1 С лед това, като подигна Яков очи, видя, че идеше Исав и с него четиристотин мъже; и раздели децата си на Лия и Рахил и на двете слугини.

¶ And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, Esau came and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah and unto Rachel and unto the two handmaids.

2 С лугините и децата им тури напред, Лия и децата й подир тях, а Рахил и Иосифа най-назад.

And he put the handmaids and their children in front, and Leah and her children next, and Rachel and Joseph last.

3 А сам той замина пред тях и поклони се до земята седем пъти, доде да стигне при брата си.

And he passed over in front of them and bowed himself to the ground seven times until he came near to his brother.

4 И Исав се затече да го посрещне, прегърна го, падна на врата му и го целуна; и те заплакаха.

And Esau ran to meet him and embraced him and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept.

5 И като подигна очи и видя жените и децата, рече: Какви ти са тия? И той рече: <Те са> децата, които Бог подари на слугата ти.

¶ And he lifted up his eyes and saw the women and the children and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children whom God hath graciously given thy slave.

6 Т огава пристъпиха слугините и децата им и се поклониха.

Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.

7 Т ака пристъпиха и Лия и децата й и се поклониха; а после пристъпиха Иосиф и Рахил и се поклониха.

And Leah also with her children came near and bowed themselves; and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they also bowed themselves.

8 Т огава рече <Исав>: За какво ти е тая цяла дружина, която срещнах? А той каза: За да придобия благоволението на господаря си.

And he said, What meanest thou by all these droves which I met? And he said, To find grace in the sight of my lord.

9 А Исав рече: Имам доволно, брате мой; ти задръж своите си.

And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep what thou hast unto thyself.

10 Н о Яков отвърна: Не, моля ти се, ако съм придобил твоето благоволение, приеми подаръка ми от ръцете ми, тъй като видях лицето ти, като че видях Божие лице, понеже ти беше благосклонен към мене.

And Jacob said, No, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present from my hand, that for this I have seen thy face as though I had seen the face of God; and do me the pleasure.

11 П риеми, моля, подаръка ми {Еврейски: благословението ми.}, който ти е принесен; защото Бог е постъпил благо към мене, та имам всичко. И като настояваше, той го прие.

Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee because God has dealt graciously with me, and all that is here is mine. And he urged him, and he took it.

12 Т огава рече <Исав>: Да тръгнем и да вървим, и аз ще вървя пред тебе.

And he said, Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee.

13 Н о <Яков> му каза: Господарят ми знае, че децата ми са нежни, и че имам със себе си дойни овци и говеда; и ако ги пресилят само един ден, цялото стадо ще измре.

And he said unto him, My lord knows that the children are tender, and the sheep and cows with young are with me; and if men should overdrive them, in one day all the sheep will die.

14 Г осподарят ми нека замине, моля, пред слугата си; и аз ще карам полека според вървежа на добитъка, който е пред мене, и според вървежа на децата, доде стигна при господаря си в Сиир.

Let my lord, I pray thee, pass before his slave; and I will lead on softly, according as the property that goes before me and the children are able to endure until I come unto my lord unto Seir.

15 А Исав рече: <Поне> да оставя с тебе неколцина от хората, които са с мене. Но той каза: Каква нужда? <Стига> да придобия благоволението на господаря си.

And Esau said, Let me now leave with thee some of the folk that are with me. And he said, What for? Let me find grace in the sight of my lord.

16 И тъй, в същия ден, Исав се върна по пътя си за Сиир.

¶ So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir.

17 А Яков пътуваше в Сокхот, дето си построи къща и направи кошари за добитъка си; затова, мястото се именува Сокхот {Т.е., колиби, <или> кошари.}.

And Jacob journeyed to Succoth and built himself a house and made booths for his livestock; therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.

18 И като се върна от Падан-арам, Яков дойде в Сихемовия град Салим, който е в Ханаанската земя, и разположи се пред града.

And Jacob came safe and sound to the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padanaram, and pitched his tent before the city.

19 И от синовете на Емора, Сихемовия баща, купи за сто сребърника нивата, гдето разпъна шатрата си.

And he bought part of the field where he had spread his tent, from the hand of the sons of Hamor, Shechem’s father, for one hundred ewes.

20 Т ам издигна олтар; и го наименува Ел-елое-Израил {Т.е., Бог, Израилевият Бог.}.

And there he erected an altar, and called it Elelohe-Israel (the Strong God of Israel).
