1 أ يُّها الأبناءُ، أطِيعُوا آباءَكُمْ وَأُمَّهاتِكُمُ انسِجاماً مَعَ طاعَتِكُمْ لِلرَّبِّ. فَهَذا أمرٌ لائِقٌ بِكُمْ.

¶ Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

2 « أكرِمْ أباكَ وَأُمَّكَ.» وَهَذِهِ أوَّلُ وَصِيَّةٍ مَصحُوبَةٍ بِوَعدٍ. وَالوَعدُ هُوَ:

Honour thy father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise),

3 « لِكَيْ تَكُونَ مُوَفَّقاً فِي حَياتِكَ، وَيَطُولَ عُمرُكَ عَلَى الأرْضِ.»

that it may be well with thee, and thou may live long on the earth.

4 أ يُّها الآباءُ، لا تُغِيظُوا أبناءَكُمْ، بَلْ رَبُّوهُمْ بِالتَّدرِيبِ وَالإرشادِ اللَذينِ يَتَوافَقانِ وَإرادَةِ الرَّبِّ. العَبيدُ وَالأسياد

And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the discipline and admonition of the Lord.

5 أ يُّها العَبيدُ، أطِيعُوا سادَتَكُمُ الأرْضِيِّينَ باحتِرامٍ وَهَيْبَةٍ، وَاخدِمُوهُمْ بِإخلاصٍ منْ قُلُوبِكُمْ، كَأنَّكُمْ تَخدِمُونَ المَسِيحَ.

Slaves, be obedient to those that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in simplicity of your heart as unto the Christ,

6 و َلا تَعمَلُوا فَقَطْ حِينَ تَكُونُونَ تَحتَ مُراقَبَةِ أسيادِكُمْ لِكَيْ تُرضُوهُمْ، بَلِ كَما يَلِيقُ بِخُدّامِ المَسِيحِ الَّذِينَ يَعمَلُونَ مَشِيئَةَ اللهِ مِنْ كُلِّ قُلُوبِهِمْ.

not to be seen as only pleasing men, but as the slaves of the Christ, doing the will of God from within,

7 ف َاعمَلُوا بِفَرَحٍ حاسِبِينَ أنَّكُمْ تَخدِمُونَ الرَّبَّ، لا النّاسَ.

with good will doing service as to the Lord and not to men,

8 و َتَذَكَّرُوا أنَّ الرَّبَّ سَيُجازِي كُلَّ واحِدٍ مِنكُمْ عَلَى الخَيرِ الَّذِي يَصنَعُهُ، سَواءٌ أكانَ عَبداً أمْ حُرّاً.

knowing that whatever good thing anyone does, the same shall they receive of the Lord, whether they are slaves or free.

9 أ مّا أنتُمْ أيُّها الأسيادُ، فَعامِلُوا عَبِيدَكُمْ بِالطَّرِيقَةِ نَفسِها، فَلا تَلجَأُوا إلَى تَهْديدِهِمْ، مُتَذَكِّرينَ أنَّ سَيِّدَكُمْ وَسَيِّدَهُمْ واحِدٌ، وَهُوَ مَوجُودٌ فِي السَّماءِ، وَلا يَتَحَيَّزُ لِأحَدٍ. البَسُوا سِلاحَ اللهِ بِكامِلِه

And, ye masters, do the same unto them, forbearing threats, knowing that their Master and yours is also in the heavens and that he is no respecter of persons.

10 و َفِي الخِتامِ أقُولُ لَكُمْ: تَحَصَّنُوا بِالرَّبِّ وَبِقُوَّتِهِ الهائِلَةِ.

¶ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.

11 ا لبَسُوا سِلاحَ اللهِ بِكامِلِهِ، لِكَي تَقدِرُوا عَلَى الصُّمُودِ أمامَ مَكائِدِ إبلِيسَ.

Put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to stand firm against the wiles of the devil.

12 ف َكِفاحُنا لَيسَ ضِدَّ بَشَرٍ، بَلْ ضِدَّ الحُكّامِ وَالسُّلُطاتِ وَالقُوَى الكَونِيَّةِ فِي ظُلْمَةِ هَذا العالَمِ، وَضِدَّ القُوّاتِ الرُّوحِيَّةِ الشَّرِّيرَةِ فِي العالَمِ السَّماوِيِّ.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the lords of this age, rulers of this darkness, against spiritual wickedness in the heavens.

