1 С ын мой, не забывай моего поучения и в сердце храни мои повеления;

¶ My son, forget not my law, but let thine heart keep my commandments:

2 о ни продлят твою жизнь на много лет и принесут тебе мир.

For they shall add length of days and long life and peace unto thee.

3 Д а не покинут тебя любовь и верность; обвяжи ими свою шею, запиши их на дощечке сердца.

Let not mercy and truth forsake thee; bind them about thy neck; write them upon the tablet of thine heart:

4 Т огда ты найдешь расположение и доброе имя у Бога и у людей.

So shalt thou find grace and good favour in the sight of God and man.

5 Д оверяй Господу от всего сердца и не полагайся на собственный разум;

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 п ознавай Его во всех своих путях, и стези твои Он сделает ровными.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

7 Н е будь мудрецом в своих глазах; бойся Господа и избегай зла.

¶ Be not wise in thine own eyes; fear the LORD and depart from evil.

8 Э то принесет здоровье твоему телу и укрепит твои кости.

It shall be medicine to thy navel and marrow to thy bones.

9 Ч ти Господа своим достоянием, первыми плодами от всех своих урожаев.

Honour the LORD with thy substance and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

10 Т огда наполнятся до отказа твои амбары, и молодое вино переполнит твои давильни.

So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

11 С ын мой, не отвергай наказания Господнего и не злись на Его укор,

My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:

12 в едь Господь обличает того, кого любит, как отец – сына, который ему угоден.

For the LORD chastens whom he loves and delights in, even as a father to his son.

13 Б лажен тот, кто находит мудрость, и человек, который обретает понимание,

¶ Blessed is the man that has found wisdom and who brings to light intelligence,

14 п отому что мудрость выгоднее серебра, и приносит больший доход, чем золото.

for the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver and the fruits thereof more than fine gold.

15 О на дороже драгоценных камней; ничто из желаемого тобой не сравнится с ней.

She is more precious than precious stones, and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

16 Д олгая жизнь – в ее правой руке, а в левой ее руке – богатство и слава.

Length of days is in her right hand and in her left hand riches and honour.

17 П ути ее – пути приятные, и все стези ее – мирные.

Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

18 Д ерево жизни она для тех, кто ею овладеет; счастливы те, кто ее удержит.

She is a tree of life to those that lay hold upon her, and blessed is every one that retains her.

19 М удростью Господь основал землю, разумом утвердил небеса;

The LORD by wisdom has founded the earth; by intelligence has he established the heavens.

20 з нанием Его разверзлись бездны, и сочатся росой облака.

By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the heavens drop down the dew.

21 С ын мой, храни здравомыслие и рассудительность, не теряй их из вида;

¶ My son, do not let them depart from thine eyes; keep sound wisdom and discretion,

22 д ля тебя они будут жизнью, украшением для твоей шеи.

so shall they be life unto thy soul and grace to thy neck.

23 Т огда пойдешь по пути своему в безопасности, и ноги твои не споткнутся.

Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

24 К огда ляжешь, не будешь бояться, когда ляжешь, твой сон будет сладок.

When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

25 Н е бойся внезапной беды и гибели, что поразит нечестивых,

Thou shall not be afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked when it comes.

26 п отому что Господь будет твоей надеждой и сохранит твои ноги от западни.

For the LORD shall be thy confidence and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

27 Н е отказывай в благе тем, кто его достоин, когда это в твоей власти.

¶ Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

28 Н е говори ближнему: «Приходи-ка попозже, я дам тебе завтра», – когда у тебя есть то, что он просит.

Do not say unto thy neighbour, Go and come again and tomorrow I will give when thou hast it by thee.

29 Н е замышляй зла против ближнего, который без опаски живет с тобой рядом.

Do not devise evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwells securely by thee.

30 Н е ссорься ни с кем без повода, когда тебе не причинили зла.

Do not sue a man without cause, if he has done thee no harm.

31 Н е завидуй жестокому и не избирай ни одного из его путей,

Envy thou not the oppressor and choose none of his ways.

32 п отому что мерзок Господу коварный, а праведным Он доверяет.

For the perverse is an abomination to the LORD; but his secret is with the righteous.

33 Н а доме нечестивого – Господне проклятие, но жилище праведных Он благословляет.

The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked, but he shall bless the habitation of the just.

34 О н высмеивает насмешников, но смиренным Он дает благодать.

Surely he scorns the scorners; but he gives grace unto the humble.

35 М удрые унаследуют славу, а глупцы получат бесчестие.

The wise shall inherit glory; but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
