1 И прибыл Ровоам в Иерусалим и созвал из дома Иудина и Вениаминова сто восемьдесят тысяч отборных воинов, чтобы воевать с Израилем и возвратить царство Ровоаму.

¶ And when Rehoboam came to Jerusalem, he gathered of the house of Judah and Benjamin one hundred and eighty thousand chosen men, who were warriors, to fight against Israel, that he might bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.

2 И было слово Господне к Самею, человеку Божию, и сказано:

But the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, the man of God, saying,

3 с кажи Ровоаму, сыну Соломонову, царю Иудейскому, и всему Израилю в Иудином и Вениаминовом:

Speak unto Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,

4 т ак говорит Господь: не ходите и не начинайте войны с братьями вашими; возвратитесь каждый в дом свой, ибо Мною сделано это. Они послушались слов Господних и возвратились из похода против Иеровоама.

Thus hath the LORD said, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren; return each man to his house; for this thing is done of me. And they heard the word of the LORD and returned and did not go against Jeroboam.

5 Р овоам жил в Иерусалиме; он обнес города в Иудее стенами.

And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem and built cities for defence in Judah.

6 О н укрепил Вифлеем и Ефам, и Фекою,

He built Bethlehem and Etam and Tekoa

7 и Вефцур, и Сохо, и Одоллам,

and Bethzur and Shoco and Adullam

8 и Геф, и Марешу, и Зиф,

and Gath and Mareshah and Ziph

9 и Адораим, и Лахис, и Азеку,

and Adoraim and Lachish and Azekah

10 и Цору, и Аиалон, и Хеврон, находившиеся в колене Иудином и Вениаминовом.

and Zorah and Aijalon and Hebron which are in Judah and in Benjamin, fenced cities.

11 И утвердил он крепости сии, и устроил в них начальников и хранилища для хлеба и деревянного масла и вина.

And he fortified the strong holds, and put captains in them and provisions and wine and oil;

12 И в каждый город щиты и копья и утвердил их весьма сильно. И оставались за ним Иуда и Вениамин.

and in all the cities he put shields and spears. He fortified them greatly, having Judah and Benjamin on his side.

13 И священники и левиты, какие по всей земле Израильской, собрались к нему из всех пределов,

¶ And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel gathered unto him out of all their borders.

14 и бо оставили левиты свои городские предместья и свои владения и пришли в Иудею и в Иерусалим, так как оставил их Иеровоам и сыновья его от священства Господня

For the Levites left their suburbs and their possessions and came to Judah and Jerusalem, for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest’s office unto the LORD.

15 и поставил у себя жрецов к высотам, и к козлам, и к тельцам, которых он сделал.

And he ordained himself priests for the high places and for the demons and for the calves which he had made.

16 А за ними и из всех колен Израилевых расположившие сердце свое, чтобы взыскать Господа Бога Израилева, приходили в Иерусалим, дабы приносить жертвы Господу Богу отцов своих.

And from after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the LORD God of Israel came to Jerusalem to sacrifice unto the LORD God of their fathers.

17 И укрепили они царство Иудино и поддерживали Ровоама, сына Соломонова, три года, потому что ходили путем Давида и Соломона в сии три года.

So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah and made Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, strong for three years because they walked three years in the way of David and of Solomon.

18 И взял себе Ровоам в жену Махалафу, дочь Иеромофа, сына Давидова, и Авихаиль, дочь Елиава, сына Иессеева,

And Rehoboam took Mahalath, the daughter of Jerimoth, the son of David, to wife, and Abihail, the daughter of Eliab, the son of Jesse;

19 и она родила ему сыновей: Иеуса и Шемарию и Загама.

who bore him sons: Jeush and Shamariah and Zaham.

20 П осле нее он взял Мааху, дочь Авессалома, и она родила ему Авию и Аттая, и Зизу и Шеломифа.

And after her he took Maachah, the daughter of Absalom, who bore him Abijah and Attai and Ziza and Shelomith.

21 И любил Ровоам Мааху, дочь Авессалома, более всех жен и наложниц своих, ибо он имел восемнадцать жен и шестьдесят наложниц и родил двадцать восемь сыновей и шестьдесят дочерей.

But Rehoboam loved Maachah, the daughter of Absalom, above all his wives and his concubines (for he took eighteen wives and sixty concubines and begat twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.)

22 И поставил Ровоам Авию, сына Маахи, главою князем над братьями его, потому что воцарить его.

And Rehoboam made Abijah, the son of Maachah, as head and prince among his brethren, for he thought to make him king.

23 И действовал благоразумно, и разослал всех сыновей своих по всем землям Иуды и Вениамина во все укрепленные города, и дал им содержание большое и приискал много жен.

And he caused him to be instructed and dispersed of all his sons throughout all the lands of Judah and Benjamin, unto every fenced city; and he gave them provisions in abundance. And he desired many wives.