13 ل ِذَلِكَ تَقَلَّدُوا سِلاحَ اللهِ بِكامِلِهِ، وَهَكَذا تَكُونُونَ قادِرِينَ عَلَى المُقاوَمَةِ عِندَ مَجِيءٍ اليَومِ الشِّرِّيْرِ. وَبَعدَ أنْ تُحارِبُوا إلَى النِّهايَةِ، كُونوا صامِدِينَ.

Therefore, take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day and stand fast, all the work having been finished.

14 ف َاصمِدوا مُتَحَزِّمينَ بِالحَقَّ، لابِسينَ البِرَّ دِرعا،

Stand firm, therefore, having your loins girt about with truth and having on the breastplate, of righteousness,

15 ج اعِلينَ مِنَ استِعدادِكُمْ لإعلانِ بِشارَةِ السَّلامِ حِذاءً لِأرجُلِكُمْ.

and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace,

16 و َفَوقَ هَذا كُلِّهِ، احمِلوا الإيمانَ تُرساً تَنطَفِئُ عَلَيهِ كُلُّ سِهامِ الشِّرِّيْرِ المُلتَهِبَةِ.

above all, taking the shield of faith, with which ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 و اضِعينَ الخَلاصَ خُوذَةً، وَمُشْهِرينَ كَلِمَةَ اللهِ سَيفاً لِلرُّوحِ،

And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

18 م ُصَلَّينَ بِمَعُونَةِ الرُّوحِ فِي كُلِّ وَقتٍ وَفِي كُلِّ أمرٍ. انتَبِهُوا لِأهَمِّيَّةِ الصَّلاةِ، مُثابِرينَ عَلَيها دائماً مِنْ أجلِ كُلِّ المُؤمِنِينَ،

praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit and watching in this with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints

19 و َمِنْ أجلِي أنا أيضاً، لِكَيْ يُعطِيَنِي اللهُ رِسالَةً مُناسِبَةً كُلَّما أُتِيحَتْ لِي فُرصَةُ الكَلامِ، لِكَيْ أُعَلِّمَ النّاسَ بِجُرأةٍ بِسِرِّ البِشارَةِ،

¶ and for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth with confidence, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

20 ا لَّتي أنا سَفِيرٌ لَها مُقَيَّدٌ فِي سَلاسِلَ، لِكَيْ أتَمَكَّنَ مِنْ إيصالِها بِشَجاعَةٍ، وَكَما يَنبَغِي. تَحِيّاتٌ أخِيرَة

for which I am an ambassador in chains, that in this I may speak boldly as I ought to speak.

21 س َيُخبِرُكُمْ تِيخِيكُسُ كُلَّ شَيءٍ عَنْ أحوالِي وَعَمّا أفعَلُ، لِأنِّي أُرِيدُكُمْ أنْ تَطمَئِنُّوا عَلَيَّ. وَتِيخِيكُسُ أخٌ مَحبُوبٌ خادِمٌ أمينٌ فِي عَمَلِ الرَّبِّ.

But that ye also may know my affairs and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, shall make known to you all things,

22 و َها أنا أُرسِلُهُ إلَيكُمْ لِكَي تَعرِفُوا مِنهُ أحوالَنا، وَلِكَيْ يُشَجِّعَكُمْ.

whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs and that he might comfort your hearts.

23 ل ِيُمَتِّعْكُمُ اللهُ الآبُ وَالرَّبُّ يَسُوعُ المَسِيحُ بِالسَّلامِ وَالمَحَبَّةِ وَالإيمانِ.

Peace be to the brethren and charity with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

24 و َلْتَكُنْ نِعمَةُ اللهِ مَعَ كُلِّ الَّذِينَ يُحِبُّونَ رَبَّنا يَسُوعَ المَسِيحِ مَحَبَّةً لا تَزُولُ.

Grace be with all those that love our Lord Jesus Christ in incorruption. Amen.
