1 О том, что было от начала, что мы слышали, что видели своими очами, что рассматривали и что осязали руки наши, о Слове жизни, --

¶ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life

2 и бо жизнь явилась, и мы видели и свидетельствуем, и возвещаем вам сию вечную жизнь, которая была у Отца и явилась нам, --

(for the life is manifested, and we also saw it and bear witness and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father and appeared unto us);

3 о том, что мы видели и слышали, возвещаем вам, чтобы и вы имели общение с нами: а наше общение--с Отцем и Сыном Его, Иисусом Христом.

that which we have seen and heard we declare unto you, that ye also may have communion with us; and truly our communion is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

4 И сие пишем вам, чтобы радость ваша была совершенна.

And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be fulfilled.

5 И вот благовестие, которое мы слышали от Него и возвещаем вам: Бог есть свет, и нет в Нем никакой тьмы.

¶ This then is the promise which we have heard of him and declare unto you, That God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

6 Е сли мы говорим, что имеем общение с Ним, а ходим во тьме, то мы лжем и не поступаем по истине;

If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth;

7 е сли же ходим во свете, подобно как Он во свете, то имеем общение друг с другом, и Кровь Иисуса Христа, Сына Его, очищает нас от всякого греха.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have communion with him in the midst of us, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son cleanses us from all sin.

8 Е сли говорим, что не имеем греха, --обманываем самих себя, и истины нет в нас.

¶ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and there is no truth in us.

9 Е сли исповедуем грехи наши, то Он, будучи верен и праведен, простит нам грехи наши и очистит нас от всякой неправды.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 Е сли говорим, что мы не согрешили, то представляем Его лживым, и слова Его нет в нас.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
