1 В ижте каква любов е дал нам Отец, да се наречем Божии чада; а <такива> и сме. Затова светът не познава нас, защото Него не позна.

¶ Behold, what charity the Father has given us, that we should be called the sons of God; therefore the world does not know us, because it does not know him.

2 В ъзлюбени, сега сме Божии чада, и още не е станало явно какво ще бъдем; но знаем, че когато стане явно, ще бъдем подобни Нему, защото ще Го видим както е.

Beloved, now we are the sons of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be; but we know that if he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

3 И всеки, който има тая надежда на Него, очиства себе си, както е Той чист.

And every one that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure.

4 В секи, който върши грях, върши и беззаконие, защото грехът е беззаконие;

¶ Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

5 и знаете, че Той се яви да носи греховете. В Него няма грях.

And ye know that he appeared to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him.

6 Н икой, който пребъдва в Него, не съгрешава; никой, който съгрешава, не Го е видял, нито Го е познал.

Whosoever abides in him does not sin: whosoever sins has not seen him or known him.

7 Д ечица, никой да не ви заблуждава: който върши правда, праведен е, както и <Христос> е праведен.

Little children, let no one deceive you; he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he also is righteous.

8 К ойто върши грях, от дявола е; защото дяволът отначало съгрешава. Затова се яви Божият Син, да съсипе делата на дявола.

He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God appeared, that he might undo the works of the devil.

9 Н икой, който е роден от Бога, не върши грях, защото неговият зародиш пребъдва в Него; и не може да съгрешава, защото е роден от Бога.

Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

10 П о това се разпознават Божиите чада и дяволските чада; никой, който не върши правда, не е от Бога, нито оня, който не люби брата си.

In this the sons of God are manifest, and the sons of the devil: whosoever does not righteousness and that loves not his brother is not of God.

11 З ащото поръчката, която чухте от начало, е това: да любим един другиго;

¶ For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, That we should love one another.

12 & lt;и да не бъдем> както Каин, <който> беше от лукавия и уби брата си. И защо го уби? Защото неговите дела бяха нечестиви, а братовите му правдиви.

Not as Cain, who was of the wicked one and killed his brother. And why did he kill him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.

13 Н едейте се чуди, братя, ако светът ви мрази.

Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hates you.

14 Н ие знаем, че сме преминали от смърт в живот, защото любим братята. Който не люби, остава в смърт.

¶ We know that we are passed from death unto life, in that we love the brethren. He that does not love his brother abides in death.

15 В секи, който мрази брата си, е човекоубиец; и вие знаете, че в никой човекоубиец не пребъдва вечен живот.

Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer and ye know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

16 О т това познаваме любовта, че Той даде живота Си за нас. Така и ние сме длъжни да дадем живота си за братята,

In this we have known the charity of God because he laid down his life for us; we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

17 Н о ако някой, който има световните блага, вижда брата си в нужда, а заключи сърцето си от него, как ще пребъдва в него любов към Бога?

But whosoever has this world’s goods and sees his brother have need and shuts up his bowels of compassion from him, how does the charity of God abide in him?

18 Д ечица, да не любим с думи нито с език, но с дело и в действителност.

My little children, let us not love in word neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

19 О т това ще познаем, че сме от истината, и ще уверим сърцето си пред Него,

And in this we know that we are of the truth and have our hearts certified before him.

20 о тносно всичко, в което нашето сърце ни осъжда; защото Бог е по-голям от сърцето ни и знае всичко.

¶ And if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart and knows all things.

21 В ъзлюбени, ако нашето сърце не ни осъжда, имаме дръзновение спрямо Бога:

Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, then we have confidence in God;

22 и каквото и да поискаме, получаваме от Него, защото пазим заповедите Му и вършим това що е угодно пред Него.

and whatsoever we ask, we receive of him because we keep his commandments and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

23 И Неговата заповед е това: да вярваме в името на Сина Му Исуса Христа, и да любим един другиго, както ни е заповядал.

¶ And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he has commanded us.

24 И който пази неговите заповеди, пребъдва в <Бога> и <Бог> в него: и по това познаваме, че той пребъдва в нас, по Духа, който ни е дал.

And he that keeps his commandments dwells in him, and he in him. And in this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit which he has given us.
