1 Т огава Господ прати Натана при Давида. И той като дойде при него, каза му: В един град имаше двама човека, единият богат, а другият сиромах.

¶ And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich and the other poor.

2 Б огатият имаше овци и говеда твърде много;

The rich man had exceeding many sheep and cows,

3 а сиромахът нямаше друго освен едно малко женско агне, което бе купил и което хранеше; и то бе пораснало заедно с него и чадата му, от залъка му ядеше, от чашата му пиеше, и на пазухата му лежеше; и то му беше като дъщеря.

but the poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up, and it grew up together with him and with his children; it ate of his own food and drank of his own cup and lay in his bosom and was unto him as a daughter.

4 И един пътник дойде у богатия; и нему се посвидя да вземе от своите овци и от своите говеда да сготви за пътника, който бе дошъл у него, но взе агнето на сиромаха та го сготви за човека, който бе дошъл у него.

And a traveller came unto the rich man, who did not wish to take of his own sheep and of his own cows to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him, but took the poor man’s lamb and dressed it for the man that had come to him.

5 Т огава гневът на Давида пламна силно против тоя човек; и той каза на Натана: В името на живия Господ, човекът, който е сторил това, заслужава смърт;

And David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man, and he said to Nathan, As the LORD lives, the man that has done this thing is worthy of death,

6 и ще плати за агнето четверократно, понеже е сторил това дело, и понеже не се е смилил.

and he shall pay for the lamb fourfold because he did this thing and because he had no pity.

7 Т огава Натан каза на Давида: Ти си тоя човек. Така казва Господ Израилевият Бог: Аз те помазах за цар над Израиля, и те избавих от Сауловата ръка;

Then Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus hath said the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul,

8 и дадох ти дома на господаря ти, и жените на господаря ти в пазухата ти, и дадох ти Израилевия и Юдовия дом; и ако това беше малко, приложил бих ти това и това.

and I gave thee thy master’s house and thy master’s wives into thy bosom and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah, and if that is too little, I shall add unto thee such and such things.

9 З ащо презря ти словото на Господа, та стори зло пред очите Му? Ти порази с меч хетееца Урия, и си взе за жена неговата жена, а него ти уби с меча на амонците.

Why, therefore, hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? Thou hast killed Uriah, the Hittite, with the sword and hast taken his wife to be thy wife and hast slain him with the sword of the sons of Ammon.

10 С ега, прочее, няма никога да се оттегли меч от дома ти, понеже ти Ме презря, та взе жената на хетееца Урия, за да ти бъде жена.

Now, therefore, the sword shall never depart from thy house because thou hast despised me and hast taken the wife of Uriah, the Hittite, to be thy wife.

11 Т ака казва Господ: Ето, отсред твоя дом ще подигна против тебе злини, и ще взема жените ти пред очите ти, та ще ги дам на ближния ти; и той ще лежи с жените ти пред това слънце.

Thus hath the LORD said, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thy own house, and I will take thy wives before thy eyes and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.

12 З ащото ти си извършил това тайно; но Аз ще извърша туй нещо пред целия Израил и пред слънцето.

For thou hast done it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel and before the sun.

13 Т огава Давид каза на Натана: Съгреших Господу. А Натан каза на Давида: И Господ отстрани греха ти; няма да умреш.

Then David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also has taken away thy sin; thou shalt not die.

14 Н о понеже чрез това дело ти си дал голяма причина на Господните врагове да хулят, затова детето което ти се е родило, непременно ще умре.

However, because by this deed, thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme; the son that is born unto thee shall surely die.

15 И Натан си отиде у дома си. А Господ порази детето, което Уриевата жена роди на Давида, и то се разболя.

¶ And Nathan departed unto his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah’s wife had given birth unto David, and it was very sick.

16 Д авид, прочее, се моли Богу за детето; и Давид пости, па влезе та пренощува легнал на земята.

David, therefore, besought God for the child, and David fasted and went in and lay all night upon the earth.

