1 Н о на измъчената <земя> не <ще има> мрак Както в предишните времена, Когато Той унижи земята Завулон и земята Нефталим; Но в послешните времена ще я направи славна- <Нея, която> по пътя към езерото {Т.е., Галилейското. <Еврейски>: Морето.}, оттатък Иордан, Галилея на народите.

¶ Nevertheless this darkness shall not be the same as the affliction that came upon her when they lightly touched the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, nor afterward when they more grievously afflicted her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the Gentiles.

2 Л юдете, които ходеха в тъмнина, видяха голяма светлина; На ония, които седяха в земя на мрачна {Еврейски: Смъртта.} сянка Изгря им светлина.

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; those that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them has the light shined.

3 У множил си народа, Увеличил си радостта му; Радват се пред Тебе както се радват във <време на> жетва, Както се радват, когато делят користи.

As thou hast multiplied the nation, thou hast not increased the joy. They shall rejoice before thee as they rejoice in the harvest and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.

4 З ащото Ти си строшил, както в деня на Мадиама, Тежкия им хомот, тоягата за плещите им, <И> бичът на угнетителя им.

For thou hast broken his heavy yoke and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.

5 З ащото всяка чизма на обутия ратник в шума, И облеклата валяни в кръв, Ще бъдат за изгаряне <и> гориво за огън.

For every battle of him who fights is with shaking of the earth and the rolling of garments in blood; but this shall be with burning and consuming of fire.

6 З ащото ни се роди Дете, Син ни се даде; И управлението ще бъде на рамото Му; И името Му ще бъде: Чудесен, Съветник, Бог могъщ, Отец на вечността, Княз на мира.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government is placed upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called The Wonderful One, The Counsellor, The God, The Mighty One, The Eternal Father, The Prince of Peace.

7 У правлението Му и мирът непрестанно ще се увеличават На Давидовия престол и на неговото царство, За да го утвърди и поддържа, Чрез правосъдие и чрез правда, от сега и до века. Ревността на Господа на Силите ще извърши това.

The multitude of his dominion and the peace shall have no end upon the throne of David and upon his Kingdom, ordering it and confirming it in judgment and in righteousness from now on even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of the hosts will perform this.

8 Г оспод изпрати слово на Якова; И то свърхлетя <и> върху Израиля.

¶ The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it has lighted upon Israel.

9 И всичките люде ще <го> познаят, Дори Ефрем и жителите на Самария, Които гордо и с надменно сърце казват:

And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in pride and arrogance of heart,

10 К ирпичите паднаха, но ние ще съзидаме с дялани камъни; Черниците се изсякоха, но ще <ги> заменим с кедри.

The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones; the wild fig trees are cut down, but we will put cedars in their place.

11 З атова Господ ще подигне отгоре му ония, които се противиха против Расина, И ще възбуди неприятелите му, -

Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him and join his enemies together,

12 С ирийците отпред, и филистимците отдире, - И те ще изядат Израиля с отворени уста. При все това, гневът Му не се отвърна, Но ръката Му е още простряна.

the Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

13 Н о пак людете не се връщат към Този, Който ги поразява, Нито търсят Господа на Силите.

But the people did not turn unto him that smote them, neither did they seek the LORD of the hosts.

14 З атова Господ ще отсече от Израиля в един ден И глава и опашка, палмов клон и тръстика.

Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.

15 ( Старецът и почтеният <мъж>, той е глава; А пророкът, който поучава лъжи, той е опашка).

The ancient and venerable to look upon is the head; the prophet that teaches lies, he is the tail.

16 З ащото водителите на тия люде ги заблуждават, И водените от тях загиват.

For the governors of this people are deceivers, and those who are governed by them are lost.

17 З атова Господ не ще се зарадва за юношите им, Нито ще се смили за сирачетата и вдовиците им; Понеже те всички са нечестиви и злодейци, И всички уста говорят безумие. При все това, гневът Му не се отвърна, Но ръката Му е още простряна.

Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall he have mercy on their fatherless and widows, for every one is a hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

18 З ащото беззаконието изгаря като огън, Който пояжда глоговете и тръните; Да! Той пламти в горските гъсталаци, И те се издигат като тежки облаци дим.

For wickedness burns as the fire, it shall devour the briers and thorns and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.

19 О т гнева на Господа на Силите земята изгоря. И людете ще бъдат като гориво за огън; Никой не жали брата си.

Through the wrath of the LORD of the hosts the land is darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire; no man shall spare his brother.

20 Ч овек ще граби отдясно, но ще <остане> гладен; И ще яде наляво, но не ще се насити! Всеки от тях ще яде месата на своята мишца, -

And he shall snatch on the right hand and be hungry, and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied; they shall eat each man the flesh of his own arm:

21 М анасия Ефрема, и Ефрем Манасия, И те заедно ще бъдат против Юда. При все това, гневът Му не се отвърна, Но ръката Му е още простряна.

Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh; and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
