1 С лед тия събития, като се укроти яростта на цар Асуира, той си спомни за Астин, и за онова що бе сторила, и за какво бе решено против нея.

¶ After these things, when the wrath of King Ahasuerus was appeased, he remembered Vashti and what she had done and what was decreed against her.

2 Т огава слугите, които слугуваха на царя, рекоха: Нека се потърсят за царя красиви млади девици;

Then the king’s servants that ministered unto him said, Let there be fair young virgins sought for the king,

3 и нека назначи царят чиновници по всичките области на царството си, които да съберат в столицата Суса, в женската къща, всичките красиви млади девици, под надзора на царския скопец Игай, пазач на жените; и нека им се дадат нещата, които им са потребни за приглаждане.

and let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom that they may gather together all the fair young virgins unto Shushan, the palace, to the house of the women, unto the custody of Hege, the king’s eunuch, keeper of the women; and let them be given that which is necessary for their purification;

4 И девицата, която се хареса на царя, нека стане царица вместо Астин. И това биде угодно на царя; и той стори така.

and let the maiden which pleases the king be queen instead of Vashti. And the thing pleased the king, and he did so.

5 И маше в столицата Суса един юдеин на име Мардохей, син на Яира, син на Семея, син на Киса, вениаминец,

Now in Shushan, the palace, there was a certain Jew, whose name was Mordecai, the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite;

6 к ойто беше откаран от Ерусалим с пленниците, които бяха откарани с Юдовия цар Ехония, които вавилонският цар Навуходоносор беше откарал.

who had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captivity which had been carried away with Jeconiah, king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, had carried away.

7 И той отхранваше Адаса (която е Естир), чичовата си дъщеря, защото тя нямаше ни баща ни майка. Момичето беше прилично и красиво; и когато баща му и майка му умряха, Мардохей го взе за своя дъщеря.

And he had brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle’s daughter; for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; and as her father and mother were dead, Mordecai had taken her for his own daughter.

8 И тъй, когато се разчу заповедта и указа на царя, и когато бяха събрани много момичета в столицата Суса, под надзора на Игая, доведоха и Естир в царската къща, под надзора на Игая, пазача на жените.

So it came to pass, when the king’s commandment and his decree was heard and when many maidens were gathered together unto Shushan, the palace, to the custody of Hegai, that Esther was brought also unto the king’s house to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.

9 И момичето му се хареса и придоби неговото благоволение; и той побърза да й даде от царската къща нещата потребни за приглаждането й, както и нейния дял, също и седемте момичета, които подобаваше да й се дадат; и премести нея и момичетата й в най-доброто помещение на женската къща.

And the maiden pleased him, and she found mercy before him; and he speedily gave her that which was necessary for purification and her rations, and seven maidens, which were meet to be given her out of the king’s house; and he moved her and her maids into the best place of the house of the women.

10 Е стир не беше изявила людете си, нито рода си; защото Мардохей беше й заръчал да не го изявява.

Esther had not declared her people nor her birth, for Mordecai had charged her that she should not declare it.

11 И Мардохей ходеше всеки ден пред двора на женската къща, за да се научава как е Естир и какво ще стане с нея.

And Mordecai walked every day before the court of the women’s house to know the peace of Esther and what was done with her.

12 А когато дойдеше реда на всяка девица да влезе при цар Асуира, след като беше стояла дванадесет месеца <в женската къща>, според нареденото за жените, (защото така се употребяваше времето на приглаждането им, шест месеца <се мажеха> със смирнено масло, и шест месеца с аромати и с <други> неща за приглаждане на жените),

Now when each maid’s turn was come to go in to King Ahasuerus, after she had been twelve months according to the law regarding the women (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, that is, six months with oil of myrrh and six months with aromatic odours and oils for women),

13 т огава така <приготвена>, девицата влизаше при царя; всичко каквото поискаше даваше й се, да го занесе със себе си от женската къща в къщата на царя.

then thus came each maiden unto the king; whatever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king’s house.

14 В ечер влизаше, а заран се връщаше във втората женска къща под надзора на Саасгаза, царския скопец, който пазеше наложниците; тя не влизаше вече при царя, освен ако царят я поискаше, и бъдеше повикана по име.

In the evening she went, and on the morrow she returned into the second house of the women, to the custody of Shaashgaz, the king’s eunuch, who kept the concubines; she came in unto the king no more, unless the king delighted in her and called for her by name.

15 А когато дойде редът да влезе при царя Естир, дъщеря на Авихаила, чичо на Мардохея, която той беше взел за своя дъщеря, тя не поиска друго освен каквото определи царският скопец Игай, пазача на жените. И Естир придобиваше благоволението на всички, които я гледаха.

Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail, the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai, the king’s eunuch, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained grace in the sight of all those that looked upon her.

16 И тъй, Естир биде заведена при цар Асуира в царския му дом в десетия месец, който е месец Тевет, в седмата година от царуването му.

So Esther was taken unto King Ahasuerus into his royal house in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.

17 И царят възлюби Естир повече от всичките жени; и тя придоби неговото благоволение и милост повече от всичките девици; и той тури царската корона на главата й, и направи я царица вместо Астин.

And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and mercy in his sight more than did all the other virgins so that he set the crown of the kingdom upon her head and made her queen instead of Vashti.

18 Т огава царят направи голямо угощение на всичките си първенци и на слугите си, угощение <в чест> на Естир; и определи <деня> за празник на областите, и даде подаръци, както подобаваше на царя.

Then the king made a great banquet unto all his princes and his slaves, the banquet of Esther; and he made a release to the provinces of their taxes and gave gifts according to the power of the king.

19 И когато се събраха девиците втори път, тогава Мардохей седеше в царската порта.

And when the virgins were gathered together the second time, then Mordecai sat in the king’s gate.

20 Е стир не бе изявила рода си, нито людете си, както й беше заръчал Мардохей; защото Естир изпълняваше заповедта на Мардохея както, когато беше в неговия дом {Еврейски: На храна при него.}.

Esther had not yet declared her birth nor her people; as Mordecai had charged her; for Esther did the commandment of Mordecai as when she was being brought up with him.

21 В тия дни, когато Мардохей седеше в царската порта, двама от царските скопци, Вихтан и Терес, от ония, които пазеха входа, се разгневиха, и поискаха да турят ръка върху цар Асуира.

¶ In those days, while Mordecai sat in the king’s gate, two of the king’s eunuchs, Bigthan and Teresh, of those which kept the door, were wroth and sought to lay hand on King Ahasuerus.

22 А това стана известно на Мардохея, и той го обади на царица Естир; а Естир обади на царя в името на Мардохея.

And the thing was known by Mordecai, who told it unto Esther, the queen; and Esther notified the king of this in Mordecai’s name.

23 И като се изследва работата и се намери, че беше така, и двамата бидоха обесени на дърво; и <събитието> се записа в книгата на летописите пред царя.

And when inquisition was made of the matter, it was found out; therefore, they were both hanged on a tree; and it was written in the book of the chronicles before the king.
