1 Т огава Ровоам, като дойде в Ерусалим, събра Юдовия и Вениаминовия дом, сто и осемдесет хиляди отборни войници, за да се бият против Израиля, та дано възвърнат царството пак на Ровоама.

¶ And when Rehoboam came to Jerusalem, he gathered of the house of Judah and Benjamin one hundred and eighty thousand chosen men, who were warriors, to fight against Israel, that he might bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.

2 Н о Господното слово дойде към Божия човек Самаия, и рече:

But the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, the man of God, saying,

3 Г овори на Ровоама Соломоновия син, Юдовия цар, и на целия Израил в Юда и във Вениамин, като речеш:

Speak unto Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,

4 Т ака казва Господ: Не възлизайте, нито се бийте против братята си; върнете се всеки у дома си, защото от Мене става това нещо. И те послушаха Господните думи та се върнаха, и не отидоха против Еровоама.

Thus hath the LORD said, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren; return each man to his house; for this thing is done of me. And they heard the word of the LORD and returned and did not go against Jeroboam.

5 А Ровоам, като се установи, в Ерусалим, съгради укрепени градове в Юда;

And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem and built cities for defence in Judah.

6 с ъгради Витлеем, Итам, Текуе,

He built Bethlehem and Etam and Tekoa

7 В етсур, Сохо, Одолам,

and Bethzur and Shoco and Adullam

8 Г ет, Мариса, Зиф,

and Gath and Mareshah and Ziph

9 А дораим, Лахис, Азика,

and Adoraim and Lachish and Azekah

10 С арая, Еалон и Хеврон, които са укрепени градове в Юда и във Вениамин,

and Zorah and Aijalon and Hebron which are in Judah and in Benjamin, fenced cities.

11 У крепи <тия> крепости, и тури в тях военачалници и запаси от храна, дървено масло и вино.

And he fortified the strong holds, and put captains in them and provisions and wine and oil;

12 О ще във всеки град <тури> щитове и копия, и укрепи ги твърде много. Така Юда и Вениамин останаха под него.

and in all the cities he put shields and spears. He fortified them greatly, having Judah and Benjamin on his side.

13 И всичките свещеници и левити, които бяха в Израил, се събраха при него от всичките си краища.

¶ And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel gathered unto him out of all their borders.

14 З ащото левитите оставиха пасбищата си и притежанията си та дойдоха в Юда и в Ерусалим; понеже Еровоам и синовете му бяха ги изпъдили, за да не свещенодействуват Господу,

For the Levites left their suburbs and their possessions and came to Judah and Jerusalem, for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest’s office unto the LORD.

15 и <Еровоам> беше си поставил жреци за високите места, за бесовете и за телетата, които бе направил.

And he ordained himself priests for the high places and for the demons and for the calves which he had made.

16 И след тях, колкото души от всичките Израилеви племена утвърдиха сърцата си да търсят Господа Израилевия Бог, дойдоха в Ерусалим за да жертвуват на Господа Бога на бащите си.

And from after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the LORD God of Israel came to Jerusalem to sacrifice unto the LORD God of their fathers.

17 Т ака за три години те подкрепяха Юдовото царство и поддържаха Ровоама Соломоновия син; защото три години ходеха в пътя на Давида и на Соломона.

So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah and made Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, strong for three years because they walked three years in the way of David and of Solomon.

18 И Ровоам си взе за жена Маелетя, дъщеря на Давидовия син Еримот, и Авихаила, дъщеря на Есеевия син Елиав,

And Rehoboam took Mahalath, the daughter of Jerimoth, the son of David, to wife, and Abihail, the daughter of Eliab, the son of Jesse;

19 к оято му роди синове: Еуса, Самария и Заама.

who bore him sons: Jeush and Shamariah and Zaham.

20 А подир нея взе Авия, Атай, Зиза и Селомита.

And after her he took Maachah, the daughter of Absalom, who bore him Abijah and Attai and Ziza and Shelomith.

21 И Ровоам възлюби Мааха Авесаломовата дъщеря повече от всичките си жени и наложници: (защото взе осемнадесет жени и шестдесет наложници, и роди двадесет и осем сина и шестдесет дъщери);

But Rehoboam loved Maachah, the daughter of Absalom, above all his wives and his concubines (for he took eighteen wives and sixty concubines and begat twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.)

22 и Ровоам постави Маахиния син Авия за княз да началствува над братята си, защото <мислеше> да го направи цар.

And Rehoboam made Abijah, the son of Maachah, as head and prince among his brethren, for he thought to make him king.

23 И постъпваше разумно, като разпръсна всичките си синове, <по неколцина> във всеки укрепен град, по всичките Юдови и Вениаминови земи, и даваше им изобилна храна. И <за тях> потърси много жени.

And he caused him to be instructed and dispersed of all his sons throughout all the lands of Judah and Benjamin, unto every fenced city; and he gave them provisions in abundance. And he desired many wives.
