1 С ын мой, будь внимателен к моей мудрости, внимай моему разуму,

¶ My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my intelligence;

2 ч тобы тебе сохранить рассудительность, и чтобы речь твоя всегда выказывала знание.

that thou may keep council and that thy lips may conserve knowledge.

3 В едь уста чужой жены сочатся медом, и речь ее – мягче масла;

For the lips of the strange woman drop as a honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil,

4 н о под конец она горька, как полынь, остра, как меч обоюдоострый.

But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.

5 Н исходят ноги ее к смерти, ее шаги ведут в мир мертвых.

Her feet go down to death, her steps uphold Sheol,

6 О стезе жизни она и не думает; кривы ее тропы, а она и не знает.

lest thou should ponder the path of life, her ways are unstable; thou shalt not know them.

7 И так, сыновья, послушайте меня; не отклоняйтесь от того, что я говорю.

Hear me now therefore, O ye sons, and do not depart from the words of my mouth.

8 Д ержи свой путь от нее подальше, к дверям ее дома не приближайся,

Remove thy way far from her, and do not come near the door of her house,

9 ч тобы чести своей не отдать другим, и безжалостным – своих лет,

lest thou give thine honour unto others and thy years unto the cruel,

10 ч тобы богатством твоим не насыщались чужие, и твой труд не обогатил чужого дома.

lest strangers be filled with thy wealth, and thy labours be in the house of a stranger,

11 Н е то под конец жизни ты будешь стонать, когда плоть и тело твои будут истощены.

and thou mourn at the last when thy flesh and thy body are consumed

12 Б удешь говорить: «Как ненавидел я наставление! Как сердце мое презирало упрек!

and say, How have I hated chastening and my heart despised reproof

13 Я не слушался учителей и наставникам не внимал.

and have not obeyed the voice of those who chastened me, nor inclined my ear to those that instructed me!

14 Я стою на краю окончательной гибели у всего собрания на глазах».

I have been in almost every kind of evil, in the midst of society and of the congregation.

15 П ей воду из своего водоема, воду, текущую из своего колодца.

¶ Drink waters out of thine own cistern and running waters out of thine own well.

16 З ачем твоим родникам растекаться по улицам и потокам вод твоих – по площадям?

Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of thy waters in the streets.

17 П усть они будут только твоими, с чужими не делись.

Let them be only thine own and not for strangers with thee.

18 П усть источник твой будет благословен. Радуйся жене твоей юности,

Thy fountain shall be blessed; and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

19 п рекрасной лани, изящной серне. Пусть груди ее утоляют твое желание во всякое время, пусть всегда ты будешь опьянен ее любовью.

Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love, without eyes for anyone else.

20 З ачем, мой сын, опьяняться тебе другой и обнимать стан чужой жены?

And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a woman belonging to someone else, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

21 В едь пути человека открыты Господу, и Он наблюдает за всеми его тропами.

For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he weighs all his goings.

22 Г рехи нечестивого ловят его в западню; крепко держат его узы собственного греха.

His own iniquities shall take hold of the wicked, and he shall be imprisoned with the cords of his sins.

23 Г ибнет он, не получив наставления, и сбивается с пути по великой своей глупости.

He shall die because he did not submit to chastening; and due to the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
