1 П ослушайте, чада, бащина поука, И внимавайте да научите разум.

¶ Hearken, ye sons, unto the chastening of the father, and pay attention that ye might know understanding.

2 П онеже ви давам добро учение, Не оставяйте наставлението ми.

For I give you good doctrine; do not forsake my law.

3 З ащото и аз бях син на баща си, Гален и безподобен на майка си,

For I was my father’s son, tender and unique in the sight of my mother.

4 И той ме наставляваше и ми казваше: Нека държи сърцето ти думите ми, Пази заповедите ми и ще живееш,

He taught me and said unto me, Sustain thine heart with my words; keep my commandments, and live.

5 П ридобий мъдрост, придобий разум; Не забравяй, нито се отклонявай от думите на устата ми.

Get wisdom, get understanding; forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

6 Н е я оставяй и тя ще те пази. Обичай я - и ще те варди.

Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee; love her, and she shall keep thee.

7 Г лавното е мъдрост; <затова> придобивай мъдрост, И при всичко, що си придобил, придобивай разум.

Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

8 В ъздигай я и тя ще те въздигне, Когато я прегърнеш, ще ти докара слава.

Grow in wisdom, and she shall promote thee; she shall bring thee to honour when thou hast embraced her.

9 Щ е положи на главата ти красив венец. Ще ти даде славна корона

She shall give to thine head an increase of grace; a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

10 С лушай, сине мой, и приеми думите ми, И годините на живота ти ще се умножат.

Hear, O my son, and receive my words, and the years of thy life shall be multiplied.

11 Н аставлявал съм те в пътя на мъдростта, Водил съм те по прави пътеки.

I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have caused thee to walk in right paths.

12 К огато ходиш стъпките ти не ще бъдат стеснени; И когато тичаш, няма да се спънеш.

When thou goest in these paths, thy steps shall not be hindered; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

13 Х вани се здраво за поуката, недей я оставя; Пази я, понеже тя е животът ти.

Take fast hold of chastening; do not let go; keep this; for it is thy life.

14 Н е влизай в пътеката на нечестивите, И не ходи по пътя на лошите.

¶ Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

15 О тбягвай от него, не минавай край него. Отклони се от него и замини.

Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.

16 З ащото те не заспиват, ако не сторят зло, И сън ги не хваща, ако не спънат някого.

For they do not sleep, unless they have done evil; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause someone to fall.

17 П онеже ядат хляб на нечестие, И пият вино на насилство.

For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

18 Н о пътя на праведните е като виделото на разсъмване, Което се развиделява, догдето стане съвършен ден.

But the path of the just is as the light of the morning star, that shines more and more until the day is perfect.

19 П ътят на нечестивите е като тъмнина; Не знаят от що се спъват.

The way of the wicked is as darkness; they do not know in what they stumble.

20 С ине мой, внимавай на думите ми, Приклони ухото си към беседите ми.

¶ My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my words.

21 Д а се не отдалечат от очите ти. Пази ги дълбоко в сърцето си;

Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

22 З ащото те са живот за тия, които ги намират, И здраве за цялата им снага.

For they are life unto those that find them and medicine to all their flesh.

23 П овече от всичко друго що пазиш, пази сърцето си, Защото от него са изворите на живота.

Above all else, guard thy heart; for out of it flows the issues of life.

24 О тмахни от себе си опърничави уста, И отдалечи от себе си развратени устни.

Put away from thee the perversion of the mouth, and the deviation of the lips put far from thee.

25 О чите ти нека гледат право напред, И клепачите ти нека бъдат оправени право пред тебе.

Let thine eyes look upon that which is right, and let thine eyelids straighten thy path before thee.

26 О бмисляй внимателно пътеката на нозете си, И всичките ти пътища нека бъдат добре уредени.

Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

27 Н е се отбивай ни на дясно ни на ляво; Отклони ногата си от зло.

Turn not to the right hand nor to the left; remove thy foot from evil.
