1 П ока Ездра молился и открыто признавался в грехах, плача и повергаясь перед Божьим домом, вокруг него собралась большая толпа израильтян: мужчин, женщин и детей. Они тоже горько плакали.

¶ Now as Ezra prayed and confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children; and the people wept very sore.

2 Ш екания, сын Иехиила, один из потомков Елама, обратился к Ездре, сказав: – Мы нарушили верность нашему Богу, женившись на чужеземках из народов, что вокруг нас. Но даже теперь у Израиля еще есть надежда.

Then Shechaniah, the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have rebelled against our God and have taken strange women of the peoples of the land, but there is yet hope for Israel concerning this thing.

3 И так, давайте заключим с нашим Богом завет, чтобы удалить от себя всех этих женщин и их детей, по совету моего господина и тех, кто благоговеет перед повелениями нашего Бога. Пусть все будет по Закону.

Now, therefore, let us make a covenant with our God to send away all the women and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of the Lord and of those that fear the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.

4 П однимись, это дело в твоих руках. Мы поддержим тебя, соберись с духом и действуй.

Arise; for this matter belongs unto thee; we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.

5 Е здра поднялся и заставил главных священников, левитов и весь Израиль поклясться сделать так, как было предложено. И они поклялись.

Then Ezra arose and made the princes of the priests, the Levites, and all Israel, swear that they should do according to this word. And they swore.

6 Е здра удалился от Божьего дома и пошел в комнату Иоханана, сына Элиашива. Пока он был там, он не ел хлеба и не пил воды, потому что скорбел о неверности переселенцев.

¶ Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God and went into the chamber of Johanan, the son of Eliashib; and when he came there, he ate no bread, nor drank water; for he mourned because of the transgression of those that had been carried away.

7 И в Иудее, и Иерусалиме объявили, что все переселенцы должны собраться в Иерусалиме,

And they made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the sons of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem

8 а если кто-нибудь не придет в течение трех дней, у того – по решению вождей и старейшин – будет отобрано все его имущество, а сам он будет изгнан из общины переселенцев.

and that whoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and of the elders, all his substance should be forfeited and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away.

9 В течение трех дней все мужчины Иуды и Вениамина собрались в Иерусалиме. На двадцатый день девятого месяца весь народ сидел на площади перед Божьим домом, дрожа из-за этого дела и из-за ливня.

Thus were all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth of the month; and all the people sat in the plaza of the house of God, trembling because of this matter and because of the rains.

10 С вященник Ездра встал и сказал им: – Вы совершили предательство: вы женились на чужеземках, увеличив вину Израиля.

And Ezra, the priest, stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed because ye have taken strange women, thus increasing the guiltiness of Israel.

11 И так, открыто признайтесь Господу, Богу ваших отцов, в своих грехах и исполните Его волю. Отделитесь от народов, что вокруг вас, и от ваших иноплеменных жен.

Now, therefore, make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers and do his will; and separate yourselves from the peoples of the lands and from the strange women.

12 В се собрание ответило громким криком: – Ты прав! Мы должны сделать, как ты сказал.

Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, Let it be done according to thy word.

13 Н о здесь много людей, и сейчас время дождей, так что мы не можем стоять на улице. Да и дело это не на день и не на два, потому что мы в этом сильно согрешили.

But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and there is no strength to stand in the street; neither is this a work of one day or two; for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.

14 П усть наши вожди представляют все собрание. И пусть все в наших городах, кто женился на иноземках, приходят в установленное время вместе со старейшинами и судьями каждого города, пока от нас не отвратится пылающий гнев нашего Бога за это дело.

Let our rulers of all the congregation now stand, and let all those who have taken strange women in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of each city and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter is turned from us.

15 Т олько Ионафан, сын Асаила, и Иахзея, сын Тиквы, а с ними Мешуллам и левит Шавтай, воспротивились этому.

¶ Jonathan, the son of Asahel, and Jahaziah, the son of Tikvah, were placed over this matter; and Meshullam and Shabbethai, the Levites, helped them.

16 П ереселенцы сделали, как было предложено. Священник Ездра выбрал людей, которые были главами семейств, по одному из каждого семейства; все они были названы поименно. В первый день десятого месяца они сели, чтобы разбирать это дело,

And the sons of the captivity did so. And Ezra, the priest, and the men who were the heads of the fathers in the house of their fathers were separated, all of them by their names, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to inquire into the matter.

