1 ذ َكِّرِ النّاسَ دائِماً بِأنْ يَخضَعُوا لِلحُكّامِ وَالسُّلُطاتِ فَيُطِيعُوهُمْ، وَأنْ يَكُونُوا مُستَعِدِّينَ لِكُلِّ عَمَلٍ صالِحٍ.

¶ Admonish them to be subject to dominion and power, and to persuade those who have authority, that they be quick unto every good work.

2 و َأنْ لا يُشَوِّهُوا سُمعَةَ أحَدٍ، بَلْ يَكُونُوا مُسالِمِينَ لُطَفاءَ، مُظهِرِينَ كُلَّ أدَبٍ أمامَ جَمِيعِ النّاسِ.

That they speak evil of no one, that they not be contentious, but gentle, showing all meekness unto all men.

3 أ قُولُ هَذا لِأنَّنا نَحنُ أيضاً كُنّا ذاتَ يَومٍ أغبِياءَ غَيرَ طائِعِينَ وَمَخدُوعِينَ. كُنّا عَبِيداً لِشَهَواتٍ وَمَلَذّاتٍ مِنْ كُلِّ نَوعٍ. عِشنا فِي الخُبثِ وَالحَسَدِ. الآخَرونَ أبغَضُونا، وَنَحنُ أبغَضَ بَعضُنا بَعضاً.

For we ourselves also were foolish in another time, rebellious, deceived, serving diverse lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

4 ل َكِنْ عِندَما أُعلِنَ لُطفُ اللهِ مُخَلِّصِنا وَمَحَبَّتُهُ للبَشَرِ،

But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

5 خ َلَّصَنا اللهُ، لا بِسَبَبِ أعمالٍ بارَّةٍ عَمِلناها، بَلْ بِرَحمَتِهِ. لَقَدْ خَلَّصَنا بِواسِطَةِ الغُسلِ الَّذِي نُولَدُ بِهِ ثانِيَةً، وَجَدَّدَنا بِالرُّوحِ القُدُسِ

not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

6 ا لَّذِي سَكَبَهُ اللهُ عَلَينا بِغِنَىً في يَسُوعَ المَسِيحِ مُخَلِّصِنا.

which he poured out abundantly in us through Jesus, the Christ, our Saviour;

7 و َمَنَحَنا الرَّجاءَ بِأنْ نَكُونَ وَرَثَةً لِلحَياةِ الأبَدِيَّةِ، بَعدَ أنْ حُسِبنا أبْراراً بِسَبَبِ نِعمَةِ اللهِ.

that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

8 ه َذا كَلامٌ جَدِيرٌ بِالثِّقَةِ. وَأُرِيدُ مِنكَ أنْ تُؤَكِّدَ عَلَى هَذِهِ الأُمُورِ لِكَي يَهتَمَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِاللهِ بأنْ يُمارِسوا أعمالاً صالِحَةً. فَهَذِهِ هِيَ الأعمالُ النّافِعَةُ وَالمُفِيدَةُ لِلنّاسِ.

The Word is faithful, and I desire that thou affirm this constantly, that those who have believed God might be careful to conduct themselves in good works. This is good and profitable unto men.

9 ل َكِنْ تَجَنَّبِ المُجادَلاتِ الغَبِيَّةِ حَولَ سُلالاتِ النَّسَبِ، وَالمُنازَعاتِ وَالشِّجاراتِ حَولَ مَسائِلِ شَرِيعَةِ مُوسَى، لِأنَّها أُمُورٌ غَيرُ نافِعَةٍ وَتافِهَةٌ.

¶ But avoid foolish questions and genealogies and contentions and debates concerning the law, for they are unprofitable and vain.

10 ا بتَعِدْ عَنِ الَّذي يُسَبِّبُ الانقِسامَ بَعدَ أنْ تُنذِرَهُ مَرَّتَينِ عَلَى الأقَلِّ.

A man that is a heretic, after the first and second admonition, reject him,

11 ف َأنتَ تَعلَمُ أنَّ مِثلَ ذَلِكَ الشَّخصِ قَدِ انحَرَفَ، وَأنَّهُ مُستَمِرٌّ فِي ارتِكابِ الخَطِيَّةِ، فَحَكَمَ بِذَلِكَ عَلَى نَفسِهِ. تَذكِيرٌ

knowing that he that is such is subverted and sins, being condemned of his own judgment.

12 ع ِندَما أُرسِلُ إلَيكَ أرتِيماسَ أوْ تِيخِيكُسَ، ابذُلْ ما فِي وُسْعِكَ لِلقُدُومِ إلَى مَدِينَةِ نِيكُوبُولِيسَ لِمُقابَلَتِي، فَقَدْ قَرَّرتُ أنْ أقضِي الشِّتاءَ هُناكَ.

When I shall send Artemas unto thee or Tychicus, procure to come unto me to Nicopolis; for I have determined to winter there.

13 ا عمَلْ ما في وُسْعِكَ لِمُساعَدَةِ المُحامِي زِيناسَ وَأبُلُّوسَ فِي كُلِّ ما يَحتاجانِ إلَيهِ لِلسَّفَرِ، لِكَي لا يَنقُصَهُما شَيءٌ.

Send Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on ahead, procuring that nothing be lacking unto them.

14 ع َلَى المُؤمِنِينَ أنْ يَتَعَلَّمُوا الاهتِمامَ بِمُمارَسَةِ الأعمالِ الصّالِحَةِ لِكَي يَسُدُّوا الحاجاتِ العاجِلَةَ لِلنّاسِ فَيَكُونُوا مُثمِرينَ.

And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they not be unfruitful.

15 ج َمِيعُ الَّذِينَ مَعِي يُسَلِّمُونَ عَلَيكَ. سَلِّمْ عَلَى الَّذِينَ يُحِبُّونَنا فِي الإيمانِ. وَلْتَكُنْ نِعمَةُ اللهِ مَعَكُمْ جَمِيعاً.

All that are with me salute thee. Greet those that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.
