1 И обратились мы и отправились в пустыню к Чермному морю, как говорил мне Господь, и много времени ходили вокруг горы Сеира.

¶ Then we turned and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the LORD had said unto me; and we went around Mount Seir many days

2 И сказал мне Господь, говоря:

until the LORD spoke unto me, saying,

3 п олно вам ходить вокруг этой горы, обратитесь к северу;

Ye have gone around this mountain long enough; return unto the Aquilon.

4 и народу дай повеление и скажи: вы будете проходить пределы братьев ваших, сынов Исавовых, живущих на Сеире, и они убоятся вас; но остерегайтесь

And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the border of your brethren, the sons of Esau, who dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you; take care unto yourselves, therefore;

5 н ачинать с ними войну, ибо Я не дам вам земли их ни на стопу ноги, потому что гору Сеир Я дал во владение Исаву;

do not seek a fight with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth because I have given Mount Seir unto Esau for an inheritance.

6 п ищу покупайте у них за серебро и ешьте; и воду покупайте у них за серебро и пейте;

Ye shall buy food from them for money that ye may eat, and ye shall also buy water from them for money that ye may drink.

7 и бо Господь, Бог твой, благословил тебя во всяком деле рук твоих, покровительствовал во время путешествия твоего по великой пустыне сей; вот, сорок лет Господь, Бог твой, с тобою; ты ни в чем не терпел недостатка.

For the LORD thy God has blessed thee in all the works of thy hand; he knows thy walking through this great wilderness; these forty years the LORD thy God has been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.

8 И шли мы мимо братьев наших, сынов Исавовых, живущих на Сеире, путем равнины, от Елафа и Ецион-Гавера, и поворотили, и шли к пустыне Моава.

¶ And when we passed by our brethren, the sons of Esau, who dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plain from Elath and from Eziongaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.

9 И сказал мне Господь: не вступай во вражду с Моавом и не начинай с ними войны; ибо Я не дам тебе ничего от земли его во владение, потому что Ар отдал Я во владение сынам Лотовым;

And the LORD said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle; for I will not give thee of their land for a possession because I have given Ar unto the sons of Lot for an inheritance.

10 п режде жили там Эмимы, народ великий, многочисленный и высокий, как Енаковы,

(The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many and tall as the Anakims,

11 и они считались между Рефаимами, как Енаковы; Моавитяне же называют их Эмимами;

which also were accounted giants as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims.

12 а на Сеире жили прежде Хорреи; но сыны Исавовы прогнали их и истребили их от лица своего и поселились вместо их--так, как поступил Израиль с землею наследия своего, которую дал им Господь;

The Horims also dwelt in Seir before time, but the sons of Esau inherited from them, and they destroyed them from before them and dwelt in their stead as Israel did in the land of his possession, which the LORD gave unto them.)

13 и так встаньте и пройдите долину Заред. И прошли мы долину Заред.

Now rise up, said I, and pass the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.

14 С тех пор, как мы пошли в Кадес-Варни и как прошли долину Заред, тридцать восемь лет, и у нас перевелся из среды стана весь род ходящих на войну, как клялся им Господь;

And the days in which we came from Kadeshbarnea until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty-eight years until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the camp, as the LORD swore unto them.

15 д а и рука Господня была на них, чтоб истреблять их из среды стана, пока не вымерли.

For indeed the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from among the camp until they were consumed.

16 К огда же перевелись все ходящие на войну и вымерли из среды народа,

So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people

17 т огда сказал мне Господь, говоря:

that the LORD spoke unto me, saying,

18 т ы проходишь ныне мимо пределов Моава, мимо Ара,

Thou art to pass the border of Moab today unto Ar,

19 и приблизился к Аммонитянам; не вступай с ними во вражду, и не начинай с ними войны, ибо Я не дам тебе ничего от земли сынов Аммоновых во владение, потому что Я отдал ее во владение сынам Лотовым;

and when thou comest near over against the sons of Ammon, do not distress them nor meddle with them, for I will not give thee of the land of the sons of Ammon any possession because I have given it unto the sons of Lot for an inheritance.

