1 – Если кто-то украдет вола или овцу и зарежет их или продаст, он заплатит пять волов за вола и четыре овцы за овцу.

¶ If a man shall steal an ox or a sheep and kill it or sell it he shall restore five oxen for an ox and four sheep for a sheep.

2 Е сли вора застигнут при взломе и изобьют так, что он умрет, то тот, кто его бил, не виноват в убийстве.

If a thief is found breaking into a house and is smitten so he dies, he that killed him shall not be guilty of his blood.

3 Н о если это случится после восхода солнца, он виноват. Вор должен возместить украденное. Если у него ничего нет, пусть его продадут в рабство, чтобы возместить украденное.

If the sun is risen upon him, he that killed him is guilty of his blood; the thief should make full restitution; if he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

4 Е сли краденый скот будет найден у него живым, то все равно, вол это, осел или овца, он должен заплатить вдвое.

If he is found with the theft in his hand, whether it be ox or ass or sheep, he shall restore double.

5 Е сли кто-то потравит чужое поле или виноградник, пустив скотину на чужое поле, то пусть возместит за потраву лучшим урожаем со своего поля или виноградника.

If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten and shall put in his beast and shall feed in another man’s field; of the best of his own field and of the best of his own vineyard shall he make restitution.

6 Е сли загорится огонь и, охватив терновые кусты, спалит скирды или несжатое зерно в поле, то тот, кто пустил огонь, должен возместить сгоревшее.

When fires are lit and in burning the thorns burn also the stacks of sheaves or the standing grain, or the field is consumed; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.

7 Е сли кто-то отдаст ближнему на хранение серебро или вещи и их украдут из дома поручившегося, то вор, если его поймают, заплатит вдвое.

¶ When a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it is stolen out of the man’s house; if the thief is found, let him pay double.

8 Н о если вора не найдут, поручившийся должен предстать перед судьями и поклясться, что не посягал на чужое добро.

If the thief is not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges to see whether he has put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods.

9 П ри всяком споре о праве на имущество, будь то вол, осел, овца, одежда или другое пропавшее имущество, о котором кто-то говорит: «Это мое», – обе стороны должны представить дело судьям. Тот, кого судьи объявят неправым, заплатит истцу вдвое.

For all manner of fraud, whether it be for an ox, for an ass, for a sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challenges to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.

10 Е сли кто-то отдаст ближнему осла, вола, овцу или другую скотину на хранение, и она умрет или будет покалечена или угнана, когда никто не видит,

If a man delivers unto his neighbour an ass or an ox or a sheep or any beast to keep, and it dies or is hurt or driven away, no man seeing it,

11 е го спор с ответчиком будет решен клятвой перед Господом, что ответчик не посягал на чужое добро. Истец должен принять клятву, и возмещения не будет.

then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he has not put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods, and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.

12 Н о если скотину у ответчика украли, он должен возместить истцу за украденное.

And if it is stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto its owner.

13 Е сли скотину растерзали дикие звери, пусть ответчик принесет труп животного для доказательства. Тогда он не будет возмещать убытки за растерзанное животное.

If it is torn in pieces, then let him bring witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn.

14 Е сли кто-то возьмет у ближнего скотину взаймы, а она получит увечье или умрет, когда хозяина не будет рядом, он должен возместить.

And if anyone borrows anything of his neighbour, and it is hurt or dies, its owner not being with it, he shall surely make it good.

15 Н о если хозяин будет в тот момент рядом, то взявший ее взаймы не будет платить. Если скотина была взята внаем, пусть потерю покроет плата за наем. Общественные законы

But if its owner is with it, he shall not make it good; if it was hired, it came for its hire.

16 – Если человек соблазнит девушку, которая не давала обещания выйти замуж, и переспит с ней, он должен заплатить свадебный выкуп, и она станет его женой.

¶ If a man should entice a virgin that is not betrothed and lie with her, he shall surely endow her and take her to be his wife.

17 Е сли отец откажется отдать ее ему, он все равно должен заплатить выкуп, какой полагается за девушку.

If her father utterly refuses to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.

18 Н е оставляй в живых колдунью.

Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

19 В сякого, кто совокупляется с животным, следует предать смерти.

Whoever lies with a beast shall surely be put to death.

20 В сякого, приносящего жертвы иному богу, кроме Господа, следует истребить.

He that sacrifices unto any god, except unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

21 Н е притесняйте поселенцев, не угнетайте их: вы сами были поселенцами в Египте.

Thou shalt neither mistreat a stranger nor oppress him; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

22 Н е притесняйте вдов и сирот.

Ye shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child.

23 Е сли вы будете делать это, они призовут на помощь Меня, и Я непременно услышу.

If thou afflict them in any manner, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;

24 М ой гнев вспыхнет, и Я убью вас мечом. Ваши жены сами станут вдовами, а дети – сиротами.

and my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

25 Е сли даете взаймы бедняку из Моего народа, не будьте, как ростовщик – не налагайте процентов.

¶ If thou should lend money to my people, to the poor who is with thee, thou shalt not be to him as a usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.

26 Е сли возьмете у ближнего в залог одежду, верните ее к закату:

If thou at all take thy neighbour’s clothing as a pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him before the sun goes down;

27 м ожет быть, ему больше нечем укрыться, кроме этой одежды. Как ему спать без нее? Когда он взмолится ко Мне, Я услышу, потому что Я милостив.

for only that is his covering, it is his clothing to cover his flesh, in which he must sleep; and it shall come to pass, when he cries unto me, that I will hear, for I am merciful.

28 Н е оскорбляйте Бога и не проклинайте вождя вашего народа.

Thou shalt not revile the judges nor curse the prince of thy people.

29 Н е медлите совершать приношения из ваших амбаров и кувшинов. Отдавайте Мне первенцев из своих сыновей.

Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits and of thy liquors; the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.

30 О тдавайте Мне первородное из крупного и мелкого скота. Пусть животные остаются семь дней с матерью, а на восьмой день отдавайте их Мне.

Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen and with thy sheep; seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it to me.

31 Б удьте Моим святым народом: не ешьте мясо животного, растерзанного дикими зверями. Бросайте его собакам.

And ye shall be holy men unto me; neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.
