall behold man no more among the inhabitants of the world.

12 A minha habitação já foi arrancada e arrebatada de mim, qual tenda de pastor; enrolei como tecelão a minha vida; ele me corta do tear; do dia para a noite tu darás cabo de mim.

My dwelling is plucked up and is removed from me like a shepherd’s tent. I have rolled up my life as a weaver; cuts me free from the loom; from day to night You bring me to an end.

13 C lamei por socorro até a madrugada; como um leão, assim ele quebrou todos os meus ossos; do dia para a noite tu darás cabo de mim.

I thought and quieted myself until morning. Like a lion He breaks all my bones; from day to night You bring me to an end.

14 C omo a andorinha, ou o grou, assim eu chilreava; e gemia como a pomba; os meus olhos se cansavam de olhar para cima; ó Senhor, ando oprimido! fica por meu fiador.

Like a twittering swallow or a crane, so do I chirp and chatter; I moan like a dove. My eyes are weary and dim with looking upward. O Lord, I am oppressed; take my side and be my security.

15 Q ue direi? como mo prometeu, assim ele mesmo o cumpriu; assim passarei mansamente por todos os meus anos, por causa da amargura da minha alma.

But what can I say? For He has both spoken to me and He Himself has done it. I must go softly all my years and my sleep has fled because of the bitterness of my soul.

16 ç Senhor por estas coisas vivem os homens, e inteiramente nelas está a vida do meu espírito; portanto restabelece-me, e faze-me viver.

O Lord, by these things men live; and in all these is the life of my spirit. O give me back my health and make me live!

17 E is que foi para minha paz que eu estive em grande amargura; tu, porém, amando a minha alma, a livraste da cova da corrupção; porque lançaste para trás das tuas costas todos os meus pecados.

Behold, it was for my peace that I had intense bitterness; but You have loved back my life from the pit of corruption and nothingness, for You have cast all my sins behind Your back.

18 P ois não pode louvar-te o Seol, nem a morte cantar-te os louvores; os que descem para a cova não podem esperar na tua verdade.

For Sheol (the place of the dead) cannot confess and reach out the hand to You, death cannot praise and rejoice in You; they who go down to the pit cannot hope for Your faithfulness.

19 O vivente, o vivente é que te louva, como eu hoje faço; o pai aos filhos faz notória a tua verdade.

The living, the living—they shall thank and praise You, as I do this day; the father shall make known to the children Your faithfulness and Your truth.

20 O Senhor está prestes a salvar-me; pelo que, tangendo eu meus instrumentos, nós o louvaremos todos os dias de nossa vida na casa do Senhor.

The Lord is ready to save (deliver) me; therefore we will sing my songs with stringed instruments all the days of our lives in the house of the Lord.

21 O ra Isaías dissera: Tomem uma pasta de figos, e a ponham como cataplasma sobre a úlcera; e Ezequias sarará.

Now Isaiah had said, Let them take a cake of figs and lay it for a plaster upon the boil, that he may recover.

22 T ambém dissera Ezequias: Qual será o sinal de que hei de subir ã casa do Senhor?

Hezekiah also had said, What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the Lord?
