1 Д оброе имя лучше большого богатства, и добрая слава лучше серебра и золота.

¶ A good reputation is rather to be chosen than great riches and good grace rather than silver and gold.

2 Б огатый и бедный встречаются друг с другом: того и другого создал Господь.

¶ The rich and poor meet together; the LORD is the maker of them all.

3 Б лагоразумный видит беду, и укрывается; а неопытные идут вперед, и наказываются.

¶ A prudent man foresees the evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and receive hurt.

4 З а смирением следует страх Господень, богатство и слава и жизнь.

¶ Riches and honour and life are the remuneration of humility and of the fear of the LORD.

5 Т ерны и сети на пути коварного; кто бережет душу свою, удались от них.

¶ Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse; he that keeps his soul shall be far from them.

6 Н аставь юношу при начале пути его: он не уклонится от него, когда и состарится.

¶ Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.

7 Б огатый господствует над бедным, и должник рабом заимодавца.

¶ The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.

8 С еющий неправду пожнет беду, и трости гнева его не станет.

¶ He that sows iniquity shall reap iniquity, and the rod of his anger shall fail.

9 М илосердый будет благословляем, потому что дает бедному от хлеба своего.

¶ He that has a merciful eye shall be blessed, for he gives of his bread to the destitute.

10 П рогони кощунника, и удалится раздор, и прекратятся ссора и брань.

¶ Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; strife and reproach shall cease.

11 К то любит чистоту сердца, у того приятность на устах, тому царь--друг.

¶ He that loves pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.

12 О чи Господа охраняют знание, а слова законопреступника Он ниспровергает.

¶ The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthrows the words of the transgressor.

13 Л енивец говорит: 'лев на улице! посреди площади убьют меня!'

¶ The slothful man says, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.

14 Г лубокая пропасть--уста блудниц: на кого прогневается Господь, тот упадет туда.

¶ The mouth of strange women is a deep pit; he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.

15 Г лупость привязалась к сердцу юноши, но исправительная розга удалит ее от него.

¶ Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

16 К то обижает бедного, чтобы умножить свое богатство, и кто дает богатому, тот обеднеет.

¶ He that oppresses the poor to increase his riches and who gives to the rich shall surely come to want.

17 П риклони ухо твое, и слушай слова мудрых, и сердце твое обрати к моему знанию;

¶ Bow down thine ear and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my wisdom.

18 п отому что утешительно будет, если ты будешь хранить их в сердце твоем, и они будут также в устах твоих.

For it is a delightful thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall be ordered together in thy lips.

19 Ч тобы упование твое было на Господа, я учу тебя и сегодня, и ты.

That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.

20 Н е писал ли я тебе трижды в советах и наставлении,

Have I not written unto thee three times in counsels and knowledge,

21 ч тобы научить тебя точным словам истины, дабы ты мог передавать слова истины посылающим тебя?

that I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth, that thou mightest answer the words of truth to those that send unto thee?

22 Н е будь грабителем бедного, потому что он беден, и не притесняй несчастного у ворот,

¶ Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither destroy the destitute in judgment:

23 п отому что Господь вступится в дело их и исхитит душу у грабителей их.

For the LORD will judge their cause and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

24 Н е дружись с гневливым и не сообщайся с человеком вспыльчивым,

¶ Do not meddle with an angry man, and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

25 ч тобы не научиться путям его и не навлечь петли на душу твою.

Lest thou learn his ways and get a snare to thy soul.

26 Н е будь из тех, которые дают руки и поручаются за долги:

¶ Be not thou one of them that strike hands or of them that are sureties for debts.

27 е сли тебе нечем заплатить, то для чего доводить себя, чтобы взяли постель твою из-под тебя?

If thou hast nothing to pay, why should they take away thy bed from under thee?

28 Н е передвигай межи давней, которую провели отцы твои.

¶ Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

29 В идел ли ты человека проворного в своем деле? Он будет стоять перед царями, он не будет стоять перед простыми.

¶ Seest thou a man diligent in his work? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before obscure men.
