1 F ilho meu, se aceitares as minhas palavras, e entesourares contigo os meus mandamentos,

My son, if you will receive my words and treasure up my commandments within you,

2 p ara fazeres atento ã sabedoria o teu ouvido, e para inclinares o teu coração ao entendimento;

Making your ear attentive to skillful and godly Wisdom and inclining and directing your heart and mind to understanding;

3 s im, se clamares por discernimento, e por entendimento alçares a tua voz;

Yes, if you cry out for insight and raise your voice for understanding,

4 s e o buscares como a prata e o procurares como a tesouros escondidos;

If you seek as for silver and search for skillful and godly Wisdom as for hidden treasures,

5 e ntão entenderás o temor do Senhor, e acharás o conhecimento de Deus.

Then you will understand the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.

6 P orque o Senhor dá a sabedoria; da sua boca procedem o conhecimento e o entendimento;

For the Lord gives skillful and godly Wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

7 e le reserva a verdadeira sabedoria para os retos; e escudo para os que caminham em integridade,

He hides away sound and godly Wisdom and stores it for the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with Him); He is a shield to those who walk uprightly and in integrity,

8 g uardando-lhes as veredas da justiça, e preservando o caminho dos seus santos.

That He may guard the paths of justice; yes, He preserves the way of His saints.

9 E ntão entenderás a retidão, a justiça, a eqüidade, e todas as boas veredas.

Then you will understand righteousness, justice, and fair dealing; yes, you will understand every good path.

10 P ois a sabedoria entrará no teu coração, e o conhecimento será aprazível ã tua alma;

For skillful and godly Wisdom shall enter into your heart, and knowledge shall be pleasant to you.

11 o bom siso te protegerá, e o discernimento e guardará;

Discretion shall watch over you, understanding shall keep you,

12 p ara te livrar do mau caminho, e do homem que diz coisas perversas;

To deliver you from the way of evil and the evil men, from men who speak perverse things and are liars,

13 d os que deixam as veredas da retidão, para andarem pelos caminhos das trevas;

Men who forsake the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness,

14 q ue se alegram de fazer o mal, e se deleitam nas perversidades dos maus;

Who rejoice to do evil and delight in the perverseness of evil,

15 d os que são tortuosos nas suas veredas; e iníquos nas suas carreiras;

Who are crooked in their ways, wayward and devious in their paths.

16 e para te livrar da mulher estranha, da estrangeira que lisonjeia com suas palavras;

to deliver you from the alien woman, from the outsider with her flattering words,

17 a qual abandona o companheiro da sua mocidade e se esquece do concerto do seu Deus;

Who forsakes the husband and guide of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God.

18 p ois a sua casa se inclina para a morte, e as suas veredas para as sombras.

For her house sinks down to death and her paths to the spirits.

19 N enhum dos que se dirigirem a ela, tornara a sair, nem retomará as veredas da vida.

None who go to her return again, neither do they attain or regain the paths of life.

20 A ssim andarás pelo caminho dos bons, e guardarás as veredas dos justos.

So may you walk in the way of good men, and keep to the paths of the righteous (the upright, in right standing with God).

21 P orque os retos habitarão a terra, e os íntegros permanecerão nela.

For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the men of integrity, blameless and complete, shall remain in it;

22 M as os ímpios serão exterminados da terra, e dela os aleivosos serão desarraigados.

But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the treacherous shall be rooted out of it.
