1 « إنْ سَرَقَ رَجُلٌ ثَوراً أوْ خَرُوفاً وَذَبَحَهُ أوْ باعَهُ، يُعَوِّضُ السّارِقُ بِخَمسَةِ ثِيرانٍ عَنِ الثَّورِ، وَبِأربَعَةِ خِرافٍ عَنِ الخَرُوفِ.

¶ If a man shall steal an ox or a sheep and kill it or sell it he shall restore five oxen for an ox and four sheep for a sheep.

2 « إنْ أُمسِكَ لِصٌ وَهُوَ يَقتَحِمُ بَيتاً فَضُرِبَ وَماتَ، لا يَكُونُ لأحَدٍ حَقُّ الثَّأرِ لِدَمِهِ.

If a thief is found breaking into a house and is smitten so he dies, he that killed him shall not be guilty of his blood.

3 ل َكِنْ إنْ قُتِلَ فِي النَّهارِ، يَكُونُ هُناكَ حَقٌّ لِلثَّأرِ لِدَمِهِ. فَإنْ أُمْسِكَ حَيّاً وَلَيسَ مَعَهُ ما يُعَوِّضُ بِهِ عَمَّا سَرَقَهُ، يُباعُ كَعَبدٍ تَعْويضاً عَمَّا سَرَقَهُ.

If the sun is risen upon him, he that killed him is guilty of his blood; the thief should make full restitution; if he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

4 و َإنْ وُجِدَ ما سَرَقَهُ مَعَهُ حَيّاً، سَواءٌ أكانَ ثَوراً أمْ حِماراً أمْ خَرُوفاً، فَإنَّهُ يُعَوِّضُ بِالضِّعْفِ. التَّعوِيضُ عَنِ الضَّرَر

If he is found with the theft in his hand, whether it be ox or ass or sheep, he shall restore double.

5 « إنْ رَعَى رَجُلٌ قَطِيعَهُ فِي حَقلِهِ أوْ كَرْمِهِ، ثُمَّ تُرِكَتْ ماشِيَتُهُ لِتَرْعَى فِي حَقلِ رَجُلٍ آخَرَ، يَنبَغِي أنْ يُعَوِّضَ مِنْ أفضَلِ إنتاجِ حَقلِهِ أوْ كَرمِهِ.

If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten and shall put in his beast and shall feed in another man’s field; of the best of his own field and of the best of his own vineyard shall he make restitution.

6 « إنْ أشعَلَ رَجُلٌ ناراً فَتَخَطَّتْ حُدُودَ أرْضِهِ، وَأحرَقَتْ قَمحاً مُكَدَّساً أوْ زَرْعاً أوْ حَقلاً، يُعَوِّضُ مَنْ أشعَلَ النّارَ عَنْ ما احتَرَقَ.

When fires are lit and in burning the thorns burn also the stacks of sheaves or the standing grain, or the field is consumed; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.

7 « إنْ أعطَى رَجُلٌ مالاً أوْ بَضائِعَ لِجارِهِ لِيَحتَفِظَ بِها لَهُ، وَسُرِقَتْ مِنْ بَيتِ الرَّجُلِ، وَقُبِضَ عَلَى اللِّصِّ، يُعَوِّضُ اللِصُّ عَنها كُلِّها.

¶ When a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it is stolen out of the man’s house; if the thief is found, let him pay double.

8 ف َإنْ لَمْ يُقبَضْ عَلَى اللِّصِّ، يَقِفُ صاحِبُ البَيتِ أمامَ القُضاةِ لِمَعْرِفَةِ إنْ كانَ هُوَ قَدْ سَرَقَ جارَهُ.

If the thief is not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges to see whether he has put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods.

9 « إنْ فُقِدَ ثَورٌ أوْ حِمارٌ أوْ خَرُوفٌ أوْ ثَوبٌ أوْ أيُّ شَيءٍ آخَرُ، وَجاءَ رَجُلانِ يَقُولُ كُلٌّ مِنْهُما إنَّ المَفْقُودَ لَهُ، تُقَدَّمُ دَعْواهُما إلَى القُضاةِ، وَالَّذِي يَحكُمُ القُضاةُ بِأنَّهُ المُذنِبُ، يُعَوِّضُ جارَهُ ضِعفَينِ.

For all manner of fraud, whether it be for an ox, for an ass, for a sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challenges to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.

10 « إنْ أعطَى رَجُلٌ جارَهُ حِماراً أوْ ثَوراً أوْ خَرُوفاً أوْ أيَّ حَيوانٍ لِيَحتَفِظَ لَهُ بِهِ، وَماتَ الحَيَوانُ أوْ جُرِحَ أوْ سُرِقَ وَلَمْ يَجِدْهُ أحَدٌ،

If a man delivers unto his neighbour an ass or an ox or a sheep or any beast to keep, and it dies or is hurt or driven away, no man seeing it,

11 ي َحلِفُ الجارُ بِاللهِ إنَّهُ لَمْ يَسْرِقْ مُلكَ جارِهِ. وَيَقْبَلُ المالِكُ بِالحُكمِ. وَلا يَكُونَ عَلَى الرَّجُلِ الآخَرِ أنْ يُعَوِّضَ بِشَيءٍ.

then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he has not put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods, and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.

12 ل َكِنْ إنْ سُرِقَ مِنهُ بِسَبَبِ إهمالِهِ، فَإنَّهُ يُعَوِّضُ مالِكَهُ.

And if it is stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto its owner.

13 و َإنِ مَزَّقَهُ حَيوانٌ بَرِّيٌّ، فَلْيُحِضِرْ بَقايا الحَيوانِ. وَلا يَكُونُ عَلَيهِ أنْ يُعَوِّضَ عَنِ الحَيَوانِ المُمَّزَقِ بِشَيءٍ.

