1 З а предпочитане е <добро> име, нежели голямо богатство, И благоволение <е по-добро> от сребро и злато.

¶ A good reputation is rather to be chosen than great riches and good grace rather than silver and gold.

2 Б огат и сиромах се срещат; Господ е Създателят на всички тях.

¶ The rich and poor meet together; the LORD is the maker of them all.

3 Б лагоразумният предвижда злото и се укрива. А неразумните вървят напред - и страдат.

¶ A prudent man foresees the evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and receive hurt.

4 Н аградата на смирението <и> на страха от Господа Е богатство, слава и живот.

¶ Riches and honour and life are the remuneration of humility and of the fear of the LORD.

5 Т ръни и примки има по пътя на опакия, Който пази душата си се отдалечава от тях.

¶ Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse; he that keeps his soul shall be far from them.

6 В ъзпитавай детето отрано в подходящия за него път, И не ще се отклони от него, дори когато остарее.

¶ Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.

7 Б огатият властвува над сиромасите, И който взема на заем е слуга на заемодавеца.

¶ The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.

8 К ойто сее беззаконие ще пожъне бедствие, И жезълът на буйството му ще изчезне.

¶ He that sows iniquity shall reap iniquity, and the rod of his anger shall fail.

9 К ойто има щедро око ще бъде благословен Защото дава от хляба си на сиромаха.

¶ He that has a merciful eye shall be blessed, for he gives of his bread to the destitute.

10 И зпъди присмивателя и препирнята ще се махне, И свадата и позорът ще престанат.

¶ Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; strife and reproach shall cease.

11 К ойто обича чистота в сърцето И има благодатни устни, царят ще му бъде приятел.

¶ He that loves pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.

12 О чите на Господа пазят <онзи, който има> знание, И той осуетява думите на коварния.

¶ The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthrows the words of the transgressor.

13 Л енивецът казва: Лъв има вън! Ще бъда убит всред улиците!

¶ The slothful man says, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.

14 У стата на чужди жени са дълбока яма, И оня, на когото Господ се гневи, ще падне в нея.

¶ The mouth of strange women is a deep pit; he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.

15 Б езумието е вързано в сърцето на детето, Но тоягата на наказанието ще го изгони от него.

¶ Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

16 К ойто угнетява сиромаха, за да умножи <богатството> си, И който дава на богатия, непременно <ще изпадне> в немотия.

¶ He that oppresses the poor to increase his riches and who gives to the rich shall surely come to want.

17 П риклони ухото си та чуй думите на мъдрите, И взимай присърце моето знание,

¶ Bow down thine ear and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my wisdom.

18 З ащото е приятно, ако ги пазиш вътре в себе си, И ако бъдат всякога готови върху устните ти.

For it is a delightful thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall be ordered together in thy lips.

19 З а да бъде упованието ти на Господа, Аз те научих на <тях> днес - да! тебе.

That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.

20 Н е писах ли ти хубави неща От съвет и знание.

Have I not written unto thee three times in counsels and knowledge,

21 З а да те направя да познаеш верността на думите на истината, Та да отговаряш с думи на истината на ония, които те пращат?

that I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth, that thou mightest answer the words of truth to those that send unto thee?

22 Н е оголвай сиромаха, защото той е беден, Нито притеснявай в портата угнетения,

¶ Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither destroy the destitute in judgment:

23 З ащото Господ ще защити делото им, И ще оголи живота на ония, които са ги оголили.

For the LORD will judge their cause and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

24 Н е завързвай приятелство с ядовит човек, И не ходи с гневлив човек.

¶ Do not meddle with an angry man, and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

25 Д а не би да научиш пътищата му, И да приготвиш примка за душата си.

Lest thou learn his ways and get a snare to thy soul.

26 Н е бъди от тия, които дават ръка От тия, които стават поръчители за дългове,

¶ Be not thou one of them that strike hands or of them that are sureties for debts.

27 А ко нямаш с какво да платиш, Защо да вземат постелката ти изпод тебе?

If thou hast nothing to pay, why should they take away thy bed from under thee?

28 Н е премествай старите межди, Които са положили бащите ти.

¶ Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

29 В идял ли си човек трудолюбив в работата си? Той ще стои пред царе, няма да стои пред неизвестни хора.

¶ Seest thou a man diligent in his work? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before obscure men.