17 И старейшините на дома му станаха <и дойдоха> при него, за да го дигнат от земята; но той отказа, нито вкуси хляб с тях.

And the elders of his house arose and went to him to raise him up from the earth, but he would not, neither did he eat bread with them.

18 И на седмия ден детето умря. И слугите на Давида се бояха да му явят, че детето бе умряло, защото думаха: Ето, докато детето бе още живо говорехме му, и той не слушаше думите ни; колко, прочее, ще се измъчва, ако му кажем, че детето е умряло!

And it came to pass on the seventh day that the child died. And the slaves of David feared to tell him that the child was dead, for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spoke unto him, and he would not hearken unto our voice; how much more will it trouble him if we tell him that the child is dead?

19 Н о Давид, като видя че слугите му шепнеха помежду си, разбра, че бе умряло детето; затова Давид каза на слугите си: Умря ли детето? А те рекоха: Умря.

But when David saw that his slaves whispered, David understood that the child was dead; therefore, David said unto his slaves, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead.

20 Т огава Давид стана от земята, уми се и се помаза, и като промени дрехите си, влезе в Господния дом та се поклони. После дойде у дома си; и, понеже поиска, сложиха пред него хляб, и той яде.

Then David arose from the earth and washed and anointed himself and changed his clothes and came into the house of the LORD and worshipped. Then he came to his own house; and when he asked, they set bread before him, and he ate.

21 А слугите му му казаха: Що е това, което ти стори? Ти пости и плака за детето, докато беше живо; а като умря детето, ти стана и яде хляб!

Then his slaves said unto him, What is this that thou hast done? Thou didst fast and weep for the child while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread.

22 А той рече: Докато детето беше още живо, постих и плаках, защото си рекох: Кой знае? може Бог да ми покаже милост, и детето да остане живо.

And he replied, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept, for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will have mercy on me, that the child may live?

23 Н о сега то умря. Защо да постя? Мога ли да го върна надире? Аз ще ида при него, а то няма да се върне при мене.

But now that he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.

24 С лед това, Давид утеши жена си Витсавее, и влезе при нея та лежа с нея; и тя роди син, и нарече го Соломон. И Господ го възлюби,

And David comforted Bathsheba, his wife, and went in unto her and lay with her; and she gave birth to a son, and he called his name Solomon; and the LORD loved him.

25 и прати чрез пророка Натана та го нарече Едидия {Т.е., Любезен Господу.}, заради Господа.

And he sent by the hand of Nathan, the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, by the LORD.

26 А Иоав воюва против Рава на амонците и превзе царския град.

¶ And Joab fought against Rabbah, of the sons of Ammon, and took the royal city.

27 И Иоав прати вестители до Давида, да кажат: Воювах против Рава, и даже превзех града на водите.

Then Joab sent messengers to David and said, I have fought against Rabbah and have taken the city of waters.

28 С ега, прочее, събери останалите люде та разположи стана си против града и завладей го, да не би аз да завладея града, и той да се нарече с моето име.

Now, therefore, gather the rest of the people together and encamp against the city and take it lest I take the city, and it be called after my name.

29 З атова Давид събра всичките люде та отиде в Рава, би се против нея, и я завладя.

And David gathered all the people together and went to Rabbah and fought against it and took it.

30 И взе от главата на царя им короната му, която тежеше един златен талант, и бе украсена със скъпоценни камъни; и положиха я на главата на Давида. И той изнесе из града твърде много користи.

And he took their king’s crown from off his head, the weight of which was a talent of gold with the precious stones, and it was set on David’s head. And he brought forth the spoil of the city in great abundance.

31 И зведе и людете, които бяха в него, та ги тури под триони и под железни дикани и под железни брадви, и преведе ги през пещта за тухли; и така постъпи с всички градове на амонците. Тогава Давид се върна с всичките люде в Ерусалим.

And he brought forth the people that were therein and put them under saws and under harrows of iron and under axes of iron and made them pass through the brickkiln, and thus did he unto all the cities of the sons of Ammon. So David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.
