1 ¶ Y habló el SEÑOR a Moisés en los campos de Moab, junto al Jordán de Jericó, diciendo:

¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan of Jericho, saying,

2 M anda a los hijos de Israel, que den a los levitas de la posesión de su heredad ciudades en que habiten. También daréis a los levitas los ejidos de esas ciudades alrededor de ellas.

Command the sons of Israel that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in, and ye shall give also unto the Levites the suburbs of those cities round about them.

3 Y tendrán ellos las ciudades para habitar, y los ejidos de ellas serán para sus animales, y para su sustancia, y para todas sus bestias.

And they shall have the cities to dwell in; and the suburbs of them shall be for their animals and for their substance and for all their beasts.

4 Y los ejidos de las ciudades que daréis a los levitas, serán mil codos alrededor, desde el muro de la ciudad para afuera.

And the suburbs of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites, shall reach from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round about.

5 L uego mediréis fuera de la ciudad a la parte del oriente dos mil codos, y a la parte del mediodía dos mil codos, y a la parte del occidente dos mil codos, y a la parte del norte dos mil codos, y la ciudad en medio: esto tendrán por los ejidos de las ciudades.

Then ye shall measure from outside the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the side of the Negev two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits; and the city shall be in the midst: this shall be to them the suburbs of the cities.

6 Y de las ciudades que daréis a los levitas, seis ciudades serán de refugio, las cuales daréis para que el homicida se acoja allá; y además de éstas daréis cuarenta y dos ciudades.

And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites, there shall be six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint so that the manslayer may flee there; and in addition to them ye shall give them forty-two cities.

7 T odas las ciudades que daréis a los levitas serán cuarenta y ocho ciudades; ellas con sus ejidos.

So all the cities which ye shall give to the Levites shall be forty-eight cities, the cities with their suburbs.

8 Y las ciudades que diereis de la heredad de los hijos de Israel, del que mucho tomaréis mucho, y del que poco tomaréis poco; cada uno dará de sus ciudades a los levitas según la posesión que heredará.

And the cities which ye shall give shall be of the possession of the sons of Israel; from those that have much ye shall give many; but from those that have few ye shall give few, each one shall give of his cities unto the Levites according to his possession which he inherited.

9 ¶ Y habló el SEÑOR a Moisés, diciendo:

¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,

10 H abla a los hijos de Israel, y diles: Cuando hubiereis pasado el Jordán a la tierra de Canaán,

Speak unto the sons of Israel and say unto them, When ye have passed the Jordan into the land of Canaan,

11 o s señalaréis ciudades, ciudades de refugio tendréis, donde huya el homicida que hiriere a alguno por yerro.

then ye shall appoint yourselves cities to be cities of refuge for you that the manslayer who kills any person unawares may flee there.

12 Y os serán aquellas ciudades para refugiarse del pariente vengador, y no morirá el homicida hasta que esté a juicio delante de la congregación.

And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger that the manslayer not die until he stands before the congregation in judgment.

13 D e las ciudades, pues, que daréis, tendréis seis ciudades de refugio.

And of these cities which ye shall give, six cities shall ye have for refuge.

14 T res ciudades daréis de este lado del Jordán, y tres ciudades daréis en la tierra de Canaán; las cuales serán ciudades de refugio.

Ye shall give three cities on this side of the Jordan and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, which shall be cities of refuge.

15 E stas seis ciudades serán de refugio para los hijos de Israel, y al peregrino, y al que morare entre ellos, para que huya allá cualquiera que hiriere de muerte a otra persona por yerro.

These six cities shall be a refuge, both for the sons of Israel and for the stranger and for the sojourner among them that anyone that kills another person unawares may flee there.

16 Y si con instrumento de hierro lo hiriere y muriere, homicida es; el homicida morirá.

And if he smites him with an instrument of iron so that he dies, he is a murderer; the murderer shall surely be put to death.

17 Y si con piedra de mano, de que pueda morir, le hiriere, y muriere, homicida es; el homicida morirá.

And if he smites him by throwing a stone with which he may die, and he dies, he is a murderer; the murderer shall surely be put to death.

