1 ¶ Digo pues: ¿Ha desechado Dios a su pueblo? En ninguna manera. Porque también yo soy Israelita, de la simiente de Abraham, de la tribu de Benjamín.

¶ I say then, Has God cast away his people? No, in no wise. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

2 N o ha desechado Dios a su pueblo, al cual antes conoció. ¿O no sabéis qué dice de Elías la Escritura? Cómo hablando con Dios contra Israel dice:

God has not cast away his people whom he knew beforehand. Know ye not what the scripture says of Elijah? how speaking to God against Israel, he said,

3 S eñor, a tus profetas han dado muerte, y tus altares han derribado; y yo he quedado solo, y procuran matarme.

Lord, they have killed thy prophets and ruined thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.

4 M as ¿qué le dice la respuesta de Dios? He dejado para mí siete mil varones, que no han doblado las rodillas delante de Baal.

But what did the answer of God say unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee before Baal.

5 A sí también, aun en este tiempo ha quedado remanente por la elección graciosa de Dios.

Even so then at this present time also, there is a remnant by the gracious election of God.

6 Y si por gracia, luego no por las obras; de otra manera la gracia ya no es gracia. Y si por las obras, ya no es gracia; de otra manera la obra ya no es obra.

And if by grace, then is it not by works; otherwise, the grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, then it is no longer grace; otherwise, the work is no longer work.

7 ¿ Qué pues? Lo que buscaba Israel, aquello no lo ha alcanzado, mas los electos lo han alcanzado; y los demás fueron cegados;

What then? Israel has not obtained that which he seeks after; but the elect have obtained it, and the rest were blinded

8 ( como está escrito: Les dio Dios espíritu de remordimiento, ojos con que no vean, y oídos con que no oigan,) hasta el día de hoy.

(according as it is written, God has given them the spirit of anguish, eyes with which they do not see and ears with which they do not hear) unto this day.

9 Y David dice: Séales vuelta su mesa en trampa, y en red, y en tropezadero, y en paga;

And David says, Let their table be turned into a snare and a net and a stumblingblock and a recompense unto them;

10 s us ojos sean obscurecidos para que no vean, y agóbiales siempre el espinazo.

Let their eyes be darkened that they may not see, and bow down their back always.

11 D igo pues: ¿Tropezaron luego de tal manera que cayeron del todo? En ninguna manera; mas por la caída de ellos vino la salud a los gentiles, para que por ellos fueran provocados a celos.

I say then, Have they stumbled in such a manner that they should fall completely? No, in no wise; but rather through their fall, saving health is come unto the Gentiles to provoke them unto jealousy.

12 Y si la caída de ellos es la riqueza del mundo, y el menoscabo de ellos, la riqueza de los gentiles, ¿cuánto más lo será la plenitud de ellos?

And if the fall of them is the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles, how much more shall their fullness be?

13 P orque (a vosotros digo, gentiles). En cuanto a la verdad, yo soy apóstol de los gentiles, mi ministerio honro,

For (I call you Gentiles) inasmuch as I am truly the apostle of the Gentiles, my honorable ministry,

14 s i en alguna manera provocara a celos a mi nación, e hiciera salvos a algunos de ellos.

if in any manner I may provoke my nation to jealousy and cause some of them to be saved.

15 P orque si el desechamiento de ellos es la reconciliación del mundo, ¿qué será el recibimiento de ellos, sino vida de entre los muertos?

For if the casting away of them is the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?

16 Y si la primicia es santa, también lo será el todo, y si la raíz es santa, también lo serán las ramas.

For if the firstfruit is holy, so shall the rest be; and if the root is holy, so shall be the branches.

17 Y si algunas de las ramas fueron quebradas, y tú, siendo oliva silvestre, has sido injertado entre ellas, y has sido hecho participante de la raíz y de la grosura de la oliva;

And if some of the branches were broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them and hath been made participant of the root and of the fatness of the olive tree,

18 n o te jactes contra las ramas; y si te jactas, sabe que no sustentas tú a la raíz, sino la raíz a ti.

do not boast against the branches. But if thou boast, know that thou dost not bear the root, but the root thee.

