1 П римерно в это же время царь Ирод арестовал некоторых членов церкви, чтобы сделать им зло.

¶ Now at that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to mistreat certain of the congregation.

2 О н приказал убить мечом Иакова, брата Иоанна.

And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

3 К огда он увидел, что иудеи этим довольны, он арестовал и Петра. Это произошло во время праздника Пресных хлебов.

And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

4 П етра арестовали, заточили в тюрьму и выставили охрану из четырех смен караула по четыре человека в каждой. Ирод намеревался после Пасхи вывести Петра к народу.

And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him, intending after the Passover to bring him forth to the people.

5 П етр был под стражей в тюрьме, а церковь горячо молилась о нем Богу.

¶ Peter therefore was kept in the prison, and the congregation made prayer without unto God for him.

6 В ночь перед тем, как Ирод должен был вывести его на суд, Петр спал между двумя солдатами, скованный двумя цепями, а стражники у входа стерегли тюрьму.

And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and the guards before the door that kept the prison.

7 В незапно явился ангел Господа, и камеру осиял свет. Ангел толкнул Петра в бок и разбудил его. – Вставай быстрее! – сказал он, и цепи упали с рук Петра.

And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shone in the prison, and he smote Peter on the side and woke him up, saying, Arise quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

8 А нгел сказал: – Подпояшься и обуй сандалии. Петр сделал это. – Обернись плащом и иди за мной, – сказал ангел.

And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he said unto him, Cast thy garment about thee and follow me.

9 П етр вышел за ангелом из тюрьмы, не понимая, что все, что делает ангел, происходит наяву. Ему казалось, что он видит видение.

And he went out and followed him and knew not that it was true which was done by the angel, but thought he saw a vision.

10 О ни прошли мимо первой стражи, потом мимо второй и подошли к железным воротам, ведущим в город. Ворота сами открылись перед ними, и они вышли. Они прошли одну улицу, и вдруг ангел исчез.

When they were past the first and the second guard, they came unto the iron gate that leads unto the city, which opened to them of its own accord, and they went out and passed on through one street, and then the angel departed from him.

11 К огда Петр пришел в себя, он сказал: – Теперь я действительно знаю, что Господь послал Своего ангела и избавил меня от руки Ирода и спас от того зла, которое желал мне иудейский народ.

And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety that the Lord has sent his angel and has delivered me out of the hand of Herod and from all the people of the Jews who waited for me.

12 П оняв, что произошло, Петр пошел в дом Марии, матери Иоанна, которого еще называли Марком, где собралось для молитвы много народа.

And considering this, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together praying.

13 П етр постучал в ворота, и на стук вышла служанка Рода.

And as Peter knocked at the door of the patio, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.

14 О на узнала Петра по голосу и, забыв от радости открыть ворота, побежала обратно сказать, что Петр стоит у ворот.

And when she recognized Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in and told how Peter stood at the gate.

15 – Ты не в своем уме! – сказали ей. Но она продолжала настаивать. – Это его ангел, – решили они.

And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then they said, It is his angel.

16 П етр между тем продолжал стучать, и когда они, наконец, открыли ворота и увидели его, то пришли в изумление.

But Peter continued knocking, and when they had opened the door and saw him, they were astonished.

17 П етр жестом попросил их молчать и рассказал, как Господь вывел его из тюрьмы. – Расскажите об этом Иакову и другим братьям, – сказал он им и ушел оттуда в другое место.

But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to be silent, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go make these things known unto James and to the brethren. And he departed and went to another place.

18 Н аутро среди солдат произошло большое замешательство, никто не знал, что случилось с Петром.

Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers concerning what was become of Peter.

19 И род искал его, но поскольку розыски не принесли результата, он допросил стражников и велел казнить их. Смерть Ирода Затем Ирод отправился из Иудеи в Кесарию и оставался там некоторое время.

And when Herod had sought for him and found him not, he examined the guards and commanded that they should be taken away. Then he went down from Judaea to Caesarea and abode there.

20 И род был рассержен на жителей Тира и Сидона, и те, согласившись между собой, явились к нему и, заручившись поддержкой Бласта, управляющего царским двором, попросили мира, потому что их область зависела от области царя в поставке продовольствия.

¶ And Herod was highly displeased with those of Tyre and Sidon, but they came with one accord to him, and, having bribed Blastus, the king’s chamberlain, they asked for peace because their lands were supplied through those of the king’s.

21 В назначенный день Ирод надел царскую мантию, сел на трон и обратился к ним с речью.

And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne and made an oration unto them.

22 Н арод стал восклицать: – Это голос бога, а не человека!

And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of god, and not of man.

23 Н о в тот же момент ангел Господа поразил Ирода, потому что он не воздал славы Богу, и Ирод, изъеденный червями, умер.

And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him because he did not give God the glory, and he expired eaten of worms.

24 С лово Божье между тем распространялось все дальше и дальше.

But the word of the Lord grew and multiplied.

25 В арнава и Савл выполнили возложенную на них миссию и возвратились из Иерусалима, взяв с собой Иоанна, которого еще называли Марком.

And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.
