1 И отвечал Иов и сказал:

¶ But Job answered and said,

2 в ыслушайте внимательно речь мою, и это будет мне утешением от вас.

Hear diligently my speech, and let this be instead of your consolations.

3 П отерпите меня, и я буду говорить; а после того, как поговорю, насмехайся.

Suffer me that I may speak; and after I have spoken, mock on.

4 Р азве к человеку речь моя? как же мне и не малодушествовать?

As for me, is my complaint to man? And if so, why should not my spirit be troubled?

5 П осмотрите на меня и ужаснитесь, и положите перст на уста.

Look upon me and be astonished and lay your hand upon your mouth.

6 Л ишь только я вспомню, --содрогаюсь, и трепет объемлет тело мое.

Even I myself, when I remember, I am afraid, and trembling takes hold on my flesh.

7 П очему беззаконные живут, достигают старости, да и силами крепки?

¶ Why do the wicked live and become old and even increase in riches?

8 Д ети их с ними перед лицем их, и внуки их перед глазами их.

Their seed is with them, established in their sight, and their offspring before their eyes.

9 Д омы их безопасны от страха, и нет жезла Божия на них.

Their houses are safe from fear; neither is the rod of God upon them.

10 В ол их оплодотворяет и не извергает, корова их зачинает и не выкидывает.

Their cows conceive, and do not abort; their cows calve and do not cast forth their young.

11 К ак стадо, выпускают они малюток своих, и дети их прыгают.

They send forth their little ones like a flock of sheep, and their children dance.

12 В осклицают под тимпана и цитры и веселятся при свирели;

They jump at the sound of the timbrel and harp and rejoice at the sound of the organ.

13 п роводят дни свои в счастьи и мгновенно нисходят в преисподнюю.

They spend their days in pleasure and in a moment go down to Sheol.

14 А между тем они говорят Богу: отойди от нас, не хотим мы знать путей Твоих!

Therefore, they say unto God, Depart from us; for we do not desire the knowledge of thy ways.

15 Ч то Вседержитель, чтобы нам служить Ему? и что пользы прибегать к Нему?

Who is the Almighty that we should serve him? And what profit should we have if we pray unto him?

16 В идишь, счастье их не от их рук. --Совет нечестивых будь далек от меня!

Behold that their good is not in their hands; the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

17 Ч асто ли угасает светильник у беззаконных, и находит на них беда, и Он дает им в удел страдания во гневе Своем?

¶ How often is the lamp of the wicked put out and their destruction comes upon them, and God distributes sorrows upon them in his anger.

18 О ни должны быть, как соломинка пред ветром и как плева, уносимая вихрем.

They shall be as stubble before the wind and as chaff taken up by the whirlwind.

19 Б ог бережет для детей его несчастье его. --Пусть воздаст Он ему самому, чтобы он это знал.

God shall lay up his violence for their sons; and he will reward him so that he shall know it.

20 П усть его глаза увидят несчастье его, и пусть он сам пьет от гнева Вседержителева.

His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

21 И бо какая ему забота до дома своего после него, когда число месяцев его кончится?

For what delight shall he have in his house after him, being cut off in the number of his months?

22 Н о Бога ли учить мудрости, когда Он судит и горних?

Shall he teach God knowledge, seeing he judges those that are high?

23 О дин умирает в самой полноте сил своих, совершенно спокойный и мирный;

This one shall die in the full strength of his beauty, being completely at ease and quiet.

24 в нутренности его полны жира, и кости его напоены мозгом.

His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.

25 А другой умирает с душею огорченною, не вкусив добра.

And another dies in the bitterness of his soul, never having eaten with pleasure.

26 И они вместе будут лежать во прахе, и червь покроет их.

They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.

27 З наю я ваши мысли и ухищрения, какие вы против меня сплетаете.

¶ Behold, I know your thoughts and the imaginations which ye devise against me.

28 В ы скажете: где дом князя, и где шатер, в котором жили беззаконные?

For ye say, What is of the house of the prince, and what of the tent of the habitation of the wicked?

29 Р азве вы не спрашивали у путешественников и незнакомы с их наблюдениями,

Have ye not asked those that go by the way, and do ye not know their tokens?

30 ч то в день погибели пощажен бывает злодей, в день гнева отводится в сторону?

That the wicked is reserved for the day of destruction, they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.

31 К то представит ему пред лице путь его, и кто воздаст ему за то, что он делал?

Who shall declare his way to his face? And who shall repay him what he has done?

32 Е го провожают ко гробам и на его могиле ставят стражу.

He shall yet be brought to the grave and shall remain in the tomb.

33 С ладки для него глыбы долины, и за ним идет толпа людей, а идущим перед ним нет числа.

The clods of the river valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall be drawn after him, as there were innumerable before him.

34 К ак же вы хотите утешать меня пустым? В ваших ответах остается ложь.

How then do ye comfort me in vain, given that your answers remain as falsehood?