20 и она считалась землею Рефаимов; прежде жили на ней Рефаимы; Аммонитяне же называют их Замзумимами;

(That also was accounted a land of giants; giants dwelt therein in another time, and the Ammonites called them Zamzummims,

21 н арод великий, многочисленный и высокий, как Енаковы, и истребил их Господь пред лицем их, и изгнали они их и поселились на месте их,

a people great and many and tall as the Anakims; whom the LORD destroyed before the Ammonites; and they inherited from them and dwelt in their stead,

22 к ак Он сделал для сынов Исавовых, живущих на Сеире, истребив пред лицем их Хорреев, и они изгнали их, и поселились на месте их, и до сего дня;

as he did to the sons of Esau who dwelt in Seir when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they inherited from them and dwelt in their stead even unto this day.

23 и Аввеев, живших в селениях до самой Газы, Кафторимы, исшедшие из Кафтора, истребили и поселились на месте их.

And the Avims who dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Gaza, the Caphtorims, who came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them and dwelt in their stead.)

24 В станьте, отправьтесь и перейдите поток Арнон; вот, Я предаю в руку твою Сигона, царя Есевонского, Аморреянина, и землю его; начинай овладевать ею, и веди с ним войну;

¶ Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass the river Arnon; behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon, the Amorite king of Heshbon, and his land; begin, take possession and contend with him in battle.

25 с сего дня Я начну распространять страх и ужас пред тобою на народы под всем небом; те, которые услышат о тебе, вострепещут и ужаснутся тебя.

This day I will begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the peoples that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear the report of thee, and shall tremble and be in anguish because of thee.

26 И послал я послов из пустыни Кедемоф к Сигону, царю Есевонскому, с словами мирными, чтобы сказать:

And I sent ambassadors out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon, king of Heshbon, with words of peace, saying,

27 п озволь пройти мне землею твоею; я пойду дорогою, не сойду ни направо, ни налево;

Let me pass through thy land; I will go along by the high way; I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left.

28 п ищу продавай мне за серебро, и я буду есть, и воду для питья давай мне за серебро, и я буду пить, только ногами моими пройду--

Thou shalt sell me food for money, that I may eat, and give me water for money, that I may drink; I will only pass through on my feet

29 т ак, как сделали мне сыны Исава, живущие на Сеире, и Моавитяне, живущие в Аре, доколе не перейду чрез Иордан в землю, которую Господь, Бог наш, дает нам.

(as the sons of Esau, who dwell in Seir, and the Moabites, who dwell in Ar, did unto me) until I shall pass the Jordan into the land which the LORD our God gives us.

30 Н о Сигон, царь Есевонский, не согласился позволить пройти нам через свою, потому что Господь, Бог твой, ожесточил дух его и сердце его сделал упорным, чтобы предать его в руку твою, как ныне.

But Sihon, king of Heshbon, would not let us pass by him, for the LORD thy God had hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate that he might deliver him into thy hand as until this day.

31 И сказал мне Господь: вот, Я начинаю предавать тебе Сигона и землю его; начинай овладевать землею его.

And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee; begin, take possession that thou may inherit his land.

32 И Сигон со всем народом своим выступил против нас на сражение к Яаце;

Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.

33 и предал его Господь, Бог наш,, и мы поразили его и сынов его и весь народ его,

But the LORD our God delivered him before us; and we smote him and his sons and all his people.

34 и взяли в то время все города его, и предали заклятию все города, мужчин и женщин и детей, не оставили никого в живых;

And we took all his cities at that time and utterly destroyed all the cities, the men and the women and the little ones; we left none to remain.

35 т олько взяли мы себе в добычу скот их и захваченное во взятых нами городах.

We took only the beasts for a prey unto ourselves and the spoil of the cities which we took.

36 О т Ароера, который на берегу потока Арнона, и от города, который на долине, до Галаада не было города, который был бы неприступен для нас: всё предал Господь, Бог наш,.

From Aroer, which is by the brink of the river of Arnon, and from the city that is by the river even unto Gilead, there was not one city escaped us; the LORD our God delivered all of them before us.

37 Т олько к земле Аммонитян ты не подходил, ни к близ потока Иавока, ни к городам на горе, ни ко всему, к чему не повелел Господь, Бог наш.

Only unto the land of the sons of Ammon thou camest not, nor unto any place of the river Jabbok, nor unto the cities in the mountains, nor unto any place that the LORD our God forbade us.