17 и к первому дню первого месяца закончили расследование относительно всех, кто женился на чужеземках. Список женатых на чужеземках

And they finished, with all the men that had taken strange women by the first day of the first month.

18 С реди потомков священников на чужеземках женились: из потомков Иисуса, сына Иоседека, и его братьев: Маасея, Элиезер, Иарив и Гедалия.

And among the sons of the priests that had taken strange women these were found: Of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and of his brethren: Maaseiah and Eliezer, and Jarib and Gedaliah.

19 ( Они обещали развестись со своими женами, и за свою вину каждый принес барана из своей отары в жертву повинности.)

And they gave their hands that they would send away their women; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their guiltiness.

20 И з потомков Иммера: Хананий и Зевадия.

And of the sons of Immer; Hanani and Zebadiah.

21 И з потомков Харима: Маасея, Елия, Шемая, Иехиил и Уззия.

And of the sons of Harim; Maaseiah, Elijah, Shemaiah, Jehiel, and Uzziah.

22 И з потомков Пашхура: Елиоенай, Маасея, Исмаил, Нафанаил, Иозавад и Эласа.

And of the sons of Pashur; Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Jozabad, and Elasah.

23 С реди левитов: Иозавад, Шимей, Келаия (он же Клита), Петахия, Иуда и Элиезер.

And of the sons of the Levites; Jozabad, Shimei, Kelaiah, (the same is Kelita,)Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.

24 И з певцов: Элиашив. Из служащих у ворот: Шаллум, Телем и Урий.

And of the singers; Eliashib; and of the porters; Shallum, Telem, and Uri.

25 А среди прочих израильтян: из потомков Пароша: Рамия, Иззия, Малхия, Миямин, Элеазар, Малхия и Венаия.

Likewise of Israel: of the sons of Parosh; Ramiah, Jeziah, Malchiah, Miamin, Eleazar, Malchijah, and Benaiah.

26 И з потомков Елама: Матфания, Захария, Иехиел, Авдий, Иеремот и Елия.

And of the sons of Elam; Mattaniah, Zechariah, Jehiel, Abdi, Jeremoth, and Eliah.

27 И з потомков Затту: Елиоенай, Элиашив, Матфания, Иеремот, Завад и Азиза.

And of the sons of Zattu; Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, Jeremoth, Zabad, and Aziza.

28 И з потомков Бевая: Иоханан, Ханания, Заббай и Атлай.

And of the sons of Bebai; Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, and Athlai.

29 И з потомков Бани: Мешуллам, Маллух, Адая, Иашув, Шеал и Иеремот.

And of the sons of Bani; Meshullam, Malluch, Adaiah, Jashub, Sheal, and Ramoth.

30 И з потомков Пахат-Моава: Адна, Хелал, Венаия, Маасея, Матфания, Веселеил, Биннуй и Манассия.

And of the sons of Pahath-moab; Adna, Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezaleel, Binnui, and Manasseh.

31 И з потомков Харима: Элиезер, Ишшия, Малхия, Шемая, Симеон,

And of the sons of Harim; Eliezer, Ishijah, Malchiah, Shemaiah, Shimeon,

32 В ениамин, Маллух и Шемария.

Benjamin, Malluch, and Shemariah.

33 И з потомков Хашума: Мафнай, Маттфа, Завад, Элифелет, Иеремай, Манассия и Шимей.

Of the sons of Hashum; Mattenai, Mattathah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, and Shimei.

34 И з потомков Бани: Маадай, Амрам, Уел,

Of the sons of Bani; Maadai, Amram, and Uel,

35 Б енаия, Бидья, Келуги,

Benaiah, Bedeiah, Chelluh,

36 В анея, Меремоф, Элиашив,

Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib,

37 М атфания, Мафнай и Иаасай.

Mattaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasau,

38 И з потомков Биннуя: Шимей,

Bani, Binnui, Shimei,

39 Ш елемия, Нафан, Адая,

Shelemiah, Nathan, and Adaiah,

40 М ахнадбай, Шашай, Шарай,

Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai,

41 А зариил, Шелемиягу, Шемария,

Azareel, Shelemiah, Shemariah,

42 Ш аллум, Амария и Иосиф.

Shallum, Amariah, and Joseph.

43 И з потомков Нево: Иеиел, Маттифия, Завад, Зевина, Иаддай, Иоил и Бенаия.

And of the sons of Nebo; Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jadau, Joel, and Benaiah.

44 В се они женились на чужеземках, и некоторые из их жен родили им детей.

All these had taken strange women, and there were women of theirs who had given birth to sons.
