1 Т огда Иов ответил:

¶ But Job answered and said,

2 – Внимательно выслушайте меня; пусть это и будет от вас утешением.

Hear diligently my speech, and let this be instead of your consolations.

3 П отерпите, пока я говорю, а когда умолкну, можете насмехаться.

Suffer me that I may speak; and after I have spoken, mock on.

4 Р азве я жалуюсь человеку? Разве у меня нет причин быть нетерпеливым?

As for me, is my complaint to man? And if so, why should not my spirit be troubled?

5 П осмотрев на меня, ужаснитесь; положите ладонь на уста.

Look upon me and be astonished and lay your hand upon your mouth.

6 Р азмышляя об этом, я содрогаюсь, мое тело бросает в дрожь. Иов утверждает, что нечестивые счастливы

Even I myself, when I remember, I am afraid, and trembling takes hold on my flesh.

7 П очему нечестивые живут, достигая старости и возрастая силой?

¶ Why do the wicked live and become old and even increase in riches?

8 И х дети вокруг них, их потомство – у них на глазах.

Their seed is with them, established in their sight, and their offspring before their eyes.

9 И х дома в безопасности и страха не ведают, и жезла Божьего нет на них.

Their houses are safe from fear; neither is the rod of God upon them.

10 И х бык оплодотворяет и не извергает, их корова телится и не выкидывает.

Their cows conceive, and do not abort; their cows calve and do not cast forth their young.

11 О ни высылают детей, как стадо, и чада их танцуют.

They send forth their little ones like a flock of sheep, and their children dance.

12 О ни поют под бубен и арфу. веселятся под пение свирели.

They jump at the sound of the timbrel and harp and rejoice at the sound of the organ.

13 О ни проводят дни в благополучии, и спокойно нисходят в мир мертвых.

They spend their days in pleasure and in a moment go down to Sheol.

14 А Богу они говорят: «Оставь нас! Мы не хотим знать Твои пути.

Therefore, they say unto God, Depart from us; for we do not desire the knowledge of thy ways.

15 К то такой Всемогущий, чтобы нам служить Ему? Что пользы нам Ему молиться?»

Who is the Almighty that we should serve him? And what profit should we have if we pray unto him?

16 Н о благополучие их не в их руках; умысел злых далек от меня.

Behold that their good is not in their hands; the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

17 Н о часто ли гаснет светильник нечестивых? Часто ли к ним приходит беда, удел, каким Бог наделяет в гневе?

¶ How often is the lamp of the wicked put out and their destruction comes upon them, and God distributes sorrows upon them in his anger.

18 Ч асто ли они уподобляются соломе на ветру, мякине, гонимой вихрем?

They shall be as stubble before the wind and as chaff taken up by the whirlwind.

19 В ы говорите: «Бог приберегает наказание для их сыновей». Пусть Он воздаст им самим, чтобы впредь они знали!

God shall lay up his violence for their sons; and he will reward him so that he shall know it.

20 П усть своими глазами увидят гибель, пусть пьют гнев Всемогущего.

His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

21 Ч то за дело им до семьи, остающейся после них, когда срок их жизни истечет?

For what delight shall he have in his house after him, being cut off in the number of his months?

22 М ожет ли кто-нибудь преподать Богу знание, Тому, Кто судит даже вышних?

Shall he teach God knowledge, seeing he judges those that are high?

23 О дин умирает в расцвете сил, в безопасности и покое,

This one shall die in the full strength of his beauty, being completely at ease and quiet.

24 е го тело дородно, кости мозгом напоены.

His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.

25 А другой умирает, скорбя душой, не вкусив от жизни ни капли блага.

And another dies in the bitterness of his soul, never having eaten with pleasure.

26 И вместе будут лежать они в прахе, и облепят их черви.

They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.

27 Д а, я знаю ваши мысли, и ваши уловки против меня.

¶ Behold, I know your thoughts and the imaginations which ye devise against me.

28 В ы говорите: «Где теперь дом вельможи и шатры, в которых жили нечестивые?»

For ye say, What is of the house of the prince, and what of the tent of the habitation of the wicked?

29 Р азве вы не расспрашивали путешественников, и рассказам их не внимали,

Have ye not asked those that go by the way, and do ye not know their tokens?

30 к ак щадит нечестивого день беды, как день гнева его стороной обходит?

That the wicked is reserved for the day of destruction, they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.

31 К то его осудит ему в лицо? Кто воздаст ему за его дела?

Who shall declare his way to his face? And who shall repay him what he has done?

32 С почетом несут его хоронить и стражу возле могилы ставят.

He shall yet be brought to the grave and shall remain in the tomb.

33 З емля в долине ему сладка. Людской поток позади него, и перед ним – бесчисленная толпа.

The clods of the river valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall be drawn after him, as there were innumerable before him.

34 К ак же вам утешить меня пустым? От ваших ответов лишь ложь осталась!

How then do ye comfort me in vain, given that your answers remain as falsehood?
