1 В ы сами знаете, братия, о нашем входе к вам, что он был не бездейственный;

¶ For you yourselves, brethren, know that our entrance unto you was not vain,

2 н о, прежде пострадав и быв поруганы в Филиппах, как вы знаете, мы дерзнули в Боге нашем проповедать вам благовестие Божие с великим подвигом.

but having suffered before and having been shamefully treated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to announce unto you the gospel of God with much diligence.

3 И бо в учении нашем нет ни заблуждения, ни нечистых, ни лукавства;

For our exhortation was not of error nor of uncleanness nor in guile,

4 н о, как Бог удостоил нас того, чтобы вверить благовестие, так мы и говорим, угождая не человекам, но Богу, испытующему сердца наши.

but because we have been approved of God that he might entrust us with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God, who tries our hearts.

5 И бо никогда не было у нас перед вами ни слов ласкательства, как вы знаете, ни видов корысти: Бог свидетель!

For we were never flatterers in the word, as ye know, nor tainted with covetousness, God is witness,

6 Н е ищем славы человеческой ни от вас, ни от других:

nor did we seek glory of men neither of you nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome unto you as the apostles of Christ.

7 м ы могли явиться с важностью, как Апостолы Христовы, но были тихи среди вас, подобно как кормилица нежно обходится с детьми своими.

¶ But we were gentle among you, as a mother feeding and caring for her children,

8 Т ак мы, из усердия к вам, восхотели передать вам не только благовестие Божие, но и души наши, потому что вы стали нам любезны.

loving you so much, that we were willing to give unto you, not only the gospel of God, but even our own souls, because ye are dear unto us.

9 И бо вы помните, братия, труд наш и изнурение: ночью и днем работая, чтобы не отяготить кого из вас, мы проповедывали у вас благовестие Божие.

For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail, for labouring night and day, not to be a burden unto any of you, we preached among you the gospel of God.

10 С видетели вы и Бог, как свято и праведно и безукоризненно поступали мы перед вами, верующими,

Ye are witnesses, and God also, of how holy and just and irreprehensible our behaviour was among you that believe,

11 п отому что вы знаете, как каждого из вас, как отец детей своих,

as ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father with his children,

12 м ы просили и убеждали и умоляли поступать достойно Бога, призвавшего вас в Свое Царство и славу.

that ye would walk worthy of God, who has called you unto his kingdom and glory.

13 П осему и мы непрестанно благодарим Бога, что, приняв от нас слышанное слово Божие, вы приняли не слово человеческое, но слово Божие, --каково оно есть по истине, --которое и действует в вас, верующих.

¶ For this cause also we thank God without ceasing, that having received from us the word to hear from God, ye received it not as the word of men, (but as it is in truth) the word of God, which effectually works in you that believe.

14 И бо вы, братия, сделались подражателями церквам Божиим во Христе Иисусе, находящимся в Иудее, потому что и вы то же претерпели от своих единоплеменников, что и те от Иудеев,

For ye, brethren, have been imitators in Christ Jesus of the congregations of God which are in Judaea, for ye also have suffered like things of your own nation, even as they have of the Jews,

15 к оторые убили и Господа Иисуса и Его пророков, и нас изгнали, и Богу не угождают, и всем человекам противятся,

who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets and have persecuted us, and they do not please God and are contrary to all men,

16 к оторые препятствуют нам говорить язычникам, чтобы спаслись, и через это всегда наполняют меру грехов своих; но приближается на них гнев до конца.

forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up the measure of their sins always, for the wrath of God has come upon them to the uttermost.

17 М ы же, братия, быв разлучены с вами на короткое время лицем, а не сердцем, тем с большим желанием старались увидеть лице ваше.

¶ But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly with great desire to see your face.

18 И потому мы, я Павел, и раз и два хотели прийти к вам, но воспрепятствовал нам сатана.

Therefore we would have come unto you, even I, Paul, once and again, but Satan hindered us.

19 И бо кто наша надежда, или радость, или венец похвалы? Не и вы ли пред Господом нашим Иисусом Христом в пришествие Его?

For what is our hope or joy or crown of rejoicing? Is it not you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

20 И бо вы--слава наша и радость.

For ye are our glory and joy.
