1 ¶ Y Booz subió a la puerta y se sentó allí: y he aquí pasaba aquel redentor del cual Booz había hablado, y le dijo: Eh, fulano, ven acá y siéntate. Y él vino, y se sentó.

¶ And Boaz went up to the gate and sat down there, and, behold, the redeemer of whom Boaz spoke came by unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! Come here and sit down. And he came and sat down.

2 E ntonces él tomó diez varones de los ancianos de la ciudad, y dijo: Sentaos aquí. Y ellos se sentaron.

Then he took ten men of the elders of the city and said, Sit down here. And they sat down.

3 Y dijo al redentor: Una parcela de tierra que tuvo nuestro hermano Elimelec, vendió Noemí, la que volvió del campo de Moab;

And he said unto the redeemer, Naomi, that is come again out of the field of Moab, sold a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech’s,

4 y yo decidí hacértelo saber, y decirte que las tomes delante de los que están aquí sentados, y delante de los ancianos de mi pueblo. Si hubieres de redimir, redime; y si no quisieres redimir, decláramelo para que yo lo sepa; porque no hay otro que redima sino tú, y yo después de ti. Y el otro respondió: Yo redimiré.

and I decided to cause thee to know this and tell thee to take it before the inhabitants and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it, but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me that I may know, for there is no one to redeem it besides thee, and I after thee. And he said, I will redeem it.

5 E ntonces replicó Booz: El mismo día que tomares las tierras de mano de Noemí, tomarás también a Rut la moabita, mujer del difunto, para que levantes el nombre del muerto sobre su heredad.

Then Boaz replied, The day that thou dost receive the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must also receive Ruth, the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.

6 Y respondió el redentor: No puedo redimir para mí; porque por ventura echaría a perder mi heredad; redime tú, yo te traspaso mi derecho, porque yo no podré redimir.

And the redeemer said, I cannot redeem it for myself lest I ruin my own inheritance; redeem thou; I cede my right to you, for I shall not be able to redeem it.

7 D esde hacía tiempo existía esta costumbre en Israel en la redención o contrato, que para la confirmación de cualquier negocio, el uno se quitaba el zapato y lo daba a su compañero; y éste era el testimonio en Israel.

Now for a long time in Israel there had been this custom concerning redemption or contracts, that for the confirmation of all matters: one plucked off his shoe and gave it to his neighbour, and this was a testimony in Israel.

8 E ntonces el que había traspasado el derecho de redención dijo a Booz: Tómalo tú. Y diciendo esto descalzó su zapato.

Therefore, the former owner of the right of redemption said unto Boaz, Buy it thyself. So he drew off his shoe.

9 ¶ Y Booz dijo a los ancianos y a todo el pueblo: Vosotros seréis hoy testigos de como tomo todas las cosas que fueron de Elimelec, y todo lo que fue de Quelión y de Mahlón, de mano de Noemí.

¶ And Boaz said unto the elders and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day that I have bought all that was Elimelech’s and all that was Chilion’s and Mahlon’s, of the hand of Naomi.

10 Y que también tomo por mi mujer a Rut la moabita, mujer de Mahlón, para que yo levante el nombre del difunto sobre su heredad, para que el nombre del muerto no se pierda de entre sus hermanos y de la puerta de su lugar. Vosotros seréis hoy testigos.

Moreover, I also take Ruth, the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, as my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance that the name of the dead not be cut off from among his brethren and from the gate of his place. Ye shall be witnesses of this today.

11 Y dijeron todos los del pueblo que estaban a la puerta con los ancianos: Testigos somos. El SEÑOR haga a la mujer que entra en tu casa como a Raquel y a Lea, las cuales edificaron la casa de Israel; y tú seas ilustre en Efrata, y tengas nombradía en Belén;

And all the people that were in the gate and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thy house like Rachel and like Leah, who built the house of Israel; and be thou a man of valour in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem;

12 t u casa sea como la casa de Fares, al que Tamar dio a luz a Judá, de la simiente que el SEÑOR te diere de esta joven.

let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bore unto Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman.

13 ¶ Y así Booz tomó a Rut, y ella fue su mujer; y luego que entró a ella, el SEÑOR le dio que concibiera y diera a luz un hijo.

¶ So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife, and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bore a son.

14 Y las mujeres decían a Noemí: Loado sea el SEÑOR, que hizo que no te faltara redentor hoy, cuyo nombre será nombrado en Israel.

And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, who has not left thee this day without a redeemer, whose name shall be famous in Israel.

15 E l cual será restaurador de tu alma, y el que te sustentará en tu vejez; pues que tu nuera, la cual te ama, le ha dado a luz; y ella es de más valor para ti que siete hijos.

And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy soul and a sustainer in thy old age, for thy daughter-in-law, whom thou doth love, who is better to thee than seven sons, has given birth.

16 Y tomando Noemí el hijo, lo puso en su regazo, y fue su aya.

And Naomi took the child and laid it in her bosom and was his nurse.

17 Y las vecinas le pusieron nombre diciendo: a Noemí ha nacido un hijo; y le llamaron Obed. Este es padre de Jessé, padre de David.

And the women, her neighbours, named him, saying, There is a son born to Naomi, and they called his name Obed. This is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

18 Y éstas son las generaciones de Fares: Fares engendró a Hezrón;

Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron,

19 y Hezrón engendró a Ram, y Ram engendró a Aminadab;

and Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab,

20 y Aminadab engendró a Naasón, y Naasón engendró a Salmón;

and Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,

21 Y Salmón engendró a Booz, y Booz engendró a Obed;

and Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,

22 y Obed engendró a Jessé, y Jessé engendró a David.

and Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.
