1 ¶ And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done and of how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.

И Ахаав съобщи на Езавел всичко, що бе сторил Илия, и как бе избил с меч всичките пророци.

2 T hen Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if by tomorrow at this time I have not made thy person as one of them.

Тогава Езавел прати човек до Илия да каже: Така да ми направят боговете, да! и повече да притурят, ако утре, около тоя час, не направя твоя живот както живота на един от тях.

3 A nd when he saw that, he arose and departed to save his life and came to Beersheba, which is in Judah, and left his servant there.

А като видя това {Или: А Илия се убоя и.}, <Илия> стана и отиде за живота си, и като дойде във Вирсавее Юдово, остави слугата си там.

4 B ut he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a juniper tree; and desiring to die, he said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life, for I am not better than my fathers.

А сам той отиде на еднодневен път в пустинята, и дойде та седна под една смрика; и поиска за себе си да умре, казвайки: Доволно е, сега, Господи, вземи душата ми, защото не съм по-добър от бащите си.

5 A nd as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him and said unto him, Arise and eat.

Тогава легна и заспа под смриката; после, ето, ангел се допря до него и му рече: Стани, яж.

6 T hen he looked and behold, there was a cake baked on the coals and a cruse of water at his head. And he ate and drank and went back to sleep.

И погледна, и ето при главата му пита печена на жаравата и стомна с вода. И яде и пи, и пак легна.

7 A nd the angel of the LORD came again the second time and touched him and said, Arise and eat, for there is a great journey before thee.

А ангелът Господен дойде втори път та се допря до него, и рече: Стани, яж, защото пътят е много дълъг за тебе.

8 A nd he arose and ate and drank and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights unto Horeb, the mount of God.

И той стана та яде и пи, и със силата от онова ястие пътува четиридесет дена и четиридесет нощи до Божията планина Хорив.

9 ¶ And there he went into a cave, where he lodged; and the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?

И там влезе в една пещера, гдето се засели; и ето, Господното слово дойде към него та му рече: Що правиш тук, Илие?

10 A nd he replied, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of the hosts, for the sons of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left, and they seek me to take my life.

А той каза: Аз съм бил много ревнив за Господа Бога на Силите; защото израилтяните оставиха завета Ти, събориха олтарите Ти и избиха с меч пророците Ти; само аз останах, но и моя живот искат да отнемат.

11 A nd he said, Go forth and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake.

И <словото му> каза: Излез та застани на планината пред Господа. И, ето, Господ минаваше и голям силен вятър цепеше бърдата и сломяваше скалите пред Господа, но Господ не бе във вятъра; а подир вятъра земетръс, но Господ не бе в земетръса;

12 A nd after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire, a still small voice,

И подир земетръса огън, но Господ не бе в огъня; а подир огъня тих и тънък глас.

13 W hich when Elijah heard it, he covered his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the door of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, saying, What doest thou here, Elijah?

И Илия, като го чу, покри лицето си с кожуха си, излезе и застана при входа на пещерата. И, ето, глас дойде към него, който рече: Що правиш тук, Илие?

14 A nd he replied, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of the hosts because the sons of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left, and they seek me to take my life.

И той каза: Аз съм бил много ревнив за Господа Бога на Силите; защото израилтяните оставиха завета Ти, събориха олтарите Ти, и избиха с меч пророците Ти; само аз останах но и моя живот искат да отнемат.

15 A nd the LORD said unto him, Go, return on thy way by the wilderness of Damascus; and thou shalt arrive there and anoint Hazael to be king over Syria;

Но Господ му рече: Иди, върни се по пътя си през пустинята в Дамаск, и когато пристигнеш, помажи Азаила за цар над Сирия;

16 a nd Jehu, the son of Nimshi, thou shalt anoint to be king over Israel; and Elisha, the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah, thou shalt anoint to be prophet in thy place.

а Ииуя Намесиевия син помажи за цар над Израиля; и Елисея Сафатовия син, от Авелмеола, помажи за пророк вместо тебе.

17 A nd it shall be that he that escapes the sword of Hazael, Jehu shall slay; and he that escapes from the sword of Jehu, Elisha shall slay.

И ще стане, че който се избави от Азаиловия меч него Ииуй ще убие; и който се избави от Ииуевия меч, него Елисей ще убие.

18 A nd I will cause seven thousand to remain in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which has not kissed him.

Оставил съм Си, обаче, в Израиля седем хиляди души, всички ония, които не са преклонили колена пред Ваала, и всички, чиито уста не са го целунали.

19 ¶ So he departed from there and found Elisha, the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth. And Elijah passed by him and cast his mantle upon him.

И тъй, <Илия> тръгна от там и намери Елисея Сафатовия син, който ореше с дванадесет двойки <волове> пред себе си; и сам бе с дванадесетата; и Илия мина към него и хвърли кожуха си върху него.

20 S o he left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again, for what have I done to thee?

А той остави воловете та се завтече подир Илия и рече: Нека целуна, моля, баща си и майка си, и тогава ще те последвам. <А Илия> му каза: Иди, върни се, защото какво съм ти сторил?

21 A nd he returned back from him and took a yoke of oxen and slew them and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen and gave unto the people and they ate. Then he arose and went after Elijah and served him.

И той се върна отподире му, та взе двойката волове и ги закла, а с приборите на воловете опече месото им, и даде на людете, та ядоха. Тогава стана та последва Илия, и му слугуваше.