19 D irás pues: Las ramas fueron quebradas para que yo fuera injertado.

Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.

20 B ien; por su incredulidad fueron quebradas, mas tú por la fe estás en pie. No te ensoberbezcas, antes teme.

Good; because of their unbelief they were broken off, but thou by faith art standing. Do not be highminded, but fear

21 Q ue si Dios no perdonó a las ramas naturales, a ti tampoco te perdonará.

that if God did not forgive the natural branches, neither shall he forgive thee.

22 M ira antes la bondad y la severidad de Dios; la severidad ciertamente en los que cayeron; mas la bondad (de Dios) en ti, si permanecieres en la bondad; pues de otra manera tú también serás cortado.

Behold, therefore, the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity, but toward thee, goodness if thou continue in his goodness; otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

23 Y aun ellos, si no permanecen en incredulidad, serán injertados; que poderoso es Dios para volverlos a injertar.

And even them, if they do not continue in unbelief, shall be grafted in, for God is powerful enough to graft them in again.

24 P orque si tú eres cortado de la oliva que es silvestre por naturaleza, y contra natura fuiste injertado en la buena oliva, ¿cuánto más éstos, que son las ramas naturales, serán injertados en su oliva?

For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature and wert grafted contrary to nature into the good olive tree, how much more shall these, which are the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?

25 P orque no quiero, hermanos, que ignoréis este misterio, para que no seáis arrogantes acerca de vosotros mismos; que la ceguedad en parte aconteció en Israel, para que entre tanto entrara la plenitud de los gentiles;

For I would not, brethren, that ye ignore this mystery, that ye not be arrogant regarding yourselves: that blindness in part has happened in Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles are come in.

26 y así todo Israel fuera salvo; como está escrito: Vendrá de Sión el Libertador, que quitará de Jacob la impiedad;

And even if all Israel were saved, as it is written: There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall take away the ungodliness from Jacob;

27 y éste será mi testamento a ellos, cuando quitare sus pecados.

and this shall be my covenant unto them when I shall take away their sins.

28 A sí que, en cuanto al Evangelio, los tengo por enemigos por causa de vosotros; pero en cuanto a la elección de Dios, son muy amados por causa de los padres.

So that, as concerning the gospel, I have them for enemies for your sakes; but as touching the election of God, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes.

29 P orque sin arrepentimiento son los dones y el llamado de Dios.

For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

30 P orque como también vosotros en algún tiempo no obedecisteis a Dios, pero ahora habéis alcanzado misericordia con ocasión de la desobediencia de ellos;

For as ye in time past have not obeyed God, yet have now obtained mercy through the occasion of their disobedience,

31 a sí también éstos ahora no han creído, para que, por la misericordia para con vosotros, ellos también alcancen misericordia.

likewise these also have not believed now that through the mercy shown unto you they also may obtain mercy.

32 P orque Dios encerró a todos en desobediencia, para tener misericordia de todos.

For God enclosed everyone in disobedience, that he might have mercy upon everyone.

33 ¶ ¡Oh profundidad de las riquezas de la sabiduría y de la ciencia de Dios! ¡Cuán incomprensibles son sus juicios, e inescrutables sus caminos!

¶ O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and of the knowledge of God! How incomprehensible are his judgments and his ways past finding out!

34 P orque ¿quién entendió el intento del Señor? ¿O quién fue su consejero?

For who has understood the intent of the Lord? or who has been his counsellor?

35 ¿ O quién le dio a él primero, para que le sea pagado?

Or who has first given unto him, that it be recompensed unto him again?

36 P orque de él, y por él, y en él, son todas las cosas. A él sea la gloria por los siglos. Amén.

For of him and by him and in him are all things. To him be the glory for the ages. Amen.
