1 ¶ Hearken, ye sons, unto the chastening of the father, and pay attention that ye might know understanding.

Послушайте, чада, бащина поука, И внимавайте да научите разум.

2 F or I give you good doctrine; do not forsake my law.

Понеже ви давам добро учение, Не оставяйте наставлението ми.

3 F or I was my father’s son, tender and unique in the sight of my mother.

Защото и аз бях син на баща си, Гален и безподобен на майка си,

4 H e taught me and said unto me, Sustain thine heart with my words; keep my commandments, and live.

И той ме наставляваше и ми казваше: Нека държи сърцето ти думите ми, Пази заповедите ми и ще живееш,

5 G et wisdom, get understanding; forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

Придобий мъдрост, придобий разум; Не забравяй, нито се отклонявай от думите на устата ми.

6 F orsake her not, and she shall preserve thee; love her, and she shall keep thee.

Не я оставяй и тя ще те пази. Обичай я - и ще те варди.

7 W isdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

Главното е мъдрост; <затова> придобивай мъдрост, И при всичко, що си придобил, придобивай разум.

8 G row in wisdom, and she shall promote thee; she shall bring thee to honour when thou hast embraced her.

Въздигай я и тя ще те въздигне, Когато я прегърнеш, ще ти докара слава.

9 S he shall give to thine head an increase of grace; a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

Ще положи на главата ти красив венец. Ще ти даде славна корона

10 H ear, O my son, and receive my words, and the years of thy life shall be multiplied.

Слушай, сине мой, и приеми думите ми, И годините на живота ти ще се умножат.

11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have caused thee to walk in right paths.

Наставлявал съм те в пътя на мъдростта, Водил съм те по прави пътеки.

12 W hen thou goest in these paths, thy steps shall not be hindered; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

Когато ходиш стъпките ти не ще бъдат стеснени; И когато тичаш, няма да се спънеш.

13 T ake fast hold of chastening; do not let go; keep this; for it is thy life.

Хвани се здраво за поуката, недей я оставя; Пази я, понеже тя е животът ти.

14 ¶ Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

Не влизай в пътеката на нечестивите, И не ходи по пътя на лошите.

15 A void it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.

Отбягвай от него, не минавай край него. Отклони се от него и замини.

16 F or they do not sleep, unless they have done evil; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause someone to fall.

Защото те не заспиват, ако не сторят зло, И сън ги не хваща, ако не спънат някого.

17 F or they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

Понеже ядат хляб на нечестие, И пият вино на насилство.

18 B ut the path of the just is as the light of the morning star, that shines more and more until the day is perfect.

Но пътя на праведните е като виделото на разсъмване, Което се развиделява, догдето стане съвършен ден.

19 T he way of the wicked is as darkness; they do not know in what they stumble.

Пътят на нечестивите е като тъмнина; Не знаят от що се спъват.

20 ¶ My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my words.

Сине мой, внимавай на думите ми, Приклони ухото си към беседите ми.

21 L et them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

Да се не отдалечат от очите ти. Пази ги дълбоко в сърцето си;

22 F or they are life unto those that find them and medicine to all their flesh.

Защото те са живот за тия, които ги намират, И здраве за цялата им снага.

23 A bove all else, guard thy heart; for out of it flows the issues of life.

Повече от всичко друго що пазиш, пази сърцето си, Защото от него са изворите на живота.

24 P ut away from thee the perversion of the mouth, and the deviation of the lips put far from thee.

Отмахни от себе си опърничави уста, И отдалечи от себе си развратени устни.

25 L et thine eyes look upon that which is right, and let thine eyelids straighten thy path before thee.

Очите ти нека гледат право напред, И клепачите ти нека бъдат оправени право пред тебе.

26 P onder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

Обмисляй внимателно пътеката на нозете си, И всичките ти пътища нека бъдат добре уредени.

27 T urn not to the right hand nor to the left; remove thy foot from evil.

Не се отбивай ни на дясно ни на ляво; Отклони ногата си от зло.
