1 Н екоторое время спустя виночерпий и пекарь египетского царя провинились перед своим господином, царем Египта.

¶ And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had sinned against their lord, the king of Egypt.

2 Ф араон разгневался на двух своих приближенных, главного виночерпия и главного пекаря,

And Pharaoh was angry against his two officers, against the chief of the butlers and against the chief of the bakers.

3 и заключил их в темницу при доме начальника стражи, туда же, куда был заключен Иосиф.

And he put them in prison in the house of the captain of the guard, into the house of the prison where Joseph was bound.

4 Н ачальник стражи поручил их Иосифу, и тот прислуживал им. Они пробыли в заточении некоторое время,

And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them; and they continued for days in prison.

5 и вот им обоим – виночерпию и пекарю египетского царя, которые сидели в темнице – в одну и ту же ночь приснились сны, и каждый сон имел свое особое значение.

¶ And both of them dreamed a dream, each man his dream in the same night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were bound in the prison.

6 П ридя к ним на следующее утро, Иосиф увидел, что они чем-то опечалены.

And Joseph came in unto them in the morning and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad.

7 О н спросил приближенных фараона, заключенных вместе с ним в доме его господина: – Почему у вас сегодня такой печальный вид?

And he asked Pharaoh’s officers that were with him in the prison of his lord’s house, saying, Why look ye so sad today?

8 – Нам обоим приснились сны, – ответили они, – а истолковать их некому. Иосиф сказал им: – Разве толкование не от Бога? Расскажите мне ваши сны.

And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell me the dreams, I pray you.

9 Г лавный виночерпий рассказал Иосифу свой сон: – Я видел во сне виноградную лозу,

Then the chief butler told his dream to Joseph and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me,

10 и на лозе были три ветви. Едва на ней показались почки, как она расцвела, и цветы сразу превратились в гроздья винограда.

and in the vine were three branches, and it was as though it budded and her blossoms shot forth, and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes;

11 У меня в руке была чаша фараона; я взял виноград, выжал сок в чашу и подал чашу в руку фараону.

and Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand.

12 – Вот что это значит, – сказал ему Иосиф. – Три ветви – это три дня.

And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days;

13 Ч ерез три дня фараон возвысит тебя и возвратит на прежнее место, и ты подашь фараону его чашу, как в прежние времена, когда ты был его виночерпием.

yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head and restore thee unto thy place, and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh’s cup into his hand after the former manner when thou wast his butler.

14 Н о в те добрые для тебя времена, молю тебя, вспомни обо мне и окажи мне милость: упомяни обо мне фараону, чтобы вызволить меня из темницы.

Therefore thou shalt think of me within thyself when it shall be well with thee, and show mercy, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh and bring me out of this house;

15 М еня ведь насильно увезли из земли евреев, и здесь я тоже не сделал ничего такого, чтобы сидеть в темнице.

for indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews; neither have I done anything here that they should put me into the prison.

16 У видев, что Иосиф дал благоприятное истолкование, главный пекарь сказал Иосифу: – Мне тоже приснился сон: я держал на голове три корзины с хлебом.

When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head;

17 В верхней была всякая выпечка для фараона, но ее клевали птицы прямо из корзины на моей голове.

and in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of baked foods for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket upon my head.

18 – Вот что это значит, – сказал Иосиф. – Три корзины – это три дня.

Then Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days.

19 Ч ерез три дня фараон возвысит и тебя тоже – тебе отрубят голову, а тело посадят на кол, и птицы будут клевать его.

Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee and shall hang thee on a tree, and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.

20 Н а третий день, в свой день рождения, фараон устроил пир для всех своих придворных, и в их окружении он возвысил главного виночерпия и главного пекаря:

¶ And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, that he made a banquet unto all his slaves, and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his slaves.

21 г лавного виночерпия он возвратил на прежнее место, и тот вновь подал чашу в руку фараону,

And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again, and he gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand.

22 а главного пекаря посадил на кол, как Иосиф и сказал им в своем истолковании.

But he hanged the chief baker; as Joseph had interpreted to them.

23 Н о главный виночерпий не вспомнил об Иосифе; он забыл о нем.

Yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph but forgot him.