If it is torn in pieces, then let him bring witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn.

14 « إنِ استَعارَ رَجُلٌ شَيئاً أوْ حَيواناً مِنْ جارِهِ، فَكُسِرَ ما استَعارَهُ أوْ ماتَ وَلَمْ يَكُنِ المالِكُ مَعَهُ، فَيَنبَغِي أنْ يُعَوِّضَ المالِكَ بِشَكلٍ كامِلٍ.

And if anyone borrows anything of his neighbour, and it is hurt or dies, its owner not being with it, he shall surely make it good.

15 ل َكِنْ إنْ كانَ مالِكُهُ مَعَهُ، لا يُعَوِّضُهُ بِشَيءٍ. وَإنْ كانَ الشَّيءُ أوِ الحَيوانُ مُستَأجَراً، فَالخَسارَةُ تُغَطَّى بِأُجرَةِ الاستِئجارِ.

But if its owner is with it, he shall not make it good; if it was hired, it came for its hire.

16 « إنْ أغوَى رَجُلٌ فَتاةً عَذْراءَ غَيرَ مَخطُوبَةٍ لَهُ وَعاشَرَها، يَدفَعُ مَهْرَها كامِلاً وَيَتَزَوْجُها.

¶ If a man should entice a virgin that is not betrothed and lie with her, he shall surely endow her and take her to be his wife.

17 ف َإنْ رَفَضَ أبوها أنْ يُزَوِّجَها مِنْهُ، يَدْفَعُ الرَّجُلُ، عَلَى ايَّةِ حالٍ، ما يُعادِلُ مَهْرَ عَذْراءٍ. أخلاقٌ عامَّة

If her father utterly refuses to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.

18 « لا تَسمَحْ لِساحِرَةٍ بِأنْ تَعِيشَ.

Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

19 « مَنْ عاشَرَ حَيواناً مُعاشَرَةً جِنْسيَّةً، يُقتَلُ قَتلاً.

Whoever lies with a beast shall surely be put to death.

20 « مَنْ يُقَدِّمُ ذَبائِحَ لِآلِهَةٍ أُخْرَى غَيرِ اللهِ يَنبَغِي أنْ يُبادَ.

He that sacrifices unto any god, except unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

21 « لا تُسِئْ مُعامَلَةَ الغَرِيبِ المُقِيمِ فِي أرْضِكَ، لِأنَّكُمْ كُنْتُمْ غُرَباءَ فِي أرْضِ مِصرَ.

Thou shalt neither mistreat a stranger nor oppress him; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

22 « لا تُسِئْ إلَى أرمَلَةٍ أوْ يَتِيمٍ.

Ye shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child.

23 ف َإنْ أسَأتَ إلَيها أوْ إلَيهِ، وَصَرَخَ إلَيَّ فَإنِّي سَأسمَعُ صَرْخَتَهُ.

If thou afflict them in any manner, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;

24 س َيَشْتَدُّ غَضَبِي وَأقتُلُكُمْ بِالسَّيفِ، وَتَصِيرُ زَوجاتُكُمْ أرامِلَ، وَأولادُكُمْ يَتامَى.

and my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

25 « إنْ أقرَضْتَ مالاً لِفَقِيرٍ مِنْ شَعبِيَ، فَلا تُعَامِلْهُ بِالرِّبا. لا تأخُذْ مِنْهُ فَائِدَةً.

¶ If thou should lend money to my people, to the poor who is with thee, thou shalt not be to him as a usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.

26 و َإنْ كُنتَ تَحتَفِظُ بِثَوبِ جارِكَ كَرَهِينَةٍ، أعِدْهُ إلَيهِ قَبلَ غُرُوبِ الشَّمسِ،

If thou at all take thy neighbour’s clothing as a pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him before the sun goes down;

27 ف َهُوَ غِطاؤُهُ الوَحِيدُ، وَهُوَ ثَوبُ جِلْدِهِ. بِماذا يَتَغَطَّى حِينَ يَنامُ؟ فَحِينَ يَصرُخُ إلَيَّ، سَأسمَعُهُ لِأنِّي رَحِيمٌ.

for only that is his covering, it is his clothing to cover his flesh, in which he must sleep; and it shall come to pass, when he cries unto me, that I will hear, for I am merciful.

28 « لا تَشْتِمِ القُضاةِ. وَلا تَنطِقْ بِلَعنَةٍ عَلَى قائِدِ شَعبِكَ.

Thou shalt not revile the judges nor curse the prince of thy people.

29 « لا تَحتَفِظْ بِأوَّلِ إنتاجِ حَقلِكَ مِنَ الحُبُوبِ أوْ مِنْ نَبيذِ مِعصَرَتِكَ. وَكَرِّسْ لِي بِكرَ أبْنائِكَ.

Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits and of thy liquors; the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.

30 و َكَذَلِكَ قَدِّمْ أبكارَ ثِيرانِكَ وَغَنَمِكَ. أبْقِ بِكرَ الحَيوانِ سَبعَةَ أيّامٍ مَعَ أُمِّهِ، ثُمَّ قَدِّمْهُ لِي فِي اليَومِ الثّامِنِ.

Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen and with thy sheep; seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it to me.

31 « كُونوا مُخَصَّصينَ لِي، فَلا تَأْكُلُوا لَحمَ حَيوانٍ قَتَلَهُ حَيوانٌ آخَرُ فِي الحَقلِ، بَلْ ألقُوهُ إلَى الكِلابِ.

And ye shall be holy men unto me; neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.