18 Y si con instrumento de palo de mano, de que pueda morir, le hiriere, y muriere, homicida es; el homicida morirá.

Or if he smites him with a hand weapon of wood with which he may die, and he dies, he is a murderer; the murderer shall surely be put to death.

19 E l pariente vengador de la sangre del muerto, él matará al homicida; cuando lo encontrare, él le matará.

The kinsman avenger of blood shall slay the murderer; when he meets him, he shall slay him.

20 Y si con odio lo empujó, o echó sobre él alguna cosa por asechanzas, y muere;

But if he thrusts him out of hatred or hurls at him by laying in wait, so that he dies

21 o por enemistad lo hirió con su mano, y murió; el heridor morirá; es homicida; el pariente vengador matará al homicida, cuando lo encontrare.

or out of enmity smites him with his hand so that he dies, he that smote him shall surely be put to death; for he is a murderer; the kinsman avenger of blood shall slay the murderer when he meets him.

22 M as si casualmente le empujó sin enemistades, o echó sobre él cualquier instrumento sin asechanzas,

But if he thrusts him suddenly without enmity, or has cast upon him any thing without laying in wait,

23 o bien, sin verle, hizo caer sobre él alguna piedra, de que pudo morir, y muriere, y él no era su enemigo, ni procuraba su mal;

or with any stone, with which a man may die, seeing him not and casts it upon him that he dies, and was not his enemy, neither sought his harm,

24 e ntonces la congregación juzgará entre el heridor y el pariente vengador de la sangre conforme a estas leyes.

then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the kinsman avenger of blood according to these laws.

25 Y la congregación librará al homicida de mano del pariente vengador de la sangre, y la congregación le hará volver a la ciudad de refugio, a la cual se había acogido; y morará en ella hasta que muera el sumo sacerdote, el cual fue ungido con el aceite santo.

And the congregation shall deliver the manslayer out of the hand of the kinsman avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, where he has fled, and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.

26 Y si el homicida saliere fuera del término de su ciudad de refugio, a la cual se acogió,

But if the manslayer shall at any time come outside the border of the city of his refuge where he has fled,

27 y el pariente vengador de la sangre le hallare fuera del término de la ciudad de su acogida, y el pariente vengador de la sangre matare al homicida, no se le culpará a él por su sangre.

and the kinsman avenger of blood finds him outside the borders of the city of his refuge, and the kinsman avenger of blood slays the manslayer, he shall not be guilty of his blood.

28 P ues en su ciudad de refugio habitará hasta que muera el sumo sacerdote; y después que muriere el sumo sacerdote, el homicida volverá a la tierra de su posesión.

He should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest, but after the death of the high priest the manslayer shall return into the land of his possession.

29 Y estas cosas os serán por ordenanza de derecho por vuestras edades, en todas vuestras habitaciones.

So these things shall be for a statute of rights unto you throughout your ages in all your dwellings.

30 C ualquiera que hiriere a alguno, por dicho de testigos, morirá el homicida; mas un solo testigo no hablará contra alguna persona para que muera.

Whoever kills any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses, but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die.

31 Y no tomaréis rescate por la vida del homicida; porque está condenado a muerte; mas indefectiblemente morirá.

Moreover ye shall take no ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty of death, but he shall be surely put to death.

32 N i tampoco tomaréis rescate del que huyó a su ciudad de refugio, para que vuelva a vivir en su tierra, hasta que muera el sacerdote.

And ye shall take no ransom for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.

33 Y no contaminaréis la tierra donde estuviereis; porque esta sangre contaminará la tierra; y la tierra no será reconciliada de la sangre que fue derramada en ella, sino por la sangre del que la derramó.

So ye shall not pollute the land where ye are, for this blood shall defile the land; and the land cannot be reconciled of the blood that is shed therein except by the blood of the one that shed it.

34 N o contaminéis, pues, la tierra donde habitáis, en medio de la cual yo habito; porque yo el SEÑOR habito en medio de los hijos de Israel.

Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit in the midst of which I dwell; for I the LORD dwell among the sons of Israel.
