1 Я , находящийся в заключении ради Господа, умоляю вас: раз вы призваны Богом, то живите достойно вашего призвания.

¶ I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation with which ye are called,

2 Б удьте скромны и кротки, относитесь друг ко другу с терпением и любовью.

¶ with all humility and meekness, with tolerance, forbearing one another in love,

3 Д елайте все возможное для того, чтобы скрепить свое духовное единство узами мира.

being diligent to guard the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

4 Д ух один и тело одно, так же, как и надежда, к которой вы были призваны, – одна.

There is one body and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling,

5 О дин Господь, одна вера, одно крещение,

one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

6 о дин Бог – Отец всех. Он стоит надо всем и действует через все и во всем.

one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all, and in you all.

7 К аждому из нас дана благодать по мере Христова дара.

But unto each one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of the Christ.

8 П оэтому и сказано: «Он поднялся на высоту, пленил пленных и дал дары людям».

Therefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive and gave gifts unto men.

9 « Поднялся» означает не что иное, как то, что Он прежде спускался вниз, на землю.

(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

10 Э тот спустившийся и есть Тот Самый, Кто поднялся выше небес, чтобы наполнить Собой всю вселенную.

He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all the heavens, that he might fulfill all things.)

11 И Он дал одним быть апостолами, другим – пророками, третьим – проповедниками Радостной Вести, четвертым – быть пастырями и учителями,

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers,

12 ч тобы приготовить святых к делу служения, для созидания тела Христа

for the perfecting of the saints in the work of the ministry, unto the edifying of the body of the Christ

13 д о тех пор, пока мы все не достигнем единства в вере и в познании Сына Божьего, духовной зрелости и пока не будем подобны Христу, в Котором полнота совершенства.

until we all come forth in the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the coming of age of the Christ:

14 И тогда мы уже не будем малыми детьми, колеблемыми волнами и носимыми ветрами разных учений, которые делают нас жертвами хитрых обманщиков, вводящих людей в заблуждение.

That we no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men and cunning craftiness, by which they lie in wait to deceive,

15 Н о говоря с любовью истину, мы будем возрастать, во всем отражая характер Христа, Который является Главой

but following the truth in charity, let us grow up into him in all things, who is the head, the Christ:

16 и благодаря Которому все тело соединено и скреплено всевозможными связями и все части его выполняют каждая свою функцию. При этом все тело возрастает и созидается в любви. Прежняя жизнь и новая жизнь

From whom the whole body fitly joined together and well tied together among itself by the nourishment that every connecting bond supplies, by the operation of each member according to measure they have received, making increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in charity.

17 П оэтому я заявляю и настаиваю ради Господа: перестаньте жить как язычники, чьи мысли пусты,

¶ This I say, therefore, and require in the Lord that from now on ye not walk as the other Gentiles walk in the vanity of their own senses,

18 п отому что их сознание помрачено. Они отчуждены от жизни, которую дает Бог, из-за их духовной слепоты, произошедшей по черствости их сердец.

having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them because of the blindness of their heart,

19 П отеряв всякую чувствительность, они предаются разврату, с ненасытностью погрязая во всякой нечистоте.

who, after losing all sense of feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness to work all uncleanness with greediness.

20 Н о вы не так узнали Христа.

But ye have not so learned of the Christ,

21 Б ез сомнения, вы слышали о Нем и в Нем были научены истине, поскольку истина заключена в Иисусе.

if so be that ye have heard him and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus,

22 В ас учили тому, чтобы вы оставили прежний образ жизни, свойственный вашей старой природе, разлагающейся из-за своих обманчивых низменных желаний.

that ye put off everything concerning the old way of life, that is, the old man who corrupts himself according to deceitful desires,

23 О бновите ваш образ мыслей,

and be renewed in the spirit of your understanding

24 о деньтесь в новую природу, отражающую характер Бога – истинную праведность и святость.

and that ye put on the new man, which is created in conformity to God in righteousness and in the holiness of the truth.

25 П усть каждый из вас оставит ложь и говорит своим ближним правду, потому что все мы члены одного тела.

Therefore, leaving the lie, speak every man truth with his neighbour, for we are members one of another.

26 « Гневаясь, не грешите», пусть ваш гнев пройдет прежде, чем зайдет солнце;

Be ye angry and sin not; let not the sun go down upon your wrath,

27 н е давайте дьяволу места в вашей жизни.

neither give place to the devil.

28 К то крал, пусть больше не крадет, а зарабатывает на жизнь своим трудом и делится с теми, кто в нужде.

Let him that stole steal no more, but rather let him labour, working with his hands that which is good, that he may have to give to him that is in need.

29 Н е произносите никаких дурных слов, говорите лишь полезное для назидания, чтобы это приносило благодать слушающим.

Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good for edification, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

30 Н е огорчайте Святого Духа Божьего, Которым вы были запечатлены для дня искупления.

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God with which ye are sealed for the day of redemption.

31 И збавьтесь от всякой горечи в душе, гнева, ярости, крика, злословия и всякого рода злобы.

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamour and evil speaking be taken away from you, with all malice,

32 Б удьте добры друг ко другу, проявляйте сострадание, прощайте друг друга, как и Бог в Христе простил вас.

and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another even as God has forgiven you in Christ.
